anyone who is genuinely concerned that young poses a serious threat to beshear in the primary is somehow living in more of a dream world than young himself is

ok, i'll be sure to vote for daniel cameron in the primary and general then since that is apparently preferable to me voting for young in the primary and beshear in the general. hope that makes the red avs happy Smiley

Anyone who wants to effect change in US politics should be voting in one of the major party primaries IMO. Third parties will always be a dead end.

Anyone who wants to effect change in US politics should be voting in one of the major party primaries IMO. Third parties will always be a dead end.

imo the democratic party is where leftism goes to die. the party-within-a-party thing has been tried and has failed for decades. leftists had much more political power when the socialist and communist parties were strong then when they folded into fdr's new deal coalition. even today, the entire discourse around the green new deal and other progressive policies owes a large debt to the green party and other left-wing third parties acting to force the dems left from the outside. just in new york, a green mayor in the early 2000s performed the first same-sex marriages (and was prosecuted for it by the dem attorney general), howie hawkins was the first in the u.s. to campaign on a GND and forced the democrats to oppose fracking with the political pressure of getting 5% of the vote for governor, the list goes on.

and just personally it's hard for me on principle to support a party that is hellbent on destroying democracy for third parties (the north carolina senate fiasco this year being an obviously blatant example but it is a long ongoing project)
