Opinions you have that you think are wrong

I think coming to this blog is an acceptable use of my precious time in this planet.

Which is obviously insane and completely wrong and yet I keep doing it…

So true. I know I shouldn’t spend so much time on here, and frequently admonish myself on the hours of a day I spent here rather than doing something better - yet I can’t resist it.

some opinions I have I know I'm right - gay people should be able to marry, if you're an adult, you should legally allowed to do all things other adults can do, it should be legal to exchange money for sex

some opinions I have I'm pretty sure I'm right - abortion should be banned after x number of weeks (with medical exceptions), speed limits should (generally speaking) be raised, trans women shouldn't be able to do competitive sports with non-trans women

some opinions I have rest on fragile ground - we should secure the border more, it should be legal to sell cocaine in gas stations, it should be easier to legally get fully automatic weapons

You really need to take the statement literally? It's a short-hand (and possibly more polite) way of saying "You are confident/arrogant with no reason to be so and should remember that humility is a virtue."

Assuming this has more to do with forecasts/policy than trivia, most things are unknowable, especially for a single human being, so it is best to approach with caveats on what you believe should be the effect of X event/policy. People are too unpredictable to fully understand the social effects of any one action, many unintended. Our dataset to test anything has too many limitations and not enough history. It's generally good to hear what academic specialists think the effects will be since they know best, but even they are susceptible to herding and other blinding biases.

Yeah, well that's the point. Who isn't confident/arrogant in their opinions?  Do you honestly think that people who say "you always think you're right" don't also always think they're right?

I do not have opinions that I think are wrong, no.
