Stassen pulls the upper midwest and plains states into the GOP column while losing support in New England. On the net, this leaves him in a weaker position than Dewey without a clear path to a majority. The lack of Dewey makes New York unwinnable, and Ohio is not going to be friendly to Stassen. Worse still, the brunt of his overperformance is wasted on titanium D states in the south while he loses ground in critical swing states.
