The Fertility rate measure I prefer to use is the number of children per women and not perk 100k. The reason for this is simple. It on average should take 2 children per women to reach replacement level although it is actually a bit higher at 2.1.
https://www.cia.gov/the-world-factbook/field/total-fertility-rate/country-comparisonOverall worldwide fertility rate has generally been decreasing around the world such that even high growth countries like India and Bangladesh are only at replacement of 2.1. Developed countries are actually almost all below replacement level without immigration.
The USA unusually has a pretty high fertility rate higher than most European nations despite its immigrants generally being sourced from countries with similar fertility rates to the USA. Obviously factors like religion play a role into this but it is funny how most developed countries are basically bribing their citizens to having children when the USA has the least support.
What is unusual though is Puerto Rico. Japan has 1.38 and Korea is at 1.1. Meanwhile Puerto Rico is 221/227 at 1.24 . This is so much drastically lower than America as a whole. Why is this the case?
