New National Early Vote totals:

September 28, 2022:

Party   Count   Percent
Democrat     6,377   54.2
Republican     2,101   17.9
None/Minor 3,284   27.9
TOTAL     11,762   100.0

I don't know 2020's but for date that contains only NC, PA, and SD it's looking decent.

Although it's encouraging, let's not forget that since 2020, the early vote has skewed Democratic.  And ISTR that the early early vote was especially Democratic, i.e. those Republicans who did vote early were likely to do so closer to Election Day.

That's really awesome news RE: MI. Better than nothing, at least. Even if PA could get 2 days, that would be really incredible. Sadly, I don't have high hopes.

There is a 10 point difference in favor of women voters. I'm not sure what the 2020 numbers were on that but it looks encouraging, although again it's still only a few thousand in.

Sort of related - but good news given the high amount of PA mail-in ballots - judge ruled that voters *will be able to* fix/cure their ballots if any issues arise.

I do not think there is data for mail ballots statewide, but Ada County (home of Boise) at least has some visualizations: https://adacounty.id.gov/elections/absentee-ballot-tracking/

As of 10/4:
  • 32,315 ballots have been issued
  • 1,066 ballots have been returned, for a return rate of 3.3%

Republicans make up 49.7% of the requested ballots, Democrats 27.45%, and Unaffiliated 22.3%.

2018 had a total of 29,019 issued ballots by Election Day, so 2022 ballot requests have already blown past that.

Do you have the party breakdown from 2018?

Unfortunately not, and I don't think the website has that data either.

Total Early Votes: 237,512
Mail Ballots Requested: 8,307,046

Party             Count   Percent
Democrat     60,146   57.9
Republican     26,792   25.8
None/Minor 16,961   16.3
TOTAL    103,899   100.0

North Carolina, the state with the most votes that has early statistics, is showing numbers roughly in line with 2020, if a little better for Democrats.

Now WI and PA need to get their act together.

Not gonna happen in Wisconsin. Thankfully because the counting process is done at the municipal level, this is only really an issue in Milwaukee.

That's interesting, however I would also expect that the "I'm voting by mail for the rest of my life" demographic is very Dem at this point.
