I must say, Gabby Giffords and Mark Kelly have one of the most heartwarming stories in all of political history. From tragedy to triumph.

When I was a digital fundraiser, I worked with Giffords PAC a lot. She is an absolutely beloved figure in Arizona, and people were eagerly donating to Kelly even back in mid-2021.

I was always confident about this race.

Masters is a pretty weird candidate because he's like the first ever person from that weird Extremely Online right-wing subculture to run for a major office at all. Like he's only slightly older than most of them to boot. It'd be like the Democrats in 2018 running a Chapo Trap House fan in the same state.

With the solid victories of Mark Kelly, John Fetterman, and Gretchen Whitmer, Democrats need to double down on running astronauts, Big Guys, and MILFs.

You can actually access NYT internal data quite easily. I took a look at CO-03 and these are the votes they expect to be left in each county. Obviously they underestimated Pueblo county so there could be other underestimations as well

```
Mesa (R+15.6):   648
Pueblo (D+6.3):   -829
La Plata (D+26.2):   297
Garfield (D+13.6):   238
Montrose (R+25.9):   205
Delta (R+29.1):   158
Montezuma (R+14.6):   124
Pitkin (D+58.4):   700
Gunnison (D+38.5):   90
Archuleta (R+8):   156
Otero (R+17.3):   71
Las Animas (R+2.8]:   66
Alamosa (D+1):   179
Moffat (R+59.5):   54
Rio Grande (R+14):   50
Eagle (D+43.4):   41
San Miguel (D+59.1):   40
Huerfano (D+5.2):   38
Ouray (D+27.1):   35
Conejos (R+5.7):   34
Rio Blanco (R+64.8]:   30
Saguache (D+15.2):   27
Costilla (D+34.3):   16
Dolores (R+49.2):   13
Mineral (R+12.6):   7
Hinsdale (R+7.6):   5
San Juan (D+38.3):   5
```

If we abstract this out and expect that all remaining votes are in line with the existing margins, we end up with the remaining votes being only D+9.2. Which is not enough to dump Boebert

```
DEM: 160,918 + 1,817 = 162,735
GOP: 162,040 + 1,510 = 163,550
```

(this ofc doesn't include the negative numbers)

I said in the AZ-SEN thread that night that this was probably the most effective line of attack against Masters — looks like it worked.

I had never seen Masters’s face before. Yeah, that would be an effective attack.

He looks like Skeletor with hair. Which, funnily enough, is also basically his entire personality.

That's a terrible thing to say about Skeletor.

Between Ukraine beating back Russia and Dems beating back Republicans, 2022 could go down in history as the year of "defying the odds."

And it proves to me there is some good in this world, and worth fighting for.

I'm sure we'll have a shy Öz voter popping out of the woodwork once NV-SEN is called. Cengiz'e selam olsun!

One reason I'm very happy he's losing.

How many episodes of Family Guy do you think Blake Masters has seen?

Our bench is certainly a lot stronger than it was in 2020, that's for sure.

Now that's a coalition I can get behind.

Adding onto this, Masters isn’t even that right-wing in the traditional American sense. The only abortion legislation he’s supported since Dobbs is banning abortion during the 3rd trimester, which is something even a majority of Democrats could get behind. But at the same time, he also has a lot of other “new right” views, which include his staunch nationalism, for instance.

Somehow more episodes of Family Guy than there are episodes of Family Guy.

That's quite the understatement. I feel like we've gone from having no bench to having a fantastic bench in a single election.

Even the flattering profile drawing of Masters looks creepy as hell. He looks like someone who could be cast as a villain who has no lines of dialogue. You just need to see his face. David Lynch would cast this guy from his face alone.

Masters’ fatal mistake was leaning too hard into the groyper/school shooter demographic while running on cutting social security (alienating the other component of the GOP base) in Arizona of all places.

Can’t wait until he crushes Ducey or whoever McConnell tries to put up in the 2024 primary after Trump posts about him on Truth Social, will make the GE even easier for Gallego/Fontes.

No surprise. Young GOP types who run these accounts think being an astronaut means you’re a globalist and aspire to be a Thiel blood boy,

These are people who spend their teenage years genuinely thinking cheap suits will make their peers respect them.

Masters supported a national fetal personhood amendment in the GOP primary and then supported 15 weeks in the general. It’s disingenuous to say that he’s moderate on abortion. What’s ironic is that Masters seems to be a libertarian who only adopted the pro-life stance to win the primary.

Significantly more than the average Republican politician (which is probably low single digits), but significantly less than me.
