Of Course Florida since:

1. It has way better job opportunities

2. Miami, Orlando, Tampa> Detroit

3. Florida Generally seems more of an exciting place too

There are few places on Earth that I would want to live in less than I want to live in Florida.

Florida, any day, and not just because of Ron DeSantis.  But it doesn't hurt.

I read somewhere that cold air actually makes you smarter. That's a point in favor of Michigan.

You don't get swamp ass in Michigan. Their lakeside beaches are actually much nicer than Florida in the summer due to it not being super f--king hot. They also have actual seasons, underrated scenery in places like the UP as opposed to the tourist traps that make up most of Florida, nicer smarter and less crazy people, better politics, and a better flagship university and college town to go with it. They have an actual, unique and interesting culture, whereas Florida feels like one big Jimmy Buffett/Disney resort. Oh and no gators or sharks in Michigan.

This isn't even a contest.

Even ignoring politics, I would do very poorly in Florida's climate & don't want to deal with hurricanes.

I'd rather live in a place where the state government isn't actively trying to take my rights away and attacking my dignity simply for being who I am.

Michigan by a large margin, Florida is quite literally the most HP state in the country at the moment, imo.

Also, Cold weather > Hot weather.

I prefer warmer climates but otherwise Michigan seems like a nice state. The cost of living is lower than it is in Florida and there's a lot to be said for its beaches which are less 'tourerized' than Florida's. Zero hurricanes. I would imagine there's much less of a bug problem too.

I would simply pretend the below is the entire state of Florida, leave under absolutely no circumstances, and have a very fun life. It's really not that bad.

Sounds awful.

If it was a socially progressive state in terms of the government and the voters, Florida hands down (even with the constant threat of having a gator in the back yard).  Beautiful coastline in Florida - and Disney World and the Orlando area have so many great attractions.  If you remove politics from it, it's a nice state.

Michigan I don't know very much about except that the winters can be brutal there.
