Who would win a hypothetical rematch between Beto O'Rourke and Ted Cruz if Beto had won in 2018 and was now the incumbent?

Beto.

Retreads don't do well.

That's not to say he couldn't be defeated by a different republican.

If O'Rourke managed to win in the first place I find it pretty hard to see the most bipartisanly despised Senator in the nation defeating him in a rematch. Cruz is tolerated at best and that's the only reason he won in 2018.

O’Rourke winning would’ve meant no embarrassing presidential run, thus he probably would’ve been in at least decent shape.

Why did he run anyway?
