Excuse me, but I'm about reality, not pie in the sky promises.

When 2008 comes to an end and there are NOT 18,000 Border Parol agents, will you acknowledge that the promises made by Bush were false?

Considering this is legislation, not "Bush's promise," the answer is no, since I can't tell you if Congress is going to strip funding away from the Border Patrol.  The agreement is on the policy, since you're really only concerned about Bush "lying."  If the goal changes, then you get credit.

Ah, but Congress has not and is highly unlikely to reduce funding for the Border Patrol.

Bush however has consistently failed in the past to implement the hiring of Border Patrol personnel, as provided for by Congress.

So, of the money is there and there are far more applicants than positions to be filled but the positions aren't filled, then will you acknowledge that Bush was simply lying?

No, the agreement is on the policy.  If the policy changes, then you get credit.  It is that simple.

So, as long as Bush SAYS he plans on doubling the strength of the Border Patrol but never actually does so, his empty words constitute policy, but his actions are irrelevant?

Hmm.

Where I come from actions are considered more important that words.

Congress will apporriate all the funds (and probably more) than Bush requests for the Border Patrol, but, we are highly unlikely to have 18,ooo members of the Border Patrol by the end of 2008 because Bush will NOT act to implement such a policy.

If you are going to quibble, I'm not accepting.  Ciao.

So, actions don't count in your world?

But empty promises do?
