Also known as "the Zero Factor".

The curse of Tippecanoe being: every President elected in a year ending in 0 dies in office. (1840 to 1960)

William Henry Harrison was elected in 1840, but he's only one president, so it couldn't have been before Lincoln was elected.

Wikipedia credits the origin of the term to a 1931 edition of Ripley's Believe It or Not

So, Franklin Roosevelt, Wilkie, John Kennedy, Nixon already knew the curse when they ran. They knew that danger.
Reagan and Carter also knew. Reagan survived the murder attempt and ended the curse.

Given his age, I wonder if people were thinking that Reagan might die in office for reasons other than a gunshot wound.
