NoVA on track for a 2021 redux

Just because the topline turnout is similar doesn’t necessarily mean the results will be the same lol.

I seem to remember a thread on this very forum saying that persuasion, not turnout, made the difference in this year's specials. Hard to imagine that NOT impacting NoVA at least a little bit.

Seriously, my only source of hopium is hoping that Republican polling leads and turnout advantages mean that Dems won’t have a terrible night because these “indicators” are wrong and the opposite has to come true like in other years. It is patently ridiculous but I know some of you feel that way too

CNN exit poll has Biden 45% approve 54% disapprove.

The bar is real low but that is not as bad as I had feared.

Top two issues are inflation and abortion (in that order).

Exactly the same approve disapprove as Trump in the 2018 exit poll.

Don't we tell ourselves not to pay too close attention to early exit polls every year.. then we end up doing that exact thing? lol

Huh, abortion is actually higher than I would've though it'd be (if pressed, I would've thought crime and abortion would've been swapped considering how much those awful Citizens for Sanity ads have been running).

Yeah, and if he himself actually run, he could actually gain five, six or seven points (or a swing of three, four points) and be over 50%, therefore well positioned for reelection. Especially if Republicans in congress overreach.

Great, inflation + crime + immigration = 54% and that’s assuming all abortion and gun policy voters were Dem (not possible)

Btw PQR if you don’t mind me asking who did you ultimately choose for Senate?

Yeah, I'm surprised to see abortion that high.

So, it's literally two datapoints, but I think it's interesting that in Washington State, just 8% say crime is their top issue, while nationally it's at 12%. Not so much because crime is rampant here or anything, but because "vote for me because of crime" has been like 75% of Smiley's Senate campaign.

That abortion-inflation gap isn’t that bad, honestly. Especially taking into account that some D’s are gonna rate inflation high, and a smaller amount of R’s abortion.

And that approval number is the exact same as Trump’s in 2018.

I wonder if they will have a Fav/Unfav question about Trump in the exits.

G*

And I'm being annoyingly quiet about who I voted for, at least for tonight.

It's been clear for several weeks that the GOP is going to win both houses of Congress.

If one of Warnock/Fetterman/Barnes wins I'll consider today successful enough under the circumstances.

I would be so happy if Ron Johnson lost (not that I think he will).
But why? He's awesome a fascist nutjob.

FOX's voter analysis has the Supreme Court at 51% approval.  That has to be a good sign for Republicans.
