Who do you think will be the first African American woman to become governor of a US state? And when do you think that happens?

As for 2024, I think Lisa Blunt Rochester would be most likely. Carney will be term-limited and she's well known around Delaware as sole Representative.

In 2025, Winsome Sears would be a good bet for Virginia, especially if Biden is still president.

In 2026, I think there's a good chance JB Pritzker retires. Lt. Governor Juliana Stratton would be a frontrunner. Seems like she's relatively close with Pritzker, whose support would almost seal the deal? I'd also not rule out Secretary of State Shirley Weber or London Breed for California that year. In Connecticut, Rep. Jahana Hayes would also be a top-tier contender.

Stratton of IL whenever Pritzker hangs it up and it might be 2026

Lisa Madigan had a chance but retired instead of running indefinitely for AG

Miyares seems like a much better candidate to replace Youngkin than Sears. Sears would be pretty easy to paint as a crackpot (a la Bishop Jackson). Jennifer Carroll Foy would have better odds of being elected in 2025 even with a Democratic president.

I wonder how Ayanna Pressley would do in a D primary as Maura Healey's eventual successor.  Could be her.

There's a good chance that it's the current Lt. Gov of NJ, Sheila Oliver.

I think Sherrill is the frontrunner for that seat.

I think most people expect Pressley to run for Senate, not Governor.

If Shirley Weber runs California like she ran our elections, the state is completely f@cked.

Shelia Oliver in 2025 when Murphy is Term limited. She would be a frontrunner

Representative Lisa Blunt Rochester of Delaware in 2024

Or  Lieutenant Governor  Julianna Stratton of Illinois when Pritzker retires in 2026.
