On November 15th 1889, the Proclamation of the Republic took place in Brazil. A military coup d'état deposed emperor Pedro II and established a provisional government. Marshal Deodoro da Fonseca became the first Brazilian president.

On November 15th 1889, Manuel II was born. Later, he would become the last king of Portugal. He would be deposed in a military uprising too.
