Unpopular opinion: figurehead monarchies are more offensive as a concept than rulers who, you know, actually do things.

Ordinarily, sure. But the UK's electorate is in no position to decide anything for itself right now. If anything, the monarchy should be empowered for a temporary period of time to steer the ship of state in the right direction, and, thereupon, relinquish power to The People.
