He would have lost due to not appealing anough to minorities. Also not sure the voters would have entrusted him with the most powerful job in the world (which is kind of ironic, since Trump was objectively way less qualified). Butti still wins the NPV though.

GOP also narrowly takes the House. At least for the next 2 years; 2022 is a bloodbath then.

✓ President Donald Trump (R-FL)/Vice President Mike Pence (R-IN): 295 EVs.; 48.4%
Former Mayor Pete Buttigieg (D-IN)/Senator Kamala Harris (D-CA): 243 EVs.; 49.1%

I'm going to be the contrarian and say that Buttigeig actually being from the Rust Belt would have helped him carry the Blue Wall there. He would have gotten destroyed in the South, however, and might have had serious trouble with the African-American vote, especially in the South, because of his sexuality.

Former South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg (D-IN)/Senator Cory Booker (D-NJ) 49.7%
POTUS Donald Trump (R-FL)/VPOTUS Mike Pence (R-IN) 47.5%

He'd probably lose, but dear God that debate would be fun to watch.

I imagine there wouldn't be a very good turnout. Pete was bad with the AA vote, probably wouldn't get Hispanics excited either unless he picks someone like Julian Castro. Holds Hillary states but not much else.

I think this is honestly best case scenario for him:
