10. He wanted to be God.
When Karl Marx was just a teenager, he developed a plan to write a “manifesto of pure egoism” that would establish his god-like status, using the pseudonym “Cabala”. He failed in this attempt, and later abandoned his writings under this pseudonym in favor of a Marxist-derived pseudonym.

Karl Marx was a first cousin twice removed of Robert Owen, a Welsh industrialist and social reformer who founded an experimental utopian socialist community called New Harmony, Indiana. Robert Owen was a friend of his father’s, and it was said that Owen visited Marx’s parents when the young Karl was just 7 years old.
