Such an objective supreme court justice.

Fairly sure I'm still allowed to have opinions on the state of the game. When have I ever said anything about any legal issues? It's not like I'm arguing any legislative policy or anything here.

The game now has gone to sh**t. I don't think literally anyone would dispute that. And it's the cumulative fault of almost everyone involved.

How so?

If you want to discuss the current state of the game, I ask politely if you can do so in another thread. I'd prefer for this to remain focused on the news stories and regret not saying this earlier.

Well he said it started 8 months ago, so it wasnt all the bad behavior leading up to and during the Kansas crap. That also means it wasnt the 3 year period during which only 1 party ran everything and made it not fun for literally everyone not in that party. Hmmm ... the only difference would be that Labor is not running the game. Curious.

The game has gone to sh**t because an attempt to purchase Greenland was made?

It is funny to see the "as an unemployed leftwing liberal pro gressive, I of course would turn down $80K, a 20% annual raise, a free house and vehicle, and more autonomy than I currently have if it means drilling icky dirty oil by icky southerners who arent in Philcord" responses to this as though human nature and game theory havent been considered.

The offer is better for the vast majority of Greenlanders than the status quo or independence. Rational actors would choose the option if you dont view them through the racist lens of the "noble savage".
This is, uh, something. I think it’s worthwhile to note that polls irl indicate Greenlanders favor outright independence, in spite of the economic hardship that it might bring. Concepts like nationhood and self-determination are not easily set aside.

I mean, sh#t, I’m the leftist here! If anything, you’d think we’d be making the materialist argument.

Except Greenland, both IRL and in game, has repeatedly elected Inuit Ataqatigiit to government on the main policy of blocking new mining. Almost as if many voters value culture more than cold hard cash!

I don't know if GMs posted figures before for Greenland elections specifically but they won 37% last time IRL. A plurality, but far from a majority alone.

And they're in government thanks to their coalition partner Naleraq who also oppose new mining projects. In an election campaign framed by all parties as a referendum on the rare earths mine.
Also important to note, when Trump raised the issue every single party in parliament opposed it outright! There's no reason they'd magically change their mind just because YT says pretty please, cultural preservation and gradual self-sufficiency is of utmost importance to Greenland.

Atlasia, though, is significantly to the left of the U.S. IOTL and Cao, who the deal was struck under, is not Trump by any means.

Greenlandic Government Collapses, Snap Election to be Held in May

By Weatherboy and Forumlurker

Nuuk, Greenland - After a 10th straight day of IA supporters protesting loudly outside the Parliament in Nuuk, and several days of protests in major cities around the island, tensions in Greenland reached a boiling point. Buoyed by squabbles between newly inaugurated President Tack50 and Governor YoungTexan, the attempts to end the deal by Tack (which leave the status of it in limbo) and recent re-discovery of the South’s seal clubbing ban by Greenlandic media, popular support for snap elections, and an end to the potential deal with the South, has increased. The IA seems to be fully behind this, seeing a spike in support in a recent poll taken after the non-binding referendum. After previously refusing to do so due to “potential instability such a move would cause”, Prime Minister Múte Bourup Egede has announced his resignation, and IA announced their withdrawal from the government, causing it to completely collapse in on itself. With no party able to form government, a snap election was near-unanimously approved in the parliament, to be held on May 3rd, which some MPs are hopeful will be after the upheaval in Atlasia ends.

With moves still happening in Atlasia, this entire episode puts a massive question mark on what happens next.

Current polling shows that IA is making strong gains, mostly off the back of anti-deal Siumut and Naleraq voters, however another party, NQ, is also making gains, thanks to their hardline independence platform and extremely strong stance against the deal. Unless something changes, anti-deal parties will hold a majority.

POLLING: 2023 GREENLANDIC GENERAL ELECTION
INUIT ATAQATIGIIT [Community of the People]: 45.9% 14 seats (+2) [Democratic Socialism, anti-deal]
SIUMUT [Forward]: 23.8% 8 seats (-2) [Social Democracy, previously pro-deal, now has vocal anti-deal faction]
NALERAQ [Point of Orientation]: 10.3% 3 seats (-1) [Populism, previously pro-deal, now has vocal anti-deal faction]
DEMOKRAATIT [Democrats]: 9.0% 3 seats (+/- 0) [Social Liberal, pro-deal]
ATASSUT [Solidarity]: 6.1% 2 seats (+/- 0) [Conservative Liberal, pro-deal]
NUNATTA QITORNAI [Descendants of Our Homeland]: 4.2% 1 seat (+1) [Social Democracy, Decentralization, anti-deal]
SULEQATIGIISSITSISUT [Cooperation]: 0.7% 0 seats (+/- 0) [Liberal, pro-Denmark, anti-deal]

Statement of inaction:

Hello, I know I have not churned out a collection of stories recently, and I just wanted to clarify I still have been planning and watching legislation, I have just been swamped with irl stuff. However with the end of most of my finals on the 28th, I fully expect to have something out by May 3rd. Thank you for your patience and I do apologize for the delays.

As I'm sure everyone is aware, there has been ongoing negotiations between the South and Greenland dating back to my tenure as part of the GM Team. The reason I left the GM Team, was because of Southern President (then Governor) Young Texan's obnoxious and belligerent attitude that caused a severe drop in my morale that left me unable to continue as a member of the team.

In the interests of full disclosure, I am posting all DM's between myself and YT on the Greenland issue.

YoungTexan — 02/06/2023 4:34 PM
Lemme know if you need the copy
I think forumlurker shared
But just lmk if you have any questions or information you’d like
NewYorkExpress — 02/06/2023 4:35 PM
Please send it to both myself and Weatherboy forthwith.
YoungTexan — 02/06/2023 4:35 PM
Yes!
Okay
Lemme ask you
If it’s not the South, despite us footing funds and giving them special southern trust funds
Would Greenland back out of the deal
NewYorkExpress — 02/08/2023 11:45 AM
Can't talk right now.
YoungTexan — 02/08/2023 11:46 AM
When you can.
NewYorkExpress — 02/08/2023 12:06 PM
I think your answer will be in the next GM update.
YoungTexan — 02/08/2023 12:07 PM
When are y’all releasing it then lol
NewYorkExpress — 02/08/2023 12:07 PM
Soon.

As I understand, the current GM Team will be releasing a formal statement some time tomorrow, in the interest of full transparency. Any DM's of mine released in that statement have been released with my express permission.

I won’t provide the official answer yet because I need to consult, but my personal position is that for domestic news it would be allowed, although it will depend on the scope of the news (e.g a small scale protest/meme event localized in Fremont is okay, a large scale natural disaster/political thing you should consult with us first)

DOMESTIC NEWS

SVB bank collapses

By Forumlurker

APRIL 2, 2023

Santa Clara, Atlasia - Already, Silicon Valley was bracing for tough times with large scale layoffs amidst an unfavorable business environment for tech companies and a stagnating greater economy due to rate hikes. However, things took a turn for the worst this week with the complete collapse of the Silicon Valley Bank. There is panic in the already economically spiraling Bay Area and in tech cities elsewhere across Atlasia, and some have speculated that this is the harbinger of a major recession, with investor Warren Buffett calling a recession “imminent.”

Terrorist attack in St Louis busch stadium

By Forumlurker

APRIL 17, 2023

St Louis, Atlasia - It was supposed to be a triumphant victory in a city and region so desperately in need of hope amongst chaos. On April 16th, the St Louis Cardinals were expected to wipe the floor in their match against Pittsburgh, with thousands of enthusiastic fans watching. The game received a lot more media attention than usual because of local politicians from both St Louis and Pittsburgh trading friendly jabs on Twitter trash talking each other’s teams, with even the St Louis mayoral office proclaiming April 16th to be designated as the “Cardinals Victory Day” in city calendars. A blowout it was memed to be, and a blowout it was. At the fifth inning of the round, all seemed normal, until a massive boom echoed across the stadium and gunshots could be heard at the entrances. An explosive rigged inside the stadium blew up and tripwires were set to create a stampeding effect (which did happen) at least half a dozen shooters who had infiltrated security guard ranks were positioned near the entrances, mowing down fleeing civilians. The death count as of now is 102 people, placing this attack on par with events such as the Las Vegas shooting and a bit below the Oklahoma City bombings. Investigators remained puzzled as to the exact motives of the group, but those identified did have links to a domestic Black Nationalist Movement, with some speculating this event was a terrorist attack.

NEW ROUND OF PROTESTS FLARE UP ACROSS SOUTH IN RESPONSE TO SOVEREIGNTY CONTINUITY PROCEDURES AMENDMENT AND SOUTHERN FREEDOM ACT

By Weatherboy

APRIL 19, 2023

Nashville, TN - A new round of protests have sprung up across the south this week as newly-titled Southern President YoungTexan signed two new bills that bring the South far closer to outright secession. Though still small, considering the minority of the population being adamantly against the moves, these protests have been stronger, with a focus on occupying parks and other public spaces to raise awareness, in a move dubbed “Occupy South” by protesters. One protest in Greenville, SC sees Falls Park being completely occupied by protesters, with students and teachers from the South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts joining in the protests by effectively shutting down the school. Currently, the Greenville Occupation is still ongoing, although it has been mostly peaceful, with only 3 persons arrested for rioting related offenses.

Other notable protests have occurred in Mobile, Alabama (where protesters are currently occupying Bienville Square), Miami, Florida (where Bayfront Park has been packed with protesters, including former Mayor Maria Diaz), Key West, Florida (where protesters marched from Mallory Square to block off the Overseas Highway to incoming traffic as it enters the island, with a “border checkpoint” for the Conch Republic), Baltimore, Maryland (where Carroll Park has been occupied), and Nyman (where the protests have been largest, with crowds swarming the National Mall calling for Congress and President Tack to intervene). As of now, an additional 48 people have been arrested for rioting, with 3 more deaths. Two in Liberal, Kansas after an unknown man firebombed the local police headquarters (current suspicions are that the man is part of a Fremont Irredentist group), and another in Nashville when a local college student, identified as Apollo DePascale, attempted to charge into the Southern Capitol Building and was shot fatally by security.

DePascale has become a martyr for some of the more radical protesters, who now directly blame YT for the 22-year-old’s death.

Although it’s believed a majority of Southerners still approve of YT’s actions, there are still some questions as to how many are beginning to turn against him.

Inflation continues to decline, but rent prices jump, DC area the worst, exception is bay area which is seeing a collapse in prices due to dropping demand

By Forumlurker

APRIL 25, 2023

Nyman, Atlasia - As inflation continues to ease, having dropped from its annual 8.9% back in February to now just 6.5% over the past year, there still is one holdout which stubbornly has resisted the recent trend of dropping prices, housing. Specifically, rent and housing prices are up by over 15% in the past year, nearly triple the actual inflation rate. Why this stark discrepancy? Well, many experts do believe that a lack of inventory, a surge of millennial buyers, and a mismatch in demand (large cities are the most impacted while many rural parts of Atlasia actually have seen housing cost decreases) The worst city currently is the DC metropolitan area, with rent prices having surged post-pandemic and being up 25% from last year alone with experts pointing towards a lack of supply. One standout to note is the SF Bay Area, which has seen a net drop in housing and rent prices from last year, which experts attribute to a struggling local economy and reduced demand. However for most Atlasias, the situation is dire, with nearly 70% reporting significant financial strain according to a poll conducted by Memerson College.

Police caused near Death of homeless man, James Green, sparks controversy in Dallas

By Forumlurker

APRIL 30, 2023

Dallas, Atlasia - In a late night patrol, an unarmed 43 year old black male was caught by police dumpster diving and accosted. Upon receiving orders, he did not respond, prompting police to attempt to arrest the man. Some shouting is heard, and clear confusion from the man on what is going on. The police then proceeded to grab him and slam him into a wall, prompting what later was found to be a seizure. The police however, took it as a sign of resistance, and held him in a chokehold as they handcuffed the man. The man was then finally seen by medical support who had arrived and found the man unresponsive. He was eventually resuscitated but in severe condition with potentially life-lasting brain trauma. His medical history did reveal an opiate addiction he had sought treatment for back in 2017, along with deafness and epilepsy. The incident has led to protests across the city by several groups, especially within the black community. Protests have been ongoing for a couple of days in the DFW area, with small reports of looting in downtown Dallas.

Election Amendments Package met with Scrutiny

By Joseph Cao

MAY 3, 2023

NASHVILLE, TN: The introduction of the Election Amendments Package in the House of Burgesses on Wednesday has been greeted with renewed scrutiny of recent electoral reforms in the South. Amendments offered in the package include removing Article VII, which empowers citizens to petition for recalls of regional elected officials, and citizens' ability to submit constitutional amendments to the legislature. One other bill, the Speedy Referendums Amendment, is also on the floor.

While the Sovereignty Contingency Procedures Amendment and Southern Freedom Act have attracted widespread notoriety across Atlasia in recent weeks, a raft of queued bills introduced a week prior to the EAP have flown under the radar. They propose to restrict the ability of non-incumbents to run for election (Guaranteeing Fair Elections Act), overhaul qualification procedures for write-in candidacies (Early Bird Does Indeed Get the Worm Act), and ban non-SNP political parties from ballot access (Vox Populi Act).

Southern administration officials defended the changes. "We’ve stressed that any reforms are made in light of changing circumstances in the Southern Nation, with the goal of boosting governance," said a spokesman for the YT/Saint administration. "We need to fully and accurately implement the intent of our Constitution. What happened last year, with citizens joining in the assault on us, could not be prevented by our existing system," an apparent reference to Southern NKT members implicated in Operation Downfall, "so we must adopt suitable measures to prevent further destruction." He added that "there are multiple channels for Southern patriots to engage with their lawfully elected government."

"I don't think we have a choice," Tulsa resident Mary Freeman, 38, volunteered when asked for her thoughts on the proposed reforms. "What Frémont did, the looting and killing, it makes me very afraid of any region trying to do that to us again. We have to protect ourselves however we can."
Pushback among good-government advocates and the "minor party's" [sic] affected by the proposed electoral reform has been swift and condemnatory.

"What this demonstrates is a complete lack of trust in the Southern people," Florida State University professor of political science Eunice Burns wrote in an op-ed shortly before the EAP was brought to the floor on Wednesday. "It's clearly a regression for our legislature that will hinder, not help, their stated goal of maintaining stability in the South as long as Southern folks' right to public opinion is restricted by the party affiliation after their name."

André Bowman and Travis Hodges, former leaders of their respective caucuses (Federalist and DA) in the Kentucky state legislature, separately denounced the moves as "plunging us into one-party rule at the regional level." Both men have aimed similar criticisms at past and present Labor presidential administrations.

The bills, like several dozen others introduced in the previous session, are expected to pass the House of Burgesses without dissenting votes.

Tensions Mounting Nationwide over Secessionist Rhetoric

By Forumlurker and Joseph Cao

MAY 6, 2023

New York, NY: In a stunning move after weeks of secessionist rhetoric/laws passed by the Southern region, with the most recent being a bill to cut off oil pipelines towards Lincoln (a move which has caused gas prices to surge across the region) Governor Oleg of the Lincoln region upped the stakes by announcing a full affirmation of Lincoln towards protecting the president of Atlasia, while setting up military plans and calling a general voluntary draft of the territorial defense. Southern Governor YT's office called the moves "disproportional" with many across the region conflicted and confused as to the extent of the situation. Meanwhile, Fremont Governor Ishan has affirmed his region's support for the union. Whether or not the South is attempting to secede from the union is a question which for months has puzzled legal scholars and political observers, and recently has begun to show salience even among the general public, with several instances on both side of the Southern and Lincoln/Fremont border of storeowners outright refusing service and with one instance of county emergency services on the Texas-New Mexico border directing ambulances to not cross the state borders (which has since been removed and is an isolated case) However it is clear that as the months of rhetoric and bills go on, the very fabric of the union may be unraveling in real time.

Asked whether the leaders involved should take the necessary steps to back off from further escalation, or continue on their present course, several polls and interviews have found overwhelming margins in favor of the former option.

South faces threats of lawsuits over new school curriculum

By Forumlurker

MAY 6, 2023

Nyman, Atlasia - Civil Rights groups have threatened to sue the south over school curriculum mandating the showing of “The Passion of the Christ” and the usage of a A Measuring Rod to Test Text Books in Schools, Colleges, and Libraries in determining suitable textbooks. The Passion of the Christ is a movie depicting the journeys of Jesus Christ which has also been on the receiving end of criticism for anti-semitic tropes. The lawsuit calls into question the mandated showing of a religious film to all students. Additionally, the usage of “A Measuring Rod to Test Text Books in Schools, Colleges, and Libraries” for determining school textbooks has come under extreme controversy, with the NAACP calling it “literally insane.” This pamphlet was published by prominent white supremacist speaker Mildred Lewis Rutherford and has been described as Confederate Sympathizing revisionism. The change to curriculum passed easily in the Southern government and is now law that has since gone into effect. How the South will deal with such lawsuits remains to be seen.

Xi Jinping elected to third term

By Forumlurker

MARCH 10, 2023

Beijing, PRC - In an unsurprising turn of events, Xi Jinping has been re-elected unanimously to an unprecedented third term. In his speech to the Assembly upon being re-elected, Xi emphasized return to normal in China after Covid-19, improved labor regulations, and expanding infrastructure across the country. Not present in his speech was any mention of Taiwan, a rather interesting thing to note given recent tensions over the island. This is potentially due to the soreness over the failed blockade from last year hurting Xi’s popularity. However, Xi Jinping did promise to “maintain the territorial dignity of the People’s Republic.” Outside observers were more or less expecting this turn of events given the authoritarian nature of the country and Xi’s iron grasp on power.

South African protests over blackouts

By Forumlurker

MARCH 30, 2023

Durban, South Africa - Due to serious mismanagement facilitated by government corruption, South Africa has been under a state of increasingly long electricity blackouts in order to preserve the grid. This has made life extremely difficult and downright unbearable for millions across the nation, with the worst impacts being felt among working class communities who have been disproportionately the target of these blackouts. For months, many of South Africa’s cities had already been slipping into chaos under these increasing blackouts, with the already crime ridden nation falling into what some locals call “complete anarchy” in the midst of these blackouts. Protests have begun to emerge across the country, with one in particular in Durban leading to a clash between police and civilians (although with no casualties reported by official numbers) and massive looting of stores. Many South African Indians have also become the increasing targets of hate crimes within the country being scapegoated by ANC politicians for these blackouts, prompting a rise in armed groups among the population.

Finnish Election: Finns Party wins narrowest of pluralities, questions of government formation loom

By Weatherboy and Forumlurker

APRIL 3, 2023

Helsinki, Finland - The tide of right-wing populism has swept into Finland, it appears, but only barely. In the elections held in April, the right-wing populist and eurosceptic Finns Party won one of the narrowest pluralities possible, by just under a tenth of a percent, over the National Coalition Party. Due to the closeness of the two parties, both got 47 of 200 seats. There is now an open question of which party will end up forming government, as the potentially kingmaking Swedish People’s Party far prefers the Coalition than Finns. The Coalition had previously ruled out a government with the Finns, but any government would need the support of two of the 3 top finishing parties. The possibility for a Finns-Coalition-Christian Democrat-Movement government does exist, but would not have an absolute majority, only reaching 100 seats. Government formation may end up being a lengthy process ending in a new election.

Although some may feel relieved with the failure of the Finns Party to win a convincingly large plurality, the reasons why may be less so. The far-right and russophilic party Power Belongs to the People, led by former Finns Party member Ano Turtiainen, got nearly 1% of the vote, though falling short by a large margin to elect a MP. Still, they took enough from the Finns to have swung the election towards the Coalition, something which has set Finland in a different direction than what otherwise could have occurred. With an election this close, only a few seats changing hands could have handed government formation more solidly to the Finns.

SDP leader and PM Sanna Marin announced her resignation from the party leadership shortly after the election results, apologizing to SDP voters for the loss.

Brazil moves away from dollar

By Forumlurker

APRIL 15, 2023

Brasilia, Brazil - President Lula Da Silva recently announced that trade between China and Brazil would be shifted away from the ATD in a process known by economists as “dedollarization”. As of now, China is currently Brazil’s largest trading partner, having passed Atlasia in the 2010s and now making up nearly 30% of all of the country’s total trade. In the following days, there were numerous predictions rumored online regarding the imminent collapse of the dollar, something which experts do not currently believe is likely, despite this diplomatic blow to Atlasia.

GREENLAND POLLS: PRO-DEAL PARTIES FLOUNDERING AFTER SOUTHERN MOVES TOWARDS INDEPENDENCE, ANTI-DEAL PARTIES QUESTION EFFICACY OF DEAL SHOULD SOUTH BECOME INDEPENDENT

By Weatherboy

APRIL 17, 2023

Nuuk, Greenland - Recent polls for the Greenlandic snap election, to be held on May 15, show a shocking turn against the pro-southern deal parties after the South’s recent moves towards independence.

After the victory of the pro-deal side in the referendum mere weeks ago, the instability in the South and question of the deal being still on the table due to President Tack’s actions have brought the appeal of it to record low levels. The recent moves towards independence have only doubled the turn, as IA has made a major point of their campaign towards those who voted “Aye” in the referendum that the South on its own would be unable to carry out the deal as negotiated, leading to a worse deal for Greenland. Amazingly, IA has been shown potentially getting over 50% of the vote, a record for the party if true. These results would instantly kill the deal should they come to fruition.

Meanwhile, the SNP convention in Nuuk has made disdain even higher, with many protesters threatening to blockade the airport to prevent YT and others from leaving.

POLLING: 2023 GREENLANDIC GENERAL ELECTION (+/- seats vs 2021 election)
INUIT ATAQATIGIIT: 52.1% 16 seats (+4) [Democratic Socialism, anti-deal]
SIUMUT: 19.2% 6 seats (-4) [Social Democracy, mixed, leans pro-deal]
NALERAQ: 9.9% 3 seats (-1) [Populism, mixed, leans pro-deal]
DEMOKRAATIT: 6.3% 2 seats (-1) [Social Liberal, pro-deal]
NUNATTA QITORNAI: 5.6% 2 seats (+2) [Social Democracy, Decentralization, anti-deal]
ATASSUT: 5.0% 1 seat (-1) [Conservative Liberal, pro-deal]
SULEQATIGIISSITSISUT: 1.9% 1 seat (+1) [Liberal, pro-Denmark, anti-deal]

Anti-Atlasian sentiment rises in Greenland.

By Forumlurker

APRIL 26, 2023

Nuuk, Greenland - It was supposed to be a triumphant moment for Governor YT, by day one it had become a national mockery. The Southern Nationalist Party (SNP) decided to hold their convention in Nuuk, Greenland, an autonomous region of Denmark which the Southern region of Atlasia has been attempting to purchase. Expecting a warm welcome, instead many of the NP attendees (a large number of whom came without passports, were detained by authorities and deported to Atlasia) among those who did attend the convention, it was not as well received as hoped, with the largest protests to date in Greenland taking place outside of the convention center (depicted as a tall golden hotel in advertising, but in reality a fairly small inn hosted due to larger hotels refusing) Notable among the protestors were those who actively voted in the referendum for the bill, with one anonymous man stating “They rung on TV this was a Greenlandic Independence Bill, they never told us we were being sold to another colonizer. We were lied to.”

However it was not just the SNP overestimated the warmth of their reception. Attempting to rally Greenlandic voters in support of Pro-Independence parties, the Peace Party of Atlasia attempted to conduct several campaign events across Nuuk. However, in a moment which has since become a viral meme among Danish and Greenlandic social media, a fully booked restaurant which was hosted out for a speaking event was completely void, with only a couple of staff members of the restaurant proceeding as normal. Although certainly not a strong protest, the non existent speech also proves that Atlasia as a country may be more disliked than before among Greenlanders as a result of the political saga.

GREENLAND ELECTION: CAMPAIGN GETS UGLY - IA ACCUSES OTHER PARTIES OF ACCEPTING OIL BRIBES, OTHERS ATTACK IA FOR “FOREIGN INTERFERENCE”

By Weatherboy

APRIL 26, 2023

Nuuk, Greenland - The past week has seen Greenland’s election turn into one of the most ugly and negative the island has ever seen, as mudslinging on both sides regarding “foreign interference” has grown substantially as the election nears.

Stine Egede, previously an IA backbencher and now mayor of Kujalleq municipality, has loudly accused other parties local officials, especially Siumut, of accepting bribes from oil companies looking to explore in Greenland. Further, they accuse these bribes of being given in return for moving the date of the non-binding referendum forward, “before the people could see behind the lies of the southern deal”. The officials she has accused have loudly rejected these accusations, calling them baseless. Even others in IA appear to be cautious of the claims, though only a handful have denounced them as well.

Meanwhile, the Peace Party of Atlasia’s endorsement of IA, though originally appreciated by the IA, has been weaponized against them as “accepting foreign interference in Greenland’s elections” by other parties, especially by the hardline independence supporters in Nunatta Qitornai. One new poll has been conducted since the accusations and attacks began, showing more favorable movement towards Nunatta Qitornai and Siumut compared to the one from a week and a half ago.

With only a few short weeks left to go, it is clear this election could still go in many different directions.

POLLING: 2023 GREENLANDIC GENERAL ELECTION (+/- seats vs 2021 election)
INUIT ATAQATIGIIT: 44.1% 14 seats (+2) [Democratic Socialism, anti-deal]
SIUMUT: 23.7% 7 seats (-3) [Social Democracy, mixed, leans pro-deal]
NALERAQ: 9.9% 3 seats (-1) [Populism, mixed, leans pro-deal]
NUNATTA QITORNAI: 7.8% 2 seats (+2) [Social Democracy, Decentralization, anti-deal]
DEMOKRAATIT: 7.0% 2 seats (-1) [Social Liberal, pro-deal]
ATASSUT: 5.5% 2 seats (+/- 0) [Conservative Liberal, pro-deal]
SULEQATIGIISSITSISUT: 2.0% 1 seat (+1) [Liberal, pro-Denmark, anti-deal]

Iran and Saudi Arabia reopen talks

By Forumlurker

APRIL 28, 2023

Tehran, Iran - Despite the continuing proxy war in Yemen and clashes within the Persian Gulf, Saudi Arabia and Iran have stunned outside observers by agreeing to hold talks discussing the thawing of relations, with some insiders even mentioning the possibility of embassies between the two countries reopening, a dramatic departure from the historically frosty relationship these two Middle Eastern superpowers had with each other. All of this was conducted with the support of Xi Jinping, who has been reportedly seeking to reconcile these two and other countries in a full campaign united against Atlasia.

Peru refuses to hand over Castillo, mocks senator Laki

By Forumlurker

APRIL 29, 2023

Lima, Peru - Despite significant concern and a call for the extradition of former president, Pedro Castillo to safety by now both Mexico and Atlasia, the Peruvian interim government has not budged, citing “security concerns” and warning both countries to stay out of Peru’s internal affairs. On the Peruvian Congressional floor, one member of the body was caught on camera impersonating both Mexican president Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, President Tack of Atlasia, and Senator Laki. Expert voice impersonators have debated over the quality of the impression, although the general consensus is that it was “decent, but lacked key tone and speaking style differentiations”. Protests continue to rock the Andean nation, as the UN continues to report potential human rights abuses and a spiraling economy.

“Southern administration officials defended the changes. "We’ve stressed that any reforms are made in light of changing circumstances in the Southern Nation, with the goal of boosting governance," said a spokesman for the YT/Saint administration. "We need to fully and accurately implement the intent of our Constitution. What happened last year, with citizens joining in the assault on us, could not be prevented by our existing system," an apparent reference to Southern NKT members implicated in Operation Downfall, "so we must adopt suitable measures to prevent further destruction." He added that "there are multiple channels for Southern patriots to engage with their lawfully elected government."”

I don’t have a spokesperson, I don’t authorize people speaking on my behalf when you can literally just message me my opinion.

Not a credible GM.
We were simply drawing on a long precedent of using spokespersons as proxies. I do recognize why you are frustrated and if you do not agree with this comment, encourage you to make a statement against it and fire the probable intern who totally screwed up lol.

I will personally also state for the record that I am confident in GM Cao’s credibility as a GM and is a strong addition to our team and disagree with your assessment.

I'm going to add to my former colleagues's statement by pointing out that despite my displeasure with your behavior over the past months, I never would have left the team if I didn't have trust in Cao to do a competent job.

Throwing insults the way you are is no way to treat the GM Team.
