I've been mulling over the idea of running a game in the style of Lumine's BoP series based on the popular Paradox game mod alternate history of Kaiserreich. There was a plan to run a similar game a few years back but it never got off the ground. I wanted to see if there would be any interest in that kind of game now and to explain any questions or resolve any issues with the setting outside a game thread.

For those who do not know the setting, Kaiserreich is premised on a German victory in World War 1 ("The Weltkrieg") in 1920, a victory which was followed by a series of interventions and revolutions that left the world radically different. The game would start in 1936 with the German Empire (and its client states which make up "Mitteleuropa") challenged in its position as the world's hegemon by a severe economic crisis. German's main rivals in the Weltkrieg, Britain and France, both fell to revolution following their defeats. Now they lead the worldwide revolutionary left as Syndicalist states, ready to spread revolutionary Syndicalism to the impoverished masses of the world. The old Entente exists too, with exiles led by the Windsor king in Canada and by in Algeria, waiting for their opportunity for revenge and restoration of the old order. Other great powers such as Russia, Japan, Austria-Hungary, Qing China, and the United States sit outside these great alliances, poised to collapse or to dominate.

As far as game mechanics, nearly every corner of the Kaiserreich world is poorer, less stable, and generally worse-off than IRL (Herman Goering runs German Africa! The Mad Baron rules Mongolia!) and armed radicals wait in just about every country for their chance to revolt. There would be more focus on managing limited resources and on how they could stop (or encourage!) revolution at home and abroad.

The mod has changed a lot over the years and is still being changed and updated every few months. I haven't decided on all details yet, but if there is interest it'd be with a somewhat older setup with a similar map to the one posted below:

Any interest? Questions?

Hell. Yes.

I’m willing to fill in where needed, but otherwise I will take Japan.

EDIT: If we do the most recent version, I'll take the KMT.

I like this kind of situation where I have to fight both people from the right and from the left like Adam Koc!

If we're throwing out nation requests already, I'll put in an early reservation for the Ottoman Empire (with a possible future change of mind).

I'd be interested too and would probably pick Russia or the Union of Britain.

I do suppose if requests are already happening, of course I'd request the Commune.

Interested but also confused why AOG is still a thing.

I still mostly know lore from and play the Darkest Hour version of Kaiserreich since I don't really like HOI4 from a user-interface/mechanics standpoint (and I can't stand their change to India! I love the DH India!) so my initial map plan was based on a version which still had the old China. I used the map above because it was the best one I could find that was both close and had country names in a way that wasn't too ugly.

With the AOG in particular I DID plan to mostly utilize the newer lore since having the Germans directly rule southern China IS fairly silly. What is listed as the AOG will be the League of Seven Provinces, a collection of regional governors and warlords technically in subservience to the Qing. While the main Qing government in recent years has successfully kept the Germans at arms length through a careful diplomatic balancing act, the governors and military leaders of the LSP have instead embraced the "generosity" of the German East Asian General Administration (AOG) to great personal benefit. German influence over the League was made clear in 1931 when Guangxi governor Lu Rongting was assassinated after rejecting a request to cede additional concessions along the border with German Indochina and was replaced instead by Shen Hongying at the suggestion of the board of the AOG. As expected of a series of warlord states ruled over by a corrupt and foreign backed set of thugs, the LSP is fertile ground for nationalists, radicals, and discontents of all kinds while being extremely profitable for German business.

If anyone else has a preferred nation, please let me know. I'll be following up with those who had requests so far on any customization they wanted to do with their governments or to some degree backgrounds for the start. This being an alternate history scenario, I'm willing to be flexible to the extent that changes don't seriously change the gamestate or make the nation dramatically different.

I could play Russia, or the Left-KMT, or perhaps Canada. Maybe Ukraine, I am open-minded.

I would like to play as Infante Jaime, Duke of Segovia. Scenario: he ascends the throne of Spain after the assassination of his father the king and the dictator prime minister by the republicans.

Literally one of my favorite game mods of all time, I'd be very interested depending on when it happens and how busy the holidays become.

Maybe a smaller role, like Madame Sun Yat-sen or something in Siberia.

Wouldn't mind either the Ottomans or Austria! Though one of the warlords such as the Ma Clique or Zhilli Clique/Qing could be fun!
