Friday March 7 2025
ECONOMY ADDS 750,000 JOBS IN THE MONTH OF FEBRUARY
According to a new Report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics the US Economy added 750,000 Private Sector Jobs in the Month of February. This is primarily in large Part of President DeSantis Executive Orders easing all Pandemic Restrictions which he signed on his 1st Day in Office as President. The Unemployment Rate, which has been largely ticking up during the Final Months of the Biden Presidency ticked down to 4.8 %. It had been over 5 % for the last 12 Months due to former President Biden failed Economic Policies. It's certainly good News for President DeSantis as he heads to California to attend the 2025 Winter Meeting of the Republican Governors Association.

CORNYN TEES UP SENATE VOTE FOR HENRY BONILLA, THE PRESIDENTS PICK TO BE AMBASSADOR TO MEXICO FOR MONDAY MARCH 10.
Senate Majority Leader John Cornyn (R-Texas) announced that the Vote to confirm President DeSantis' Pick, Former Rep. Henry Bonilla, to be Ambassador to Mexico will be held Monday.

JUST IN: RGA SELECTS OREGON GOVERNOR CHRISTINE DRAZAN CHAIRWOMAN OF THE REPUBLICAN GOVERNORS ASSOCIATION, NORTH CAROLINA GOVERNOR MARK ROBINSON VICE CHAIRMAN OF THE REPUBLICAN GOVERNORS ASSOCIATION FOR 2025
JIM SCIUTTO: This is just coming to us here at CNN. The Republican Governors Association, who will hold their Annual Winter Meeting this weekend in Los Angeles has selected Oregon Governor Christine Drazan as Chairwoman and North Carolina Governor Mark Robinson as Vice Chairman for this year. Certainly some interesting choices here, again very diverse Leaders. That though has been a common theme for Republicans since then Candidate Ron DeSantis took over the Republican Party. Drazan beat out Robinson and former White House Press Secretary & current Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee-Sanders. The RGA will likely make a Major play for New Jersey this fall to turn that State Red after coming within a nose in 2021.

The Final Day in Los Angeles now looks like this:

FINAL DAY AT RGA (MARCH 9)

  • Speakers: Governor Brian Kemp (Georgia), Governor Sarah Huckabee-Sanders, Governor Chris Miller (West Virginia), Governor Greg Abbott (Texas), Governor Henry McMaster (South Carolina), Governor Tudor Dixon (Michigan), Governor Tim Michels (Wisconsin), Governor Joe Lombardo (Nevada), Governor Winsome Sears (Virginia), Governor Jeanette Nuñez (R-Florida)
  • FLOTUS OF THE UNITED STATES Casey DeSantis
  • POTUS OF THE UNITED STATES Ron DeSantis
  • Rep. Young Kim, Candidate for California Governor, Mike Garcia, Candidate for Lieutenant Governor
  • RGA VICE CHAIRMAN, Governor Mark Robinson of North Carolina
  • RGA CHAIRWOMAN, Governor Christine Drazan of Oregon
  • TOWN HALL MEETING WITH PRESIDENT DESANTIS to be broadcasted by NBC NEWS, UNIVISION and FOX NEWS

SUNDAY, MARCH 9 2025: BREAKING STORY,  PRESIDENT DESANTIS DURING HIS SPEECH TO RGA, GAVE HIS ENDORSEMENT OF CONGRESSWOMAN YOUNG KIM,  FOR GOVERNOR OF CALIFORNIA AND CONGRESSMAN MICHAEL GARCIA, FOR LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR OF CALIFORNIA: With the endorsement of Congresswoman Young Kim for Governor of California and Congressman Michael Garcia for Lieutenant Governor of California set in stone and with Democrats still uncertain who they will have as their standard bearer for the top job in the Golden state. The only Democrat to have so far declared, is former Biden Health  and Human Services Secretary, Xavier Becerra, and with the plans of former Vice President Kamala Harris , still remaining in flux; many political commentators familiar with California politics, state that Kim "..will enjoy a huge advantage in terms of fundraising and institutional support from within the establishment, and unlike in previous years, Democrats may face strong headwinds, when you factor in the Border and Immigration issues; you can expect that Republican's will exploit that vulnerability, plus the apparent unpopularity of outgoing Governor Gavin Newsom is not helping either.
The president's speech to the association is expected  to focus on the twin priorities of his presidency over the next eighteen months, Balanced budget amendment, Border Security and immigration.

Looking very good so far. Prayers be with our friends in Florida and Cuba facing the wrath of Hurricane Ian and its aftermath.

Will be watching Gov. DeSantis very closely and for sure his handling of Ian is going to be looked at with a YUGE microscope. So far, he's handling the matter very well with authoritative leadership. There for sure will be deaths and despair, but there will also be hope and hospitality in the coming days and weeks. Will be epic to see Sunny Hostin's quip about DeSantis being "President-in-waiting" become a motivating rock for DeSantis. As in "Take that, View ladies!"...

Meet The Press, Intro.
Now here's your host Chuck Todd, welcome all.
Our show today is coming from the iconic Pauley Pavillion, the site of the Republican Governor's Association meeting and which will be the host of the town-hall meeting, in which the president will field questions from an assortment of voters.
We have a great roundtable line-up in Robert Shrum, a veteran of many political campaigns, both state and national.

Ryan Skinnel, who authored "Faking the News: What Rhetoric Can Teach Us About Donald J. Trump"

Melinda Jackson, who is an expert on polling and the importance of silicon valley in U.S. politics.
and least of all our very own Sherry Bebitch Jeffe, NBC political analyst and Senior Fellow at the Sol Price of Public Policy.

Also joining today's program, will be Lynette Romero, who will be one of the three anchors at tonight's town-hall.

Chuck Todd: Good morning to yet another edition of Meet The Press, we have a lot to cover, but first with me for an exclusive one-on-one interview, is Governor Christine Drazan of Oregon, who this weekend was elected Chairwoman of the Republican Governor's Association. Many would agree, that Christine Drazan's election as Governor of her state over two year's ago, foreshadowed what would occur in the state last November, when the President became the first Republican since Ronald Reagan to carry the state in forty years and here we are, Governor, thanks for appearing on the show.

Drazan: Good to be here Chuck.
Todd: How would you rate this  Governor's meeting?
Drazan: We had a productive three day's Chuck, and  the issues that needed to be addressed were aired.
Todd: And what were those issues Governor?
Drazan: Discussions focused on how the nation's economy has rebounded, also the issue of the southern border was also on the agenda.
Todd: Let's talk about the southern border, Governor, many in the Democratic party are accusing the DeSantis administration of engaging in sensationalism and politicizing the problems, your response?
Drazan: I wouldn't accept that argument Chuck, there is a serious migrant pandemic, which my Democratic friends persist in dismissing its seriousness and nature, what has to be termed a crisis, and one which is worsening by the day. We need solutions, plain and simple. That is why the Vice President travelled to the border last week to investigate the situation.
Todd: Is there a possibility that we have a problem at the border, one to which the administration is overreacting?
Drazan: All I know Chuck, is that the border situation has been neglected for the longest time, this neglect intensified during the entirety of the Biden administration, even the "catch and release" policy was discontinued.
Todd: What recommendations do you expect the Vice President will include in her report?
Drazan: I am sure they will be many and comprehensive, but I'm not going to preempt those recommendations. One other thing, Chuck, the Vice President was accompanied by four Democrat Senator's and they've  likely reached the same conclusions the Vice President reached.
Todd: When do you expect the Vice President's findings and accompanying report to be released?
Drazan: Chuck, I'm not going to engage in any kind of speculation on such a question.
Todd: Onto another issue, and it relates to the Balanced budget amendment proposal that the administration is advocating, many economists, including Robert Bixby of the Concord Coalition, warn that such an idea, is tantamount to placing a "straight jacket" on future economic flexibility, what would be your response to that argument be?
Drazan: I think the view that  Mr. Bixby has taken is pessimistic, but perhaps the language used in such an amendment would allow for flexibility and adjustment. The important thing is that most state's in the union have Balanced budget provisions, but trying to implement such an amendment, is better than not trying anything.
Todd: That last statement, suggests that any attempt made to enact such an amendment will not succeed.
Drazan: I disagree Chuck, there will be various versions of a proposed amendment, there's a process involved.
Todd: Onto matters concerning your new position, what are your expectations during your tenure as Chairwoman of the RGA?
Drazan: We hope to win support for a Balanced budget amendment, then there's the Governor's races in New Jersey and Virginia, where we expect Republican's to win both state's.
Todd: Both state's? Governor a history lesson, the last time the party holding the White House, won both state's,  was in 1969, when Richard Nixon held the Presidency, that waa fifty-six years ago!
Drazan: Well it will likely happen again this year.
Todd: There's a constitutional amendment likely to be on the ballot in Virginia, one in which Governor's would be allowed to seek a second term, do you believe Virginia voters will support such an amendment?
Drazan: I do Chuck, look, every state in the union allows second terms for their Chief executive, every state except Virginia, also with Winsome Sears at the helm in Richmond, I think the commonwealth has a great replacement to Glenn Youngkin in Winsome Sears , also having gotten to know her, I think her agenda fits in with what the people of Virginia wants.
Todd: Thank you Governor for appearing on the show.
Drazan: It was a pleasure Chuck.
Todd: For our roundtable guest line-up, we have today with us Robert Shrum, Ryan Skinnel, Melinda Jackson, Sherry Bebitch Jeffe and Lynette Romero, welcome all.
I would like to replay a clip regarding Governor's Drazan's response on the Balanced Budget amendment, and get your response Ryan Skinnel
(Clip Plays)
Todd: Your thoughts Dr. Skinnel.
Skinnel: First of all, the Governor has good reason to be guarded on the question, and it perhaps has to do with how the balanced budget amendment will be framed, and it really is up to  the administration on the direction of that conversion.
Todd: Meaning?
Skinnel: Meaning it depends on the language in such an amendment, on whether it passes or not, and unless the language can carry the amendment, otherwise very few states are going to support such an amendment, if there's a possibility it infringes on their interests on the revenue side. In the final analysis, there will need to be a robust conversation before you see a bandwagon effect for it's passage, whatever form that might take.
Todd: Many observers, have state, that if the President can expect passage of the amendment, it's not going to be in the immediate term, as that is overly ambitious. Melinda Jackson, you know about public opinion and how could be swayed, what would be your prognosis on the timeline of passage?
Jackson: In the immediate term, that is highly optimistic by any count, if there's any expectation of the passage of the ammendment, probably within the two years at worst, and in the early stages of a second term. Also we have to recognize, that this president will see passage, as one of his signature achievements.
Todd: Speaking of bandwagon effect, the news which is coming out, is that the President intends to offer an early endorsement of Congresswoman Young Kim for Governor and another house member, Michael Garcia will be endorsed for Lieutenant Governor, what does this mean for the contest Sherry Bebitch Jeffe?
Jeffe: One thing it does, Chuck, it prevents a free for-all in a Republican primary and solidifies party support for Kim .
Todd: Bob Shrum, I see the wheels turning and the veteran within has some thoughts.
Shrum: Indeed they do, Chuck, one thing the DeSantis endorsement is likely to do, is to allow Kim have a head-start on the fund-raising end of things, and unfortunately for any Democrat , whether it is Xavier Becerra or even Kamala Harris, whether she decides to jump in or not, they will have their work cut out, especially when we see how badly Gavin Newsom is polling.
Todd: Do you think Harris will run? Anybody?
Shrum: Not Sure
Jeffe: Yes, I think she will
Skinnel: No
Jackson: It's 50/50
Shrum: One thing I want to add, there will enormous pressure brought to bear for Harris , to make a decision soon.
Todd: Well thank you all, for being on our program.
Earlier on I sat down and had a conversation, with Lynette Romero, who will be co-anchoring the town-hall meeting later on, here.
Tape of interview with Lynette Romero
Todd: Good to speak with you Lynette, what do you expect from tonight's event?
Romero: Thanks Chuck, If I'm a viewer, watch for the type of questions, the president get's to field, it will inform us, what voter's out here are thinking about.
Todd: I spoke with Sherry Bebitch Jeffe, about the southern border issue, and she say's, that in polling it is growing in it's efficacy and could become the dominant issue, do you expect that border security and the migrant crisis to dominate the town-hall meeting?
Romero: There is a good chance it will, and for better or worse. Condemn or praise him, the president instinctively seized onto the issue and it has steadily gained traction, and it is one which is negatively impacting Democrats , their response so far is not helping them politically.
Todd : Will there be a high viewership?
Romero: Estimates reckon there will be between 100 to 150 million viewers, which should be good, because if the people are engaged, it impacts on the issues which concerns.
Todd: Thank you, Lynette and good luck tonight.
That was Lynette Romero, and she along with Enrique Acevedo of Unavision and Jessica Tarlov will co-anchor the Town-hall meeting at 9:00 EST tonight, thank you for watching and remember 'If it's sunday it's meet the press'
(Signature closing music for MTP and Credits)

I like Drazan's Optimism. Yes, New Jersey hasn't voted for the Party occupying the White House for a long time but the State also has the highest Corporate Tax Rate in the entire Country which almost cost Governor Phil Murphy his Race in 2021. Taxes in the Garden State will be a very big issue in the fall!

As far as California and Harris is concerned: She will have a tough time if she runs. She might still win given it's a big Blue State most of the time but Young Kim already labelled Newsom, Harris, Pelosi, former Senator Feinstein, etc. as „SAN FRANCISCO CARTEL“ who is trying to run & control California.

@2016,  yes there is optimism, but it's probably tailored for voter's in New Jersey and Virginia , given as you said the Garden state has the highest corporate tax rate, so its probably not misplaced given those circumstances, as for Virginia,  the Democrats are gonna be hard pressed to find an issue against Sears,  the old maxim, "If ain't broke, don't fix it!" might apply here as well, also Democrats start directing "Uncle Tom" taunts at Sears , its gonna offend their key constituent group! Surely they're not that dumb! So Virginia is a lock for the Republican's, as for New Jersey,  it will be competitive no doubt, but winnable. As for California  , I think you might be onto something with Kim's , "San Francisco Cartel" jibe directed at Harris, Newsom & Pelosi, its not gonna help the former Vice President if she decides to run! Also if the Border Security Crisis issue begins to gain traction, Harris is gonna have a hard time explaining herself on that issue; also a potential Harris-Kim contest might result in a modern day version of what occurred in the Golden state between  Pat Brown and Richard Nixon in 1962, and Harris as was the case with Nixon , also a former Vice President, loses the Governor's race. It will be interesting to see how it pans out.

I don't think Virginia is a lock. Democrats have two credible Candidates in Rep. Jennifer Wexton & Rep. Donald McEachin. Youngkin managed to win in 2021 because McAuliffe underperformed in Loudoun, Fairfax and Prince William Counties. Wexton's District is in Loudoun and Parts of Fairfax so if she ends up being the Nominee she is likely going to overperform there which makes the Race Statewide very close. And if McEachin wins he overperforms in the suburbs around Richmond and Norfolk given the African American Communities.

I can't wait for the 60-Minutes Interview with Harris. Hopefully the Moderator, whoever that is, doesn't ask these Softball Questions.

And of course I am looking forward to the Town Hall with DeSantis as well.

@2016, on the Virginia contest, I beg to differ, but while either Wexton and McEachin may perform better than McAuliffe did in 2021, however there's a distinct possibility that Sears could perform equally as well as DeSantis on the presidential level and Youngkin did at the Gubernatorial level, but apart from that Sears could make inroads within the African-American community, and if Democrats can assume that they will get that vote, because they happen to have a D after there name, they better up their game. As for the Harris interview on 60 minutes, remember this is CBS, and the same guy, John Dickerson is the usual host for that show and considering the rough way he treated Ted Cruz,  take a wild-guess on the nature of the questions! As for the DeSantis town-hall, I'm going to go with the highlights  on the meeting; I will post each of them in a few hour's from now. It's likely the town-hall meeting will beat the 60 minutes in the ratings.

Sunday March 9 2025
ABC THIS WEEK WITH GEORGE STEPHANOPOULOS & CHRIS CHRISTIE...
Given that the RGA was held in California the States Politics was discussed at length at this particular Sunday Show as well. ABC's Political Director Rick Klein pulled up some interesting California Approvals from the past:
ABC NEWS CALIFONIA RECALL 2003 EXIT POLL
GOVERNOR GRAY DAVIS 27 % Job Approval

ABC NEWS CALIFONIA EXIT POLL 2010
GOVERNOR ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER 32 % Job Approval

LA TIMES/BERKELEY INSTITUTE POLL RELEASED FEBRUARY 2025
GOVERNOR GAVIN NEWSOM 32 % Job Approval

RICK KLEIN: I am not saying Republicans will win next year in California but these Numbers are bad George and if you compare Newsom's Numbers with those from former Governors Davis & Schwarzenegger someone like Young Kim might have a shot at it.

GEORGE STEPHANOPOULOS: Matthew Dowd, why do you think President DeSantis is making such a push for Border Security?

MATTHEW DOWD: First of all George the Border Situation is really, really bad. I mean you saw some of the Images when the Vice President was down there. It wasn't pretty. Secondly DeSantis owes those Voters.

CHRIS CHRISTIE: He is right George. If you look at the 2020 Exit Polls in Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico & Colorado DeSantis posted even better Numbers George W. Bush did in these Individual States in 2004. Remember DeSantis narrowly won a plurality of the Hispanic Vote over Kamala Harris in 2024, 48-45 Nationally to be precise.

GEORGE STEPHANOPOULOS: Matthew Dowd, I know President Bush badly wanted to reform the Countries Immigration System. Why did you fail then and why do you think DeSantis might pass something?

MATTHEW DOWD: Simple Answer George, we did not have the Majorities President DeSantis is having right now. I mean it's a dream for him. And let me tell you something George: If Democrats are continue with their posturing on this particularly the Minority Leader they going to face a reckoning in 2026. I wouldn't be surprised if some of the Senators we saw this week down at the border are already crafting a Border Security Bill. I think a Border Bill will come 1st and Immigration Reform some time next year once the border strain is somewhat eased.

GEORGE STEPHANOPOULOS: Thank You all for this lively Discussion. We will see you next weekend!

SUNDAY MARCH 9 2025, Hi this is John Dickerson and welcome to tonight's show.
It has been over four months since America went to the polls, to elect our 47th President, and the runner-up, the former Vice President, Kamala Harris , now sits across from me, for this exclusive interview.

Dickerson: Madam Vice President, how have you found adjusting to private life?
Harris : Hi John, good to be here, well John it has been surprisingly a lot easier than I expected, I find my schedule is a lot more flexible and also Doug and I have, had an opportunity to reconnect with our family, so I'd say it has been all good.
Dickerson: You're now involved in writing a book, could you tell us what will it be about?
Harris : Actually John, it's an autobiography.
Dickerson : Glad we could get straightened up.
Harris : (Nervous laughter), Yes indeed, well John as I said before, the book is an autobiography and deals with my time in the political arena, mostly from the time I served as District Attorney, through my time as Attorney General, Senator and finally Vice President.
Dickerson : So during your time as Vice President, how was your relationship with former President Joe Biden ?
Harris : We had a good working relationship and it was a partnership, similar to the one, which he had with Barack Obama .
Dickerson : There has been suggestions that within the West Wing, you had a fractious relationship with senior staff. Your response?
Harris : Not quite true John, we had minor disagreements, but the overall objective was to ensure that our "Build Back Better" agenda became reality.
Dickerson : Many veterans within the Biden administration, state your contribution to any policy iniative was neglible to middling at best.
Harris : Then there's two different versions, isn't there John?
Dickerson : Many say your one major achievement, was that you were the first woman of color to be elected Vice President, your comment?
Harris : That much we can agree upon, in a way I broke the glass ceiling for women!
Dickerson : Didn't Hillary Clinton , refer to "breaking the glass ceiling?".
Harris : Yes that's true John, but who actually broke it?
Dickerson : Onto to what many refer to as the Border crisis, the DeSantis administration are now making border security a pivotal cornerstone of their overall immigration policy. I would like to play a clip of the President's speech to Congress and get your response.
Clip of DeSantis speech to congress on Border Security
Dickerson : We now know that the President will be making border security the key component of his domestic agenda, Your thoughts?
Harris : I have to say this, I firmly believe, that everything on Border Security is being overblown for political purposes and it certainly hasn't deteriorated to the extent he has claimed.
Dickerson : So what is your response, when you hear that four Senator's, John Hickenlooper of Colorado, Mark Kelly of Arizona, Ben Lujan of New Mexico and Kyrsten Sinema of Arizona, intend to support the president's efforts on the Border?
Harris : They may have political reasons for taking such a position.
Dickerson : I see, so onto something else, and I refer to when President Biden , tasked you to addressing the border situation, so obviously even he felt the situation along the southern border needed to be addressed, what were your findings?
Harris : I stated at the time of visiting the border, that only minor adjustments were needed, but it certainly wasn't as bad when we left office, as it was under Trump .
Dickerson : What were the adjustments that you recommended?
Harris : Firstly we needed to end the appalling family separation policy and the "catch and release" policy was counterproductive.
Dickerson : Actually the "Catch and release" policy was revoked during the Trump administration.
Dickerson : While serving in the Senate, you are on record of attacking the Trump administration for the "family separation" policy and how children were in cages at Border security facilities, but these policies were slow to change once you became Vice President, why would this be the case?
Harris : We were coming out of the Covid-19 pandemic, and we had to ensure that all health measures were intact.
Dickerson : What was your reaction when you heard that the president named your successor as Vice President to head up the Border Security and Immigration Reform task force?
Harris : I am sure Vice President Haley will make the recommendations which are favorable to the President.
Dickerson : So what you are telling me and the viewers out there, is that the current Vice President will make recommendations that dovetail with the President's objectives?
Harris : Well no one can be sure, can they?
Dickerson : Onto matters political, you're no doubt aware, that there will be a governor's contest in California next year, and to all intended purposes, the likely Republican nominee's for Governor and Lieutenant-Governor, Young Kim and Michael Garcia , received the president's endorsement, coupled with that, a few weeks ago, a former colleague of yours in the Biden administration, Xavier Becerra has filed papers to establish an exploratory committee, so with that in mind, have you considered your own plans?
Harris : Unlike the Republican party, Democrats will decide on who their choice, through a vigorous primary process.
John Dickerson : That speaks to the Democratic party, but can you speak about what your plans will be?

(Laughter)
Harris : John, at this moment, my book is my priority and it is there where my focus will be.
Dickerson : So you can't give a definitive answer?
Harris : No, because now is not the time to decide, but trust me John, you will be the first to know! (More Laughter)
Dickerson : Thank you Madam Vice President for taking the time to talk with us.
Harris : It was my pleasure, John.
Dickerson : Thank you to our viewers and join us next week for 60 minutes.

FOX NEWS/NBC/UNAVISION HOST TOWN-HALL MEETING AT PAULEY PAVILION, LOS ANGELES: PRESIDENT DESANTIS FIELDS QUESTIONS

PRESIDENT DESANTIS IN RARE FORM, FIELDS QUESTIONS!

Enrique Acevedo

Lynette Romero

Jessica Tarlov

As Enrique Acevedo of Unavision, Jessica Tarlov of Fox News and Lynette Romero of NBC, acted as anchors and fed a variety of questions on a whole range of issues, including Taiwan, the Balanced Budget amendment.
However it was border security and the actions which the DeSantis administration intended to take, dominated a majority of the questions. the most notable part of the evening, was the President's response to a question regarding the remedies that will be implemented.
"Listen we are not going to pretend that fixing the problems will be easy, we can all agree, it is one hell of a mess down there, and saying it isn't won't make things better, but one thing for sure, help is coming"
Another question came in the form, "Why do all administration's regardless of which party, say they will fix it, never get the problem fixed?"
The President's response was as follows, "Cynicism is the enemy of action, that much is clear and yes, promises have been made before and yes there has been no follow through, that much we can agree on, but that being said, solutions will be found, problems fixed and from chaos, there will be a restoration of a structure that is fair to both migrant and citizen alike".
Enrique Acevedo, raised the issue of the border wall and what was the president's position on the wall? The president paused for a moment, "The border wall, has been an extreme response to an extreme problem, such a structure may be needed in a situation where we will need to complement our border security, but an open border is no solution and certainly doesn't make any kind of sense. However any Border wall, is a last resort!"
The President was quizzed on what type of immigration reform did he envisage, his response added clarity to the matter, "We have to fix our Southern border first and ensure Border Security is not just a punch-line, but a fact of life. So whatever recommendations are made, they will be implemented, therefore on immigration reform issue, that will require an overhaul of existing system"
In closing the President spoke about "How all of us, have something in common, we are all children, grandchildren and descendants of emigrants, but there others who are being exploited by human traffickers and the drug cartels, who's dream, has become a nightmare, that has to stop and it will stop!"

The town-hall served it purpose and now everyone had a clearer idea on the president's border security and immigration reform agenda.
It remained to be seen which event won the ratings battle, the Town-Hall meeting or Kamala Harris's 60 Minutes Interview.

@2016, I think it might be the 2024 exits that Matthew Dowd was referring to, but I can see where a trend here, maybe Harris has the same exits, and perhaps she won't commit one way or another, until she detects a vulnerability in Kim's armor, if anything Harris is an opportunist. She also may not be paying attention to the California picture, as she did mention her book and might wait a few months to decide! But she's likely punting, because she's gun-shy about the possibility of another shellacking, the political environment might not be too healthy for her, and she's probably looking at a 2028 rematch or just wait until 2032, when DeSantis will be term-limited and at the end of his presidency. Harris , perhaps could be looking at a political comeback like another Ex-Vice President from California did in 1968, namely a one Richard Nixon . So many possibilities on where to go here. Open to ideas too.

MONDAY MARCH 10 2025: DESANTIS WINS HIGH MARKS FOR HIS TOWN-HALL MEETING.  OVERNIGHT POLLING SUGGESTS HE IS GETTING MORE SUPPORT ON HIS BORDER SECURITY AGENDA. ANOTHER DEMOCRATIC LAWMAKER HAS THROWN HIS SUPPORT TO THE PRESIDENT'S BORDER SECURITY INITIATIVE. AS FOR THE HARRIS 60 MINUTES INTERVIEW,  SHE CAME ACROSS AS DEFENSIVE AND HER POSTURING ON THE BORDER ISSUE WILL LIKELY RAISE QUESTIONS ON HER POLITICAL VIABILITY: Many observer's agree that President  DeSantis hit all the right notes at the town-hall meeting last night! Basically he hit it out of the ball-park, so said ABC'S This Week Co-host, Chris Christie , even MSNBC'S Morning Joe, Joe Scarborough had high praise for the President, "He DeSantis looks like he has a plan and sending his Vice President to the border, shows us he is serious, we can no longer deny that it isn't a mess down there". Senate Minority Leader, Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY) is seeing the cost of his posturing, when Senator  Michael Bennet (D-CO) , who stated that he visited the southern border over the weekend and came back with his verdict, "I have seen enough! I will support all and any measures that President DeSantis deems are necessary to be put in place to fix this problem". When asked for a response, Schumer snapped "No comment". As for the 60 Minutes interview with Kamala Harris , It was widely panned and considered to be a PR disaster for Harris .  She came across as defensive on her record as Vice President and snarky, when it came to her plans for next year's Governor's contest in California. Then you had that infamous cackle, people remember why they don't like her" remarked CNN'S Chris Wallace.

The United States Senate today confirmed the Presidents' Pick, former Rep. Henry Bonilla (R-Texas) as his Ambassador to Mexico by a 70-30 Vote with Senators Kyrsten Sinema, Mark Kelly, John Hickenlooper, Ben Ray Luján and Michael Bennet voting in the Affirmative along wih all other Republican Senators.
Bonillas Confirmation as Ambassador to Mexico is seen as another little Puzzle Piece to bolster President DeSantis Border Initiative.

STATE DEPARTMENT ANNOUNCED THAT FORMER SPOKESPERSON MORGAN ORTAGUS HAS REJOINED THE DEPARTMENT
The United States State Department today announced that former Spokesperson of the Department Morgan Ortagus has rejoined as a Spokesperson. During Ortagus' tenure in the Trump Presidency the Abraham Accords were signed.

BORDER INITIATIVE GROUP OF SENATORS HOLD EARLY AFTERNOON PRESS CONFERENCE DISCUSSING LATEST DEVELOPMENTS
The Group of Eight Senators who support the Administrations Border Initiative led by Arizona Senator Kyrsten Sinema & Florida Senator Marco Rubio held an early Afternoon Press Conference discussing latest Developments. Rubio quipped „Now we are eight again“ drawing LAUGHTER from his fellow Senate Colleagues referencing to the „Gang of 8“ Immigration Reform Bill in 2013 which ultimativly died in the House „But I can assure you that we will do a better job with it“. All Eight Senators uniformly praised President DeSantis Answers during the Town Hall in Los Angeles last Night when is comes to Border Security. Colorado Senator John Hickenlooper said quote „The President brought the right sense of optimism combined with the right sense of realism“.
Senator Sinema was asked a Question by NBC NEWS Congressional Reporter Ali Vitali about former Vice President Harris Comment on 60 Minutes that the current Vice President Nikki Haley will be making quote „Recommodations favorable to the President when it comes to the Border“.
Sinema answered: „Ali, that tells me only one thing. How out of touch the former Vice President is with reality and the Voters. From what I can tell you having been together with VP Haley and her Team is this. We had one of the most productive Periods on the Border Issue with the VP. She is very much her own Woman, a very clear thinker when it comes to this issue. She will be making recommodations favorable to those people living down there who had to take the brunt of it for the last four years, maybe even longer. The Decision she makes will not be politically motivated I can assure you that. There is a very good reason President DeSantis has chosen her to be the Border Security Response Coordinator. The irony of this is. Republicans and my fellow Democratic Friends here beside me are being accused of politicizing the issue when the Democrats like former VP Harris and Minority Leader Schumer doing it“.

Shortly before her 3pm Press Briefing the White House announced that INDIA had been added to Vice President Haley's Diplomatic Trip through Asia that will commence next week. Upon learning it CBS NEWS Chief White House Correspondent John Harwood asked White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany the following Question:

JOHN HARWOOD: Kayleigh, isn't this Decision to add India more of a personal choice by the Vice President given her Indian Heritage?
KAYLEIGH MCENANY: „Are you serious John? Are you really serious with this? India was added because it has a large border with China and we think the Indian Govtm can have an influence to President XI to draw back his actions & rhetoric towards Taiwan. We could be potentially having an International Crisis and you are asking these sort of Questions who have no place in here“.

Other WH Correspondents such as FOX NEWS PETER DOOCY, NBC NEWS KRISTEN WELKER and CNN's CECILIA VEGA were looking in despair at Harwood.

MONDAY MARCH 10 2025: The remarks delivered by Senator Michael Hickenlooper of Colorado, at a press conference with other lawmakers, who last week visited  the Southern Border with Vice President Nikki Haley with Attorney General Lagoa and Secretary  Gimenez were telling Hickenlooper stated that "..seeing what we saw, was definitely an eye opener...this goes beyond politics and point scoring! I have to commend the Vice President over how she conducted the inspection process, and how she welcomed suggestions and comments from our front line staff in the Border Patrol, they need support from the federal government, support which they will receive, no questions asked!" Colorado's other Senator, Michael Bennet,  added, "...what I heard from John (Hickenlooper) , compelled me to visit the southern border and see for myself, and he wasn't kidding, what has been happening down there, is nothing short of administrative and bureaucratic malfeasance and for Vice President Harris to say the visit was "politics" is nothing short of insulting. Maybe for her the narrative,  "That things are not that serious" is important, tell that to the people who are affected!".
Hick Hope,  Press Secretary to the Vice President, announced "..that the Vice President will make a statement to the American people on the southern border at 5:00 pm (EST) from the White House, the Vice President, will brief the American people on her findings, and offer comments regarding when her report will be published". It was also announced that the Vice president met with the President in the Oval office, early this morning.

@President Stanton,
Yep, no surprise. Everything by Democrats is just POLITICS!
@2016, tell me about it 😒 🙄.
But knowing Harris , as politically obtuse and tone deaf she is, she'll probably believe by running for Governor of California, that she's doing the state and Democrats a favor by running; also judging from her attitude as Vice President, she has this belief that the mainstream media will cover her flanks and parrot her narrative. It's likely she will run and if she loses again! Democrats nationwide will offer a big sigh of relief 😌 "whew!". Also I don't think Becerra is all that a scintillating a candldate either, especially if he's facing  Kim , who'd probably run rings around the guy! I waa debating on whether to have Kamala sit out '26, but considering how Democrats tend to have a more disposable and competitive mentality about them, I don't think Harris would get a free pass on the nomination for '28, maybe so, if she didn't run and win in '26 or didn't run, and DeSantis is perceived to be unbeatable in '28, then considering how Harris is such a terrible candidate, the party would gladly have her be the "sacrificial lamb" and she loses again to DeSantis she gets all the blame & she's done once and for all! Who knows. I can imagine Kim will attack  Harris as part  of the so-called "San Francisco Cartel" & demand an explanation on her border security position amongst other things! Guess patience is a virtue.

Even worse for CBS, it happened to come the weekend BEFORE the March Madness Selection Show. In other words, CBS chose to counter-program the President instead of holding back on airing her interview as the lead-out to the Selection Show which has become a must-see event for sports fans and beyond (pretty sure everyone knows what the meaning of such terms as "bracketology" and "office pool" are by now and what they mean to March), especially given that, based on the recent contract extension from the pre-Trump era, CBS will be airing the Final Four from the Alamodome in San Antonio in 2025. Adding further insult to injury, it also comes during UCLA and USC's first year in the Big Ten, as part of a seismic wave of conference changes that came as a result of both this and Texas and Oklahoma set to join the SEC the following year. So much "California Dreamin'"...

To put it plainly, CBS fumbled - or rather, turned over - bigly and the water coolers at Variety, Mediaite, TVNewsCheck, etc. are running on overdrive on the whole specter of "What the hell were you thinking?", the same famous question that Jay Leno said to Hugh Grant when the latter appeared on the Tonight Show after his arrest for lewd conduct with a sex worker in Hollywood in 1995 - a question that would ultimately put Leno ahead of David Letterman in the late night ratings books (not counting major news events like Diana, Lewinsky, 9/11 and Iraq for which Ted Koppel would be nipping at their heels) for good. Except the question is not being asked by Jay Leno, the question is being directed at CBS executives high atop 1515 Broadway in Times Square (Black Rock has since been sold and its vacant space given to other tenants), and CBS should be lucky they aren't dealing with forgeries like what happened in 2004.

@SaintStan86, had to make it as fun as possible,  I guess CBS will see Harris as a jinx. Trying to compete with the President's town-hall wasn't going to end well for them, plus the whole interview won't get them anything in the ratings and the revenue side. There had to be pay-back for what happened over the Ted Cruz fiasco. Wait till you get my next post regarding the Haley press conference, especially her cutting remark directed at Harris .

Hi good evening, folks! Bill Hemmer at the news desk, I have with me Dana Loesch and Jennifer Griffin, but first we are going to Peter Doocy at the White House, Peter what are you hearing?

Doocy: Hi Bill, well there has been a flurry of activity here at the White House and ever since Hope Hicks, announced that the Vice president was due to deliver remarks on her visit to the border, it has become very hectic here. But no big reveal on what Vice President Haley will say! Bill.

Hemmer: Thanks Peter, Jennifer Griffin, you accompanied the Vice President to the border all last week, what is your sense of how things are?
Griffin: Bill, my one takeaway from the visit, compared to what we saw when Kamala Harris visited the border four years ago. It was not one big photo opportunity, the trip was about finding information and little else. I could see that it became a team effort, as everyone on the trip, realized how bad things were and wanted to hear it all. The Vice president brought a level of knowledge and interest to the issues being faced, that has not been seen in a long time.
Hemmer: That's something I'm beginning to appreciate, Dana Loesch! Thanks for joining us, what have you been hearing on your radio show, I believe very interesting.
Loesch: Hi Bill, Jennifer, the volume of call ins, relate to the Border Security issue, a very positive response to the President's town-hall last night, tells me that the folks out there accept that the Biden administration, Kamala Harris in particular dropped the ball on the southern border and virtually no effort was made to fix the problem.
Hemmer: So it seems Democrats are on the wrong side of this issue?
Loesch: It seems so Bill. Well sorry to interrupt you guys, because we believe the Vice President is about to appear.

Haley: Good evening everyone, well we have an awful lot to cover. Before I start, I would like to say I met with the President this morning and he was briefed on what we were confronted with at the Southern border over the three days we were there, so with that in mind, let me begin.
During visits to Arizona, New Mexico and Texas, what is occurring at the border can no longer be ignored or dismissed as "just politics", what has been occurring at the border, is chaos, confusion and a border security structure that has been and is overwhelmed, this has been going on for four year's, either because of willful neglect or indifference.
So changes are necessary and that will be the function of my report, which is to offer recommendations.
I would like to thank Senator's Marco Rubio,  John Hickenlooper, Mark Kelly, Ben Lujan and Kyrsten Sinema, Attorney General Lagoa and Secretary Gimenez, as well as  Governor's Grisham and Abbott, and Congressman Bonilla for joining me on the visit.
The overriding goal will to implement changes that will enable our Border Patrol Agents to secure the border and regain a sense of normality to the area. Once we have restructured the border, ensured that resources  are made available, the process to reforming our immigration system will commence, that will come in both through  restructuring and overhaul of the current system, which we can agree is not equipped to deal with 21st century needs.
I will hand the podium over to the Attorney General.
Barbara Lagoa: Good evening, thank you Madam Vice President.
As you just heard from the Vice President, during our visit to the border last week, what we witnessed was largely an overwhelmed and under staffed border security apparatus
and that is due to how the Border security situation is not only caused by a massive influx of migrants, this is due in part to a combination of factors, Chief amongst them is the presence of human trafficking gangs and the drug cartels who are also moving a high volume of narcotics across our southern border, this brings an element of criminality into the towns, communities and urban center's which dot our southern border, to that end, the Department of Justice will be using the resources of the Drug Enforcement Administration, as well as the FBI and local law enforcement to end this scourge once and for all. There will be an increase of resources to ensure that our Southern border. The outline of this restructuring will be included within the Vice President's report. I will now hand over the microphone to my cabinet colleague, Homeland Security Secretary, Gimenez. Carlos.
Carlos Gimenez: Thank  you Barbara, The most important part of Border Security, is to protect our Homeland and as the Vice President and Attorney General have already stated, that there not only needs to be a restructuring of the border security system, but the Deployment of resources, to this end, I will recommend to the President and the congress, that a expansion of our border security force will be necessary, that manpower will need to be increased, and that border security will have the powers and resources to ensure the border is actually secure, it will be necessary to establish fortified facilities and bases along the border, strengthen the existing parts of our border wall. The Department of Homeland Security is responsible for securing our border and that process will begin now. Thank you Madam Vice President.
Haley: OK, we will take questions.
Kylie Atwood, CNN National Security correspondent: Raises her hand.
Haley: Kylie, your question?
Atwood: Madam Vice President. The raft of measures being recommended by the Attorney General and Secretary of Homeland Security are going to be costly, don't you think that such measures are an overreaction of the Administration?
Haley: Well no Kylie, its not a overreaction and yes Kylie, maybe costly as you suggest, but this Administration made it clear we would tackle border security.
Ken Dilanian, NBC Justice and Intelligence correspondent: My question, to you Madam Vice President, isn't the measures being suggested, unfair to the migrants?
Haley: Ken, I'm sorry, but the migrants are coming across the border, with no vetting process in place, how is that fair to our country? Before I became Vice president, I took an oath, and I will quote, "That I will support and defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic.." unquote.
So Ken in response, so if it's unfair to the human traffickers and drug gangs that I take my oath seriously, well I am afraid that's too bad. I understand why the migrants are crossing our border, because they want to avail of the American dream and who wouldn't, but what we really have is a nightmare, that needs to end.
Olivia Gazis, CBS News Intelligence and National security reporter: Madam Vice President, I would like to find out and see the administration has established some sort of a timeline on when you see the changes you envisaged in place and ready for implementation.
Haley: Olivia, that will depend on how quickly we formulate the recommendations into a plan of action. But we probably expect within the next six months.
Greg Myre, NPR National Security correspondent: Madam Vice President, this question relates to a matter concerning the expansion and deployment of border security resources to area's where the border wall doesn't exist, would it be possible to know if the administration is now considering resuming construction of such a wall.
Haley: Well Greg, the border wall still exists and not to use, where the current manpower levels prohibit saturation coverage of the border, so initially it might be necessary.
Greg Jarrett, Fox News Legal affairs: Madam Vice President, will border security operations coordinate with other local, state and federal law enforcement authorities?
Haley: Yes, Greg that is and will be the plan to coordinate all aspects of resources that are and will be available.
John Gizzi, NewsMax White House Chief Correspondent: Madam Vice President, the remarks made last night by Kamala Harris in her interview on 60 minutes, suggested that the southern border was secure and the administration was overreacting. She even suggested that the motive for bringing up Border security was and I will quote, "Just politics", any comments?
Haley: Well I'm sure that anything that the former Vice President Harris says regarding the southern border, she made clear a few years ago, and obviously she is pretty sure of her position, so we will leave it, at that.
Okay thank you everyone.
Hemmer: Well there you have it, the Vice president has made it clear that changes will be made and I think the words of the Attorney General, should give the human traffickers and drug gangs, reasons to be worried. Jennifer Griffin, your thoughts on the Press conference?
Griffin: Haley from her visit to the border, knows what will be required, and I think both the Attorney General and Secretary Gimenez are likely to contribute to what changes will be necessary.
Hemmer: Dana Loesch, I will let you have the last word.
Loesch: Bill, the Vice President's response about Kamala Harris's remarks on her interview last night were telling  and ouch! I think the Vice President made it clear, that she doesn't believe that Harris has anything of substance to contribute to the border security debate.
Hemmer: Well thank you guys for joining me and thank you to our viewer's, join us later on Special Report, where Shannon Bream will be filling in for Bret Baier, who's away on assigment.
There will be more about this news conference and the expected reaction to the Vice President's remarks, as well what the Attorney General and Secretary Gimenez are seeking.

@2016! Hot dang! For Democrat this isn't going to end well on Border security, especially when you have both Harris and Schumer are in a "ostrich with head in the sand" mode! Bet when these new Polling figures come out, they'll probably say the polling samples are warped or words to that effect and just double down. They're still probably in denial about how bad they did in 2024! Reminds me of the Black Knight (in money python and the holy grail), gets his arm chopped off by King Arthur and says "tis but a scratch" and when he loses all limbs, he says "Alright let's call it a draw". It would be funny if both Hickenlooper and Lujan , successfully beat back these challenges! Progressive Democrats like Elizabeth Warren , can't do anything about Bennett, Kelly or Sinema and they're gonna  have the three of them spitting in their eyes at every opportunity. Will have to do a poll on the town-hall and Haley's visit to the border.

BIG RETIREMENT IN THE LONE STAR STATE: ALSO RUMORS ABOUND ON A POSSIBLE GUBERNATORIAL RUN BY MICK MULVANEY IB SOUTH CAROLINA.
With the next Gubernatorial contest in Texas well over a 1½ year away, Greg Abbott, has informed donors and supporter's alike, that it is likely he won't seek another term as Governor; if that is true, expect to see another George Bush to throw his hat into the ring. No, not the former President, but rather his nephew George P..
The former Land Commissioner, who lost a primary four years ago. Meanwhile in South Carolina, the likelihood that Lindsey Graham will call it a day, and as this is about to occur, so too will the announcement that Mick Mulvaney , former WH CoS  unde4 Trump will seek the Governorship in a bid to succeed term limited Governor Henry McMaster .

@President Stanton,
Republicans will have the Public on their side this time when it comes to the border. These new measures including the potential restart of Construction of the Border Wall would not have been neccessary if former Vice President Kamala Harris had done her Job properly. Of Course Schumer will argue he has been double-crossed but it won't get very far. It is really important to flatten the curve of migrants.
By April 30th Congress will likely have passed a Border Security Bill to supply the much needed manpower and resources.
Where do you get the funds for it? Quite simple: Repeal parts of the Biden Inflation Reduction Act especially those 87,000 IRS Agents and direct that funding to the Border Security Bill.

CAMPAIGN NEWS 2026
THE SABER-RATTLING HAS STARTED AMONG DEMOCRATS...
PROGRESSIVE DEMOCRATS PUSH FOR PRIMARY CHALLENGERS TO SENATORS HICKENLOOPER AND LUJAN

Progressive Democrats in the Senate led by Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren and California Senator Alex Padilla are pushing for Primary Challengers to Senators John Hickenlooper & Ben Ray Luján after their recent Defections to support President DeSantis Border Initiative.
In Colorado they apparently encouraging Congresswoman Diana DeGette to challenge Hickenlooper while in New Mexico their early preferred Candidate is Secretary of State Maggie Toulouse-Oliver. It's however unclear if Toulouse-Oliver would even consider the Race given that there is an Open Governor Race next year in the State.

MACE PREPS FOR SENATE RUN IN SOUTH CAROLINA AMID INCREASING RETIREMENT RUMORS ABOUT SENATOR LINDSEY GRAHAM
Congresswoman Nancy Mace is said to preparing a potential Senate Run as Retirement Speculation is ramping up on Senator Lindsey Graham's Political Future. If Graham does retire the Republican Senate Primary could get very crowded though. Almost the entire South Carolina Republican Congressional Delegation would be looking at the Race.

91-YEAR OLD IOWA SENATOR CHUCK GRASSLEY INDICATED THAT HE MIGHT RESIGN AT THE END OF THE YEAR
In a recent Interview with the Quad-City Times 91-year old Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley said that he might resign early and not serve out his Senate Term which ends in January 2029. Grassley overwhemingly beat Michael Franken during the 2022 Midterm Election.
A Grassley Retirement could put Republican House Conference Chairwoman Ashley Hinson in a dilemma. Hinson was considered a shoe-in for a possible Senate Appointment until she joined the Republican House Conference.

NEW POLL OUT LATER THIS WEEK BY A MAJOR NEWS ORGANIZATION WILL REVEAL YAWNING VERDICT FOR DEMOCRATS
Rumors hinting that a Major National Poll will be coming out later this week to reveal YAWNING Details for Democrats when it comes to the Border Issue, Balanced Budget, the National Depth, etc.

You meant to say FORMER Congresswoman DeGette, right? In the original TL, DeGette indeed retired and Candi CdeBaca is one of a number of emerging freshman progressives in the mold of AOC, hence her being the "AOC of the Rockies". Hickenlooper is quite entrenched amongst Democrats, though, and it will be hard to sell suburban Denver voters on a DeGette primary challenge even though DeGette herself represented many of these suburbs over the years, since they are largely Hickenlooper's primary base, having elevated him over Cory Gardner in 2020.

I also think it will be Nancy Mace and one of the upstate Republicans, possibly Jeff Duncan whose seat used to be held by Lindsey Graham should Graham retire. Duncan's 3rd District is the most conservative district in the state - consisting of Greenville's heavily Republican western suburbs as well as the Anderson and Greenwood areas and Clemson University (one of the more conservative FBS universities which along with the adjoining city of Clemson itself flipped from Biden to DeSantis, Biden having only won there in the low 50s in 2020), along with exurban Columbia's Newberry County.

A Mace vs. Duncan showdown would pit Haley ally Mace against Freedom Caucus member Duncan, and they certainly won't be the only candidates running on the GOP side. Expect the Democrats to focus more on the Graham seat just like they focused more on the David Perdue seat in Georgia with Jon Ossoff, versus the one Raphael Warnock defeated Kelly Loeffler in - which Herschel Walker has since won back for the GOP in the OGTL.
