I remember someone saying here that being handsome is a plus, but Gavin Newsom is California handsome, which is a negative.

The issue is that federal leaders are completely gridlocked in by the inertia provided by fillibusters and split control, while state leaders have freedom to do what they want, which is why your desantis, your newsom, your pritzker etc. are all very popular with normies, while people think Biden is a hopeless old man (and thought Trump was an empty windbag and Obama a hollow shell). I know people here will be like "um that's a feature not a bug" but any hopes that these governors can do the impossible is a forlorn one.
