There might be more accurate numbers, but these are the counties I found that I believe that have voted most similarly to their respective states going back to 1876.
1. Alabama: Tuscaloosa County (No difference) 2. Arizona: Maricopa County (1996) 3. Arkansas: Miller County (No change) 4. California: Imperial County (1944, 1948) 5. Colorado: Larimer County (1908, 1932, 1948 elections) 6. Connecticut: Middlesex County (1940, 1944) 7. Delaware: New Castle County (1880 election) 8. Florida: St Lucie's County (2000/disputed, 2004) 9. Georgia: Early County (1996, 2012, 2020) although one of the suburban counties near Atlanta might be a better indicator int he future. 10, Hawaii: Honolulu County (1980) 11, Idaho: Boise County (No change) 12. Illinois: Cook County (1912, 1976, 1980, 1984, 1988). Possibly not the closest but the most reliable. 13. Indiana: Tippercanoe County (1892, 1936, 2020)--Might not be the most reliable anymore 14. Iowa: Cedar County (1948) 15. Kansas: Bourbon County (No change) 16. Kentucky: Bracken County (1896, 1980, 1996 election) 17. Louisiana: Natchitoches Parish (No change) 18. Maine: Cumberland County (1980) although Aroostook is a better indicator for ME-2. 19. Maryland: Howard County (1904, 1908, 1924, 1944, 1968, 1976, 1980 elections) 20. Massachusetts: Hampden County (1980 election) 21. Michigan: Isabella County (1896, 1936, 1944, 1960, 1968, 2020 elections) 22. Hennepin County (1912, 1960, 1960 elections)--Possibly not the closest but the most reliable. 23. Mississippi: Covington County: (No change) 24. Missouri: St. Francois County (1940, 1944, 1956, 1960, 1988 elections) 25. Montana: Sanders County (1916, 1924 elections) 26. Nebraska: Hastings County (No change) 27. Nevada: Washoe County (1912, 1944, 1948, 1960, 1992, 1996 elections)--Possibly not the closest but the most reliable 28. New Hampshire: Sullivan County (1912, 1936, 2016 elections) 29. New Jersey: Burlington County (1976 election) 30. New Mexico: Dona Ana County (1912, 1916, 2004 elections) 31. New York: Erie County (1884, 1936, 1948, 1980, 1984 elections) 32. North Carolina: New Hanover County (2008, 2020 elections)--Less reliable prior to Jim Crow. 33. North Dakota: Stutsman County (No change) 34. Ohio: Wood County (1936, 1940, 1948, 1976 elections) 35. Oklahoma: Custer County (No change) 36. Oregon: Hood River County (1944 election) 37. Pennsylvania: Luzerne County (1892, 1928, 1932, 2020 elections)--May no longer be the most reliable 38. South Carolina: Newbury County (1952 election) 39. South Dakota: Clark County (No change) 40. Tennessee Meigs County (1916, 1924 elections) 41. Texas: Bell County (1952, 1956 elections) 42. Utah: Wasatch County (1900 election) 43. Vermont: Bennington County (No change) 44. Virginia: Loudon County (No change) 45. Washington: King County (No change) 46. Wyoming: Platte County (No change) 47. West VIrginia: Raleigh County (1912 election) 48. Wisconsin: Adams County (1892, 1912, 2020 elections) Alaska: Anchorage (Not the most accurate but the most reliable)
