It would have to be a perfect storm. Health problems, affair scandals, a failed legislative push for civil rights causing a George Wallace primary challenge and/or a Ross Barnett third-party run, a Republican candidate capable of winning over some of the New Deal Coalition, maybe Operation Northwoods being approved and then getting leaked during an unending guerrilla war in Cuba if you want to get wild.
