Also shall note that in the OG Blank Canvas TL, the very same refinery had an explosion the year before. Evidence of that is posted here for reference:

July 18, 2024
DOZENS KILLED, HUNDREDS INJURED IN EXPLOSION AT FORT MOORE; TERRORISM RULED OUT AS CAUSE OF EXPLOSION
An explosion Thursday afternoon on the grounds of Fort Moore (formerly Fort Benning) in Georgia left 39 dead and over 400 injured, many of them active service members with the U.S. Army as well as contractors hired by the Department of Defense to work on base. According to eyewitness accounts, the explosion reportedly happened around 1 p.m. Eastern time when an electrical short in a climate-controlled room within the Logistics Readiness Center enveloped into a massive fireball that flashed over and set off subsequent explosions, destroying warehouses on the property and causing significant damage to much of the military vehicle fleet on base. Some of the fatalities were so critically burned that dental records will be necessary to identify some of the victims, while at least 60 others were critically injured to the point where they had to be transported to hospitals well outside the surrounding Columbus, Georgia area; hospitals in Atlanta, Birmingham, Macon and Huntsville have been on standby, with Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta reportedly diverting its own local trauma cases to other nearby hospitals to accommodate the most seriously injured victims from the Fort Moore blast.

President Biden spoke to the nation in a rare Oval Office address, calling the explosion "a senseless and horrible tragedy affecting one of our nation's most elite and storied Army institutions - Fort Banning (sic) - Fort Moore I shall say" and "vowing a complete and thorough investigation after the deceased are buried into why this happened, and what can be done to ensure a tragedy of this magnitude never happens again". Attorney General Merrick Garland also ruled out the possibility that terrorism played a role in the explosion, "Based on records we have obtained so far, there is no evidence to suggest that any sort of terrorism against our military occurred at Fort Moore this afternoon", while Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin pointed out that "Given how relatively new these facilities are, a lot of work is going to be put into finding out why such relatively new facilities on the grounds of Fort Moore could not withstand the impact of this explosion".

Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp ordered flags lowered to half-staff across the state, with President Biden expanding the order to a federal mandate shortly after his primetime address. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis also issued his thoughts and condolences to the victims of the explosion, while several other Republicans began to probe the origins of the tragedy. House Armed Services Committee Chairman Mike Rogers, whose Alabama district borders Fort Moore, has also held off on assigning blame for the tragedy but has already indicated that "our committee is going to get to the bottom of why this happened and will be working closely with authorities at the Pentagon and locally to pinpoint the cause of this explosion". Particularly in Georgia and nearby Alabama, the explosion has also prompted long lines for blood donations at blood banks throughout the Southeast, while numerous charity benefits benefiting the victims and families of both the injured and killed service members have also begun to pop up.

July 19, 2024
21 DEAD, OVER 200 INJURED IN EXPLOSION AT REFINERY IN HOUSTON
Not even a full 24 hours after the disaster at Fort Moore in Georgia, an explosion at a chemical plant on the Houston Ship Channel awakened thousands of residents just before the sun was up at 6 a.m. The explosion occurred at the Pemex refinery in Deer Park, an industrial suburb of Houston where neighbors were awakened to the sound of a loud bang, burning petroleum and sirens of first responders racing to the scene. By afternoon, 21 were confirmed dead and more than 200 were injured including several with third-degree burns, along with reports of damage as far west as Sugar Land, Galveston and The Woodlands and dozens more injured from shattered glass and debris as windows were blown out of many downtown Houston skyscrapers. Houston freeways were also shut down as reports of damage along Interstate 10 from Baytown to the Memorial area of west Houston, along with a frantic push by authorities to clear the freeways for ambulances and fire trucks, disrupted the morning commute in the nation's fourth-largest city.

Following news of a second straight disaster in as many days, President Biden addressed the nation once again at 8 P.M. Central time, declaring "Our hearts go out to the victims of the horrible tragedy in Houston, victims of a disaster that did not have to happen", perhaps alluding to the oil and gas industry that has been singled out by the Biden administration from day one over the nature of its industry. Republicans blasted the speech, with Ron DeSantis calling the President's concerns "hollow" and calling on Kamala Harris to decide whether or not to align with "far-left radicals" who back her party's "Green New Deal" or with working-class voters "who wonder if the Democratic Party even wants them anymore". Senate Majority Leader John Cornyn, the senior Senator from Texas, arrived at Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston on Friday evening and immediately vowed "a thorough investigation into what happened at the Pemex refinery", and also called out Democrats for "attempting to politicize this tragedy for their own benefit". His Senate colleague, Sen. Ted Cruz, was already in the area when the explosion happened and took to Fox News late that evening: "The Biden administration will use any sort of tragedy involving the oil and gas industry to force the Great Reset on Americans who don't want it, period."

Gov. Greg Abbott canceled his entire weekend schedule to focus on recovery and healing efforts with regards to the tragedy, and also lambasted his Democratic counterparts for "attempting to politicize yet another tragedy in our great state solely for the purpose of radically transforming this state". "Of course, we must give thoughts and prayers, and that is what the victims and their families want. Let us grieve now and let's discuss the why behind this later, because justice is not going to come in the form of vengeance with impulse", said Abbott. As of Friday evening, crude oil prices reportedly shot up more than nine percent, with gas prices expected to rise in the coming days, bringing back memories of 2022's historically high gas price crunch that doomed President Biden's agenda in that year's midterm elections.

Also, note that the refinery says Pemex instead of Shell. Shell sold its stake in this refinery earlier this year. In other words, expect Mexico to get involved in this matter as well, if not for the fact that Mexican nationals have to be amongst the dead since a large portion of the workers and contractors killed here are certain to be Hispanic. It also wouldn't shock me if this is viewed as a dark day in the Hispanic community in much the same vein as the Mexico City earthquake, the murder of Selena, etc. to the point where it is going to dominate on Univision and Telemundo for weeks if not months. (The eastern parts of the Houston area around the Ship Channel are dominated by Hispanics and blue-collar Anglos.)

Also, expect some sort of response from Houston and Harris County regarding this tragedy as well (though I am really not going to elaborate until at least after next week because there's a very good chance that Harris County is going to have a new county judge - we already know that in the OG TL Mike Knox is the Mayor of Houston and Alexandra del Moral Mealer is Harris County Judge, and Mealer has a shot IRL to defeat Lina Hidalgo next week) and also responses and commentaries from such dignitaries as Jim "Mattress Mack" McIngvale, Dave Ward, Dr. Peter Hotez and various Astros players (several of whom are Hispanic including Jose Altuve among others) - not to mention a very famous musician and actress with a certain "Beyhive".

News article on Shell's sale of its stake in the Deer Park refinery from the horse's mouth right here.

Plus one on security matters affecting the sale here from Reuters.

So, either that refinery has horrible security to let terrorists on the premises two years in a row, or it isn't terrorism.

@GM Team Member NewYorkExpress, the explosions which occurred on 4/22, were caused by the Ocean Princess exploding, this explosions precipitated more explosions which caused the PEMEX refinery to explode! The bombs were planted by terrorists in the hold of the Belize-flagged container ship. These bombs were triggered  by a GPS Detonator as the ship moved through Houston Ship Channel. The FBI made subsequent arrests of the perps responsible for the explosions. These terrorists are now identified as having connections to North Korea Jihad,  and passed through the southern border in October, 2024. The Biden administration and those officials who were responsible for immigration policy and securing the southern border are going to take a political hit. Question is how big a hit!

On NBC's Meet the Press, Chuck Todd, quizzed Senator Mark Warner (D-VA), the Senate Minority Whip, about Chuck Schumer's hot mic moment, in which Schumer referred to the Border Security Bill, as being racist, and Warner didn't mince his words, "Senator Schumer, has to understand, that the issue of the poor security at the Southern border is no longer a matter of semantics, and he needs to offer an apology to those who have concerns on this matter, we can longer afford not to have a secure southern border, it's now a matter of an existential national security concern and one that the President is trying to address, on this he has my wholehearted support, and I urge my Democratic colleagues to get on board and support something that is a common sense solution"
Meanwhile on ABC's This Week, George Stephanopoulos, asked Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL), the co-author of the Rubio-Sinema Border Security Bill, tried to infer that one of the core foundations of the bill, was racism, Rubio flatly rejected Stephanopoulos's assertion, "I'm sorry George, what you are suggesting to me is, that it's racist to secure our southern border, when it's quite clear, and if you read the language in the bill, makes it clear to anyone with sense, that the bill's primary goal is to ensure that our southern border is secure, and it seems to me, that the left will resort to labelling anything or anyone as racist, they oppose...I think George, your reasons for claiming that this bill as racist, is the same reason that Chuck Schumer calls it racist. It's the big elephant in the room, and no one refers to it, but I will, the reason why the left opposes the bill, because it prevents vote harvesting activities, as well as registering illegal immigrants to vote in our elections, that's the main reason you oppose voter ID laws as well, because such laws would prevent wholesale cheating".
It was notable that Stephanopoulos didn't offer a rebuttal to Rubio's comments.

I wonder what beef Cynthia Lummis has about the bill. I know she endorsed Rand Paul in 2016, but don't tell me she's no different than Liz "Mommy Warbucks" Cheney. Could she be the GOP version of Russ Feingold vis-a-vis the so-called "USA PATRIOT Act"? She definitely has to explain this, especially when dealing with the likes of Sean Hannity or Laura Ingraham. (Tucker Carlson has to have some reservations at least...)

TWO MORE DEMOCRATIC SENATORS JOIN REPUBLICANS TO VOTE FOR THE BORDER SECURITY & PROTECTION ACT OF 2025
Two more Democrats have joined Republicans to support the RUBIO-SINEMA „Border Security & Protection Act of 2025“. Those are Senator Chris Coons (D-Delaware) and Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-Connecticut). Both said that they had reached their conclusions after having talked with their Senate Colleagues Chris Murphy (D-Connecticut) and Ben DuPont (R-Delaware). That brings the Votes to vote for passage to at least 75. Republican Hold-Outs Kevin Cramer (R-North Dakota) and Mike Rounds (R-South Dakota) are to be believed leaning towards a YES Vote as well.

SENATE REPEALS PARTS OF THE 2022 INFLATION REDUCTION ACT THAT WAS PASSED BY THE DEMOCRATIC-LED CONGRESS IN 2022
The Senate today repealed Parts of the „Inflation Reduction Act of 2022“ that was passed under a Democratic Congress in August 2022 primarily the 87,000 IRS Agents. During a News Conference after passage Senate Majority Leader John Cornyn (R-Texas) called it a „Sham Act“ and total overreach by the 117th Congress & the previous Administration. Some of the funds for the IRS Agents will be redirected to fund the Southern Border. Majority Whip John Thune (R-South Dakota) & Senate Conference Chairwoman Joni Ernst (R-Iowa) said that this repeal will help Small Businesses get back onto their feet. The Bill is now headed for the House for Final Passage.

AHEAD OF THE VOTE OF THE BORDER SECURITY & PROTECTION ACT IN THE HOUSE DEMOCRATIC HOUSE MINORITY LEADER HAKEEM JEFFRIES ANNOUNCES SUPPORT OF THE LEGISLATION
The Democratic House Leadership under Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-New York) released a Joint Statement ahead of the scheduled Vote for the „Border Security & Protection Act of 2025“ annoucing their support for the Legislation citing National Security Concerns „We can no longer ignore of what happened on April 22nd in Houston, Texas. Securing our Southern Border is now vitally important given what we know. This is no longer just a Border Security Issue, it's a National Security Issue and the Democratic House Leadership will support whatever the DeSantis' Administration deem appropriate to secure our Homeland and we urge our colleagues to vote for this Legislation“. Having reached out to House Speaker Steve Scalise (R-Louisiana) Jeffries also teased a Major News Conference for tomorrow together with the Republican House Leadership to combat Border & National Security. One Rumor that made the Halls of the US Capitol is that a bipartisan BORDER & NATIONAL SECURITY COMMISSION would be established similarly to the 9/11 Commission. Jeffries also announced the Democratic House Leadership would attend the Rose Garden Ceremony after passage of the Legislation.

CNN BREAKING NEWS
HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES PASSES THE „BORDER SECURITY & PROTECTION ACT OF 2025“ BY A VOTE 350-84 WITH 80 DEMOCRATS VOTING TO ADVANCE THE LEGISLATION WHICH NOW HEADS TO THE SENATE
CNN Chief Congressional Correspondent Manu Raju during the 4pm Hour...
We have some BREAKING NEWS Jake (Tapper): The House of Representatives just took the first formal step enacting President DeSantis' Signature „Border Security & Protection Act“ into law by advancing the Legislation with a 350-84 Vote. Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries' (D-New York) Joint Statement this Morning all but cleared the passage of this bill and it also apparently swayed a lot of Democrats with 80 of them joining Republicans. NBC NEWS SPECIAL REPORT
UNITED STATES SENATE PASSES LANDMARK „BORDER SECURITY & PROTECTION LEGISLATION“ BY A VOTE OF 77-23 WITH 13 DEMOCRATS VOTING FOR THE LEGISLATION CLEARING IT FOR PRESIDENT DESANTIS SIGNATURE TOMORROW

DURING THE 8PM HOUR ON NBC NEWS...
Lester Holt, Anchor NBC Nightly News: It's just after 8pm here on the East Coast. I'm Lester Holt, Anchor of NBC Nightly News and we come to you with this Special NBC NEWS Bulletin that the United States Senate after the House of Representatives this Afternoon has now also passed the most comprehensive Border Security & Protection Legislation in the History of this Country clearing it for Signature by President Ron DeSantis at a Rose Garden Ceremony tomorrow Afternoon. I have Savannah Guthrie, Chuck Todd and Andrea Mitchell with me here. Savannah, first to you. This is momentous!
Savannah Guthrie, Anchor NBC Today Show: I was just thinking about it Lester! Over the last two decades both Parties wrangled and tried Border Security and Immigration Reform but neither couldn't get it done. Tonight is a great first step with this Legislation now having passed to get illegal Immigration & Border Security under control especially after what happened a week ago in Houston, Texas. Still, it's a long way to go before we can actually enact meaningful Immigration Reform.
Chuck Todd, NBC NEWS Political Director & Anchor of Meet The Press: The April 22nd Houston Attack swayed a lot of Democrats Savannah. You don't get all of the sudden 80 House Democrats supporting this Legislation. Unfortunately something had to happen first before they came to their senses. One Democratic Senator, who retired a few years back, told me that he doesn't like this posturing by Senate Minority Leader Schumer (D-New York) at all.
Andrea Mitchell, NBC NEWS Chief Foreign Affairs Correspondent: This Legislation also comes just three weeks ahead of President DeSantis' Visit to Mexico which I presume could make negotiations with the new Mexican President Christina Pardo much easier. It explains why the Administration was so eager to pass it before the Mexico Visit.

Lester Holt, Anchor NBC Nightly News: Let's go to our own Chief White House Correspondent Kristen Welker. Kristen, any reaction from the White House to this Development?
Kristen Welker, NBC News Chief White House Correspondent: Yes, there is Lester. It's just coming in and it's a Joint Statement coming from White House Communications Director CHRISTINA PUSHAW & Communications Director for Vice President Haley MERCEDES SCHLAPP and I'm going read it to you:

„We are incredibly humbled and grateful that tonight after months of hard work the United States Congress has passed the Border Security and Protection Act. It's this Administrations' desire and hope that with this piece of Legislation tragic incidents like on April 22nd in Houston can be prevented in the future and the strain on our border communities can be eased. The President will say more on this tomorrow. Thank You!“

TUESDAY  APRIL 29 2025

WHITE HOUSE ANNOUNCES THAT PRESIDENT WILL BE ON HAND TO SIGN THE BORDER SECURITY AND PROTECTION ACT, ONCE BOTH HOUSES OF CONGRESS VOTED THE BILL INTO LAW  : White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany in her daily press briefing, announced that the President will sign the landmark 2025 Border Security & Protection legislation into law, as soon as congress has voted. Both houses of congress will hold the scheduled vote this afternoon. The bill will be signed into law in a Rose Garden ceremony. House Majority Leader, Jim Banks (R-IND) announced that the Speaker Steve Scalise (R-LA) has scheduled the house vote, which will occur before the Senate vote. It should be noted that this legislation becomes law, as the DeSantis-Haley administration marks it's 100th day in office. The administration's original schedule has been upended by the Yokota and Seoul Missile attacks, and the emergence of North Korea Jihad, the North Korean Conflict and the Houston Terrorist attacks.
White House Chief of Staff, Byron Donalds remarked, "We have been thrown a number of curve balls, none of which could be ignored ...and to this end we had to address numerous crises, each which represented an existential threat"
Office of Senate Minority Leader, Chuck Schumer (D-NY) , has announced that "Senator Schumer will be unable to attend the signing ceremony, due to fundamental differences with the DeSantis administration over the border".
Numerous print and online publications have reached out to Former Vice President, Kamala Harris for a comment on the impending enactment into law of the Border Act, but none were forthcoming.

TAKING STOCK, THE 100 DAYS OF THE DESANTIS ADMINISTRATION.
The president's hopes were ambitious at best, his first presidential message to congress, outlined an ambitious domestic agenda. His decision to make Vice President Nikki Haley, Border Czar has resulted in the passage of a comprehensive piece of legislation, which now allows the administration to secure, what was regarded a porous Southern border. The Vice President's Asian Tour, concluded in the midst of an international crisis, precipitated by a missile attack on Yokota in Japan. This in turn has led to the proposed establishment of a new Pacific Treaty Organization. Congress passed the Yokota Joint Congressional Resolution, which gives the President authorization to order military action in North Korea. So far, a joint U.S.-China operation is underway to neutralize and eliminate North Korea Jihad. With the implementation of the Border Security & Protection Act now underway, the expectation is that with a secure southern border, further terrorist attacks, similar to what occurred on 4/22 in Houston will be prevented. The president is expected to push for passage of a balanced budget administration, the implementation of a federal voter ID law, a federalization of voting laws in Presidential and Congressional elections, the enactment of a new Immigration Law, and the elimination of Woke Ideology in all school curriculums.

HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES ESTABLISHES BIPARTISAN 4/22 COMMISSION TO PROBE BORDER SECURITY BREACHES THAT LED TO THE DEADLY HOUSTON TERRORIST ATTACK
House Speaker STEVE SCALISE (R-Louisiana) and Minority Leader HAKEEM JEFFRIES (D-New York) today announced that the House of Representatives would establish an Independent Bipartisan 4/22 Commission to probe possible Border Security Breaches that led to the horrific & deadly Houston Terrorist Attack. Scalise & Jeffries didn't rule out that the Commission would issue possible supoenas to former Vice President KAMALA HARRIS, former Homeland Secretary ALEJANDRO MAYORKAS as well as several Intelligence Officials working in the Biden Administration but stressed out that for the Members of the Commission to decide which Individuals to subpoena.
Jeffries zipped „The Point is these Individuals who carried out the Houston Attack should have never being led into the Country in the first place. Someone did not do its job properly and we need to find out why. Speaker Scalise and myself, we both agree on that“.
Jeffries also offered a sharp rebuke to Senate Minority Leader CHARLES SCHUMER (D-New York) saying „The Senate Minority Leader should stop playing Games with the National Security of this Country“.

CONGRESSIONAL SOURCES: SENATOR LINDSEY GRAHAM PLANS TO ANNOUNCE HIS RETIREMENT SATURDAY AFTERNOON IN SOUTH CAROLINA
According to a Report by ABC NEWS Congressional Correspondent RACHEL SCOTT Senator LINDSEY GRAHAM (R-South Carolina) plans to announce his Retirement at the end of his current Senate Term on Saturday Afternoon in South Carolina. DURING FOX NEWS AMERICAS NEWSROOM...
During FOX NEWS late Morning Show „AMERICA'S NEWSROOM“ with Bill Hemmer & Dana Perino KellyAnne Conway, Republican Strategist and now a Senior Political Analyst at the Network and Jessica Tarlov, Democratic Strategist sparred over the Border Security and Protection Act that was just passed by Congress. Responding to a Question by Host Bill Hemmer Tarlov had this to say...
Jessica Tarlov, Democatic Strategist „It's very disappointing Bill that only 13 Democratic Senators and 80 House Members supported the Border Security Act. This was certainly a moment where in particular the Democratic Senate Minority Leader could have put whatever concerns he had about the Legislation aside and support it but he choose not to. To be quite frank I can't find any rassistic language in this bill, I voiced that to KellyAnne. I think House Minority Leader Jeffries & the Democratic House Leadership did the right thing supporting the Legislation. Also the Establishment of the bipartisan Independent 4/22 Commission shows Leadeship both by Speaker Scalise and Minority Leader Jeffries. I think Senate Minority Leader Schumers Hot-Mic Moment will hurt Democrats going forward as National Security will become a huge issue during this years Elections in Virginia & New Jersey and going forward heading into the Midterms next year. If we don't perform well this year and next year maybe for the good of my Party Schumer should step aside.“
KellyAnne Conway, Republican Strategist „I agree, the Border Security Act should have passed with a similar Mandate like the Yokota Resolution. The wounds from the Houston Attack that happened 8 Days ago are still fresh so you would have assumed more support so I can understand Jessica's Disappointment. That being said Bill & Dana Minority Leader Schumer has not spoken once with Majority Leader Cornyn since the Passage of the Yokota Resolution. Frankly, I don't know what's between the White House, President DeSantis, VP Haley and Schumer but I am sure we will find out at some point in the future.
The Administrations' Messaging has been very effective and Vice President NIKKI HALEY is probably the most effective VP since George H. W. Bush, when he was VP under President Ronald Reagan. She gets straight back to work as alluded to by announcing these Town Halls next month. You got to sell what you just passed. I wish Mike Pence would have been this effective [ALL 4 BREAK OUT IN LAUGHTER]. DESANTIS-HALEY accomplished more in 100 Days when it comes to our Southern Border than BIDEN-HARRIS did in four years. Let that sink in!“

NON-TIMELINE UPDATE
Yesterday Night Rep. Donald McEachin (D-VA 4) devastatingly passed after losing his longtime battle with cancer. I had McEachin vying for the Democratic Gubernatorial Nomination against Rep. Jennifer Wexton (D-VA 10) to take on Governor Winsome Sears (R-Virginia) in 2025. Since that will no longer be possible and the Filling Deadline for the Virginia Primaries has already passed Wexton will be running unopposed in the June Primary and I will schedule a Special Election for the now vacated House Seat presumably on the same Day the Virginia General Election is occuring. May Donald McEachin rest in peace and condolences to all who were close to him.

Yes, and prayers be with the McEachins in these darkest of times.

I'm guessing the early money on State Sen. Jennifer McClellan, but there are some who say the late Congressman's widow, Richmond Commonwealth Attorney Colette McEachin, is the lone true successor to her husband. There's even some who say another State Sen., Joe Morrissey, is the one, but he is an oddball on the level of the infamous Edwin "Crook" Edwards, and for reasons beyond the impropriety allegations with the Millennial woman he eventually married.

As for Leon Benjamin, he might have pockets of strength around the western Hampton Roads area and in both Southside Virginia and Richmond's West End, but other than that he's a heavy underdog who will get slaughtered everywhere else in the district, even with the Glenn Youngkin endorsement. But if the Blexit crowd wanted to have a golden opportunity to surprise people, this would be an early test of that.

On an unrelated note, this is going to be a heavily retconned TL now given that Trump is in, Biden is in, and several of the Rs who won in the beginning of the OG TL are not in their positions. I was right on Katie Hobbs and John Fetterman for the Democrats and Anthony D'Esposito for the GOP, but Christine Drazan and Doug Mastriano aren't there (though the latter's eye-popping loss was definitely of his own doing, even taking away the childish denialism about 2020 - name one Republican who thinks avoiding the mainstream media for interviews is a "winning" strategy!).

Yeah, your predictions that Dixon and Mastriano would win was perhaps the largest miss.

AHEAD OF PRESIDENT DESANTIS VISIT TO PIEDRAS NEGRAS, MEXICO LATER THIS MONTH FOLLOWING THE PASSAGE OF THE BORDER SECURITY BILL BY THE US CONGRESS MEXICAN PRESIDENT CHRISTINA PARDO ISSUED THE FOLLOWING STATEMENT...

„In the immediate aftermath of the deadly Houston Terrorist Attack I offered my condolences & support to President DeSantis, the entire Country of the United States of America and Texas Governor Greg Abbott. It is very disturbing that the people who carried out the attack made their way into the United States via Mexico. I applaud the U. S. Congress by taking swift action by passing the Border Security and Protection Act which will hopefully prevent future incursions. It's my desire to address these concerns further when President DeSantis visits Mexico later this month. Border Security & National Security concerns Mexico as well.
Mexican-US Relations have been strained over the last four to eight years and it is my hope that President DeSantis and myself can restrengthen those. Thank You!“

WHITE HOUSE PRESS BRIEFING MAY 1 2025

WHITE HOUSE PRESS SECRETARY
KAYLEIGH MCENANY

Author: Joyce N. Boghosian
KAYLEIGH MCENANY: Welcome to todays White House Press Briefing! I'll get a few Points across and then I will answer some Questions. As already being reported the President today signed the „SMALL BUSINESS ENHANCEMENT & REINVESTMENT ACT“ into Law providing much needed relief for the Small Business Community in this Country which we believe is still the backbone of our Economy. These Communities were living under the burden of the Biden Administrations draconian Regulations including the 87,000 IRS Agents and they deserve better. Between 5PM ET and 6PM ET Secretary of Defense KENNETH BRAITHWAITE will give another Update on the Situation in North Korea. Finally next week the President will make some Appointments & Nominations in Relation to the Administrations Ecucation & Economic Policies.
I'll now answer some Questions. Nancy, yes please!

Nancy Cordes, CBS NEWS Chief White House Correspondent: Kayleigh, can you elaborate about the Town Halls the Vice President will be holding later this month in various States around the Country. What is this all about?
KAYLEIGH MCENANY: One thing I can tell you Nancy, it is not a Campaign Trail. As alluded by the VP's CoS STEPHANIE GRISHAM it's the way how we cummunicate to the American People. They have the right to know how the Border Security Legislation will be implemented and VP HALEY will outline that during these Townhalls and will also talk further steps this Administration will take towards reforming our Nations Immigration System. As you and many people in this Room may have already figured out we have been one of the most transparent Presidential Administrations in its First 100 Days in a long time despite suffering a lot of hardships and curveballs.
Next Question. Yes, Cecilia please!

Cecilia Vega, CNN Chief White House Correspondent: Kayleigh, what do you make of the Statement issued by Mexican President Christina Pardo this morning?
KAYLEIGH MCENANY: Well, I can tell you this Cecilia that President Pardo and President DeSantis are very much on the same Page. The President can't wait to travel to Mexico later this month as he was locked in the Country for the past 100 Days which is unusual in itself but given the Challenges we faced was reasonable I think. President Pardo understands that Border Security & National Security are as important to Mexico as they are to the United States.
Next Question. Yes, Kirsten please!

Kristen Welker, NBC NEWS Chief White House Correspondent: To follow up on that. President Pardo said that Mexican-US Relations have been strained over the past four to eight years. What do you think she meant by that?
KAYLEIGH MCENANY: I'm saying this in hindsight Kirsten that former President Trumps Phrase „We will built a wall and Mexico will pay for it“ probably wasn't the smartest of ideas but neither was having a completely open border with bascially zero restrictions. That's why the Meeting is very important to restrengthen those Relations.
Anymore Questions? No? I'll see tomorrow then and you all have a nice Afternoon!

EVENING NEWS SHOWS + PENTAGON BRIEFING
Political Commentators across the Early Evening Cable News Shows on both sides of the aisle noticed that the DESANTIS' ADMINISTRATION Press & Communications Team took a far less confrontational tone during the first 100 Days of this Administration compared when President DeSantis was Governor of Florida or when Press Secretary MCENANY briefed the Press during COVID-19 during the Spring & Summer of 2020.
CNN Political Commentator Scott Jennings said during Jake Tappers THE LEAD: They have taken a very different approach. The Press Secretary refused to go after the Senate Minority when it comes to opposing the Border Bill. They seem to have taken the approach that they led the American People judge and decide these things. I have to say though that History won't be very kind to Senate Minority Leader Schumer (D-New York) of what he did in the last couple of Days.

During the Daily Pentagon Briefing Secretary of Defense KENNETH BRAITHWAITE confirmed that South Korean & US Forces have taken control of the DMZ given that North Korea has literally no Government at the moment. North Korea Jihad has done Two Circles aroung Pyongyang which neither the Chinese nor US Forces have been able to penetrate. To complicate things the North Korea Jihad has control of the biggest Nuclear Power Plant in the Country and they have threatened to blow that up which could cause a Humanitarian Catastrophe three times bigger than Chernobyl. Braithwaite said that there will soon be Phase 2, a large scaled Air-Attarck Millitary Offensive by Chinese, US, Japan and South Korean Air Force to incapitate front line positions by the North Korea Jihad around the North Korean Capital to make the way for Ground Forces.

HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES PASSES BILL CREATING BIPARTISAN APRIL 22ND COMMISSION; SENDS BILL TO THE SENATE
The United States House of Representatives today passed a bipartisan bill by a Vote of 402-31 with two Abstentions (UT-2 and VA-4 are Vacant) creating the talked about 4/22 Commission to investigate what happened on that fateful Day in Houston, Texas. Standing in front of the National Press inside the Capitol after the passage House Speaker STEVE SCALISE (R-LOUISIANA) and Democratic Minority Leader HAKEEM JEFFRIES (D-NEW YORK) reiterated what they said a couple of Days ago that the American People deserve answers of what happened in the lead up to April 22nd.
Some Progressive House Democrats did not vote for the bill citing it as a ploy to investigate the Biden Administration.

During ABC's World News tonight with DAVID MUIR ABC Contributor Maria Elena Salinas, who travelled across the Country particularly in States that had a Border to Mexico, had a sit down with the Anchor discussing the recently passed Border Security & Protection Act and offered clues to the Hispanic Community living in Border Towns.
Salinas said Residents were very appreciative to the DESANTIS-HALEY Admistration for trying to secure the southern border to Mexico. Voters in Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and California were telling her „Ending Title 42 was the worst thing that happened to our Border Communities and Towns, a full disaster. We welcome Migrants but that has to be done in an orderly manner and not them swarming our communities“.
Salinas called the Meeting between President RON DESANTIS & Mexican President CHRISTINA PARDO a very important one which could yield a breakthrough. She also called the recently announced Town Halls by the Vice President a Great Idea to hear directly from Residents.
Salinas also offered a warning to Democrats as the once core voting group for the Party is changing and can no longer be assumed voting that way. We've seen a Hispanic realignment in 2024. Whether that will last is too soon to tell but if the Administration manages to get an Immigration Reform Bill passed next year with a pathway to citizenship we could see more Hispanics gravitating towards Republicans.

DURING FOX NEWS SPECIAL REPORT...

During FOX NEWS SPECIAL REPORT with Anchor BRET BAIR Senate Majority Leader JOHN CORNYN (R-TEXAS) vowed to put the bipartisan bill creating a 4/22 Commission that passed the House overwhelmingly today for a Vote on Monday and urged Senate Minority Leader CHARLES SCHUMER (D-NEW YORK) to support it although Schumers Office already said that he would vote against it saying quote Republicans have been investigating the Biden Administration for the last two years and I will not allow that to continue“.
Cornyn for his part said „It is complete malpractice Bret! We have a totally new situation with the Houston Attack that occured a couple of weeks ago. Americans deserve answers of what happened in the lead up to that Event and we will provide that. Once again the Minority Leader is putting his own interests over the Country just like he did with the Border Security and Protection Act“.

If Republicans win both the Governor's and Lieutenant Governor's contest in California, especially other statewide contests, then it's conceivable that both Alex Padilla in 2028, plus Kamala Harris or Xavier Becerra in 2026 could lose their respective bids to hold or win any contests.

On a sunny early spring Day in Charleston, South Carolina Senator LINDSEY GRAHAM (R-SOUTH CAROLINA) surrounded by his family & friends made his Retirement official announcing that he would not be a Candidate for the Senate during the upcoming 2026 Midterm Elections. Graham thanked the people of South Carolina for placing their trust in him first as a Congressman and then as a Senator. Graham was elected to the United States House of Representatives in South Carolinas' 3rd Congressional District during the 1994 Republican Revolution until 2002 before running for the United States Senate to replacing retiring Senator Storm Thurmond during the 2002 Midterm Elections. Graham subsequently won Re-Election in 2008, 2014 and 2020.
Speaking to a local TV Affiliate in Charleston after his Announcement Graham commented about who might replace him saying „Congresswoman NANCY MACE (R-SC 1) would obviously a strong Candidate for his Seat“.

Later in the Day the Office of Representative NANCY MACE released the following Statement:

„Today is Senator Lindsey Grahams Day. Senator Graham has worked diligently and tirelessly for the people of South Carolina for the last thirty years and South Carolinas owe him a major depth of gratitude. Congresswoman Mace will be making a Statement about her Political Future in due course.“

Grahams Retirement marked the first for Republicans in the 2026 Midterm Election Cycle.

MEANWHILE THE SPOKESPERSON FOR THE NATIONAL DEMOCRATIC SENATORIAL CAMPAIGN COMMITTEE WEIGHED IN...
„Senator Grahams Retirement showed us one thing. He was afraid to run again knowing he would lose to former DNC Chair JAMIE HARRISON (D-SOUTH CAROLINA). The DSCC will make South Carolina one of their targets in the upcoming 2026 Elections.“

Graham beat Harrison during the 2020 Pandemic Election by roughly 10 Percentage Points.

Utah Governor SPENCER COX (R-UTAH) and Virginia Governor WINSOME SEARS (R-VIRGINIA) have scheduled Special Elections for two VACANT HOUSE SEATS with both General Elections taking place on November 4th, the same Day as the New Jersey & Virginia Gubernatorial Elections. The Candidates for Special Election in Virginias' 4th Congressional District caused by the death of former Congressman Donald McEachin will be held via Party Conventions while the Primaries for Utahs' 2nd Congressional District formerly held by Congressman Chris Stewart who became the Director of National Intelligence in the DeSantis' Administration will be held on August 26th 2025.
Delegate Jennifer McClellan and Pastor Leon Benjamin seem to be the Favorites to be chosen for Virginias' 4th District.

VIRGINIA CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT
The Group backed by Democrats, Republicans and Independents to allow the Virginia Governor to serve two terms have summitted their Signatures to the Virginia State Board of Elections. The Virginia State Board is expected to announce if that Amendment has met the required Signatures after the Virginia Primary in early June. A Poll conducted by NBC NEWS & Mason-Dixon last month showed that the Amendment would be favored to pass if on the Ballot this November.

SHORTLY AFTER 8PM ET ON FOX NEWS...

Then California Senator
KAMALA HARRIS

FORMER VICE PRESIDENT KAMALA D. HARRIS (D-CALIFORNIA) ANNOUNCES SHE WILL NOT RUN FOR GOVERNOR IN 2026
During his Own Show „ONE NATION“ Host Brian Kilmaede announced the News shortly after 8pm ET/5pm PT that former Vice President & California Senator Kamala D. Harris (D-California) had decided to forgo a bid for California Governor in 2026.
That was confirmed by Harris minutes later on her own Twitter Account.
The News dealt a Major Blow to California Democrats retaining the California Governorship next year as Harris was seen as the strongest possible Democratic Candidate amid Governor Gavin Newsoms low Approval Ratings (A Poll by the LA Times in early March had Newsoms Job Approval in the low 30ties).
People familar with the former Vice Presidents thinking though said the reason for Harris not running could be the new 4/22 Commission which is all but certain to be approved by the Republican-controlled Senate on Monday and the former VP could face new investigations for her handling the southern border during the Biden Administration as the Terrorists who carried out the April 22nd Attack likely gained Entry into the Country during that time and she didn't want these possible investigations to be a distraction.
Thus far California Lieutenant Governor Eleni Kounalakis (D-California) and former California Attorney General & Health & Human Services Secretary under President Biden Xavier Becerra (D-California) have entered the Race to face the right to challenge Presumptive Republican Nominee YOUNG OAK KIM (R-CALIFORNIA). Kim has raised almost 20M $ since announcing her Governor Campaign in early March and is back by President DESANTIS and Vice President HALEY.

During the May 4 2025 Sunday Shows the First 100 Days of the DESANTIS-HALEY ADMINISTRATION were dissected with most Political Analysts giving the Administration either an A+, A, B+ or B which are considered very good for an incoming Administration. Wisconsin Senator MIKE GALLAGHER voiced concerns on the Administratios Approach to China during his Interview with Margaret Brennan on „FACE THE NATION“ claiming that he is well aware that the collaboration between President DeSantis and President Xi to wipe out North Korea Jihad but is unsure where the US will go from there once the Mission is accomplished. The President has to draw a Line somewhere.

During „STATE OF THE UNION“ with Jake Tapper Chief White House Correspondent Cecilia Vega, who covered both the Trump and Biden White House, remarked that President RON DESANTIS has faced the most Challenges during the First 100 Days ever dealing with the North Korea Crisis and then a Terrorist Attack here at home and White House Aides now feel vindicated DeSantis picked NIKKI HALEY back last year given all the curveballs that were thrown at them from a Foreign Policy Standpoint.
Vega also briefly weighed in on the HARRIS ANNOUNCEMENT from last Night saying „Look Jake, this was all about the impending 4/22 Commission that will be ratified by the Senate tomorrow and if currently intelligence is correct that these Terrorists entered the Country in October the former Vice President will be subpoenaed as well as other former Biden Administration Officials. Looks like Mrs Harris was more concerned about her Election then securing the border“.
Vega also said the Administration would be moving Full Speed ahead with Education, a possible Infrastructure Bill, the Balanced Budget and Voter ID/Voting Rights and called the Border Security & Protection Act, although it's only the first step in reforming the Nations Immigration System a big victory for the Administration.
Congressional Correspondent Manu Raju also remarked that the President now has a Bipartisan Working Majority he can work with citing the 11 Democrats who joined Republicans on the Border Measure.

MONDAY MAY 5, 2025/
With the decision announced by Former Vice President Kamala Harris , there's speculation mounting within the Harris orbit, that the former Vice President, might in fact be holding her powder dry and might be weighing a potential rematch against President DeSantis , in 2028, a source close to the former Vice President has indicated that the "...endless speculation surrounding Kamala Harris ....political plans, was just frivolous and the Vice President had decided to make an announcement once and for all...". The source added that Harris would make an announcement on a possible national run.
