Even if the 22nd Amendment was to be repealed, DeSantis might not benefit! If there were a repeal, then then all future President's could seek and serve two terms at a time; the same arrangement exists for Governor's in most states such as Alabama, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma and South Dakota. So in which case, DeSantis would still have to step down after eight years, but after a four year interregnum, he could seek the presidency again.
But let's not get carried away. This timeline will just deal with the period between 2025 and 2029.

Not very likely. The Republicans are going to be more focused on creating a robust bench of successors both in the White House and in Congress versus the sort of "King" mentality for which it seemed only Donald Trump "alone is capable of fixing it". Remember that the Republican voter is more conservative and less combative than Trump and DeSantis effectively is serving as the Reagan to Trump's Nixon.

A while back, there was a timeline where Reagan ran for a third term (you know, the one where two terrorist planes exploded over Tulsa and Ann Richards was elected Governor of Texas in 1986 as opposed to 1990?)

Personally I believe DeSantis is less interested in constitutional tinkering, and just wants to be a reformer in the mold of Theodore Roosevelt. Immigration is the big thing in this TL, then the next big thing will likely be healthcare or education. The foreign policy thing, might capture his interest if there was a possibility  of tangible success. So that's how and why I have O'Brien working on the Peace initiative. As the story moves on, little pieces of the puzzle, even one of the reasons behind why DeSantis went with O'Brien in the first place and not Rubio as where everyone, myself included was. Remember O'Brien was Trump's NSC advisor and there could have been stuff behind the scenes he was upto, stuff he merely resumed once he got State. As for the 22nd Amendment, I don't think it could be or will repealed and if so, the caveat would what I suggested at the top of this page, and DeSantis is more focused on the stuff he's doing in this TL.

Wednesday February 12 2025
JOHN RATCLIFFE TAKES HIS SEAT AS CIA DIRECTOR; SENATE CONFIRMS NOEM AS SECRETARY OF THE INTERIOR IN A LATE NIGHT VOTE TUESDAY EVENING 58-42 WITH MASSACHUSETTS SENATOR ELIZABETH WARREN HOLDING UP THE VOTE FOR SEVERAL HOURS; HOUSE LEADERSHIP TO GO TO WHITE HOUSE TODAY TO BEGIN FORMAL TALKS HOW TO IMPLEMENT PRESIDENT DESANTIS AGENDA. THEY WILL BE JOINED BY REPS CASSY GARCIA, MONICA DE LA CRUZ & MAYRA FLORES. SCALISE ALSO EXTENDED INVITATIONS TO TWO DEOCRATIC SENATORS: KYRSTEN SINEMA & MARK KELLY AND THEY HAVE ACCEPTED. MAJOR HOT TOPIC ON THIS FIRST DAY - THE SOUTHERN BORDER CRISIS
John Ratcliffe was sworn in this Morning as Director of the Central Intelligence Agency and promised to protect the Country to the best of his abilities in his Introduction Speech.
South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem was confirmed as Secretary of the Interior by the Senate 58-42 in a late Night Vote that was held up for several Hours by Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren.
House Speaker Steve Scalise announced today that the House Leadership consisting of the Speaker, Majority Leader Banks, Majority Whip Ferguson & Conference Chair Hinson would travel to the White House to begin formal talks how to pass & implement President DeSantis Political Agenda. The Leadership will be joined by Rep Cassy Garcia, Monica de la Cruz and Mayra Flores. Scalise also invited the two Demcratic Senators from the Border State of Arizona, Mark Kelly & Kyrsten Sinema to join the Meeting with the Southern Border Crisis the Hot Topic. Before embarking to the White House Scalise held his Weekly News Conference and spoke to Reporters.

House Speaker Steve Scalise
„Good Morning! I know you all have a lot of Question and we will get to that a bit later. Today I can report to the American People that we will begin the first formal steps to solve our Southern Border Crisis and our Immigration System as a whole. Since the Biden Admistration took Office in January 2021 until the end of 2024 5.8 Million undocumted Immigrants crossed our Southern Border and overwhelmed our Communities particularly in the States of Texas & Arizona, yet the core Democratic Leadership in the House & Senate focused their attention on countless Spending Bills instead of resolving this Issue. President DeSantis has made illegal border crossings as one of the Central Pieces of his Presidential Campaign and we are now going to answer that call. I've made several trips myself to Texas & Arizona and the Situation is a complete mess down there. I am encouraged by the Open mind of Senators Sinema & Kelly who are standing behind me, to work with us. Immigration Reform shouldn't just be a Republican or Democratic Issue, it should concern all Americans. With that I am now going to answer some Question.“

REPORTER # 1: Will there be a Border Wall like former President Trump once suggested?

House Speaker Steve Scalise
„I knew this was coming. We don't know that yet. Look, a wall doesn't neccessarily mean you have less illegal Immigration. There are other Mechanisms to solve a Border Crisis like for example hiring more Border Patrol Agents. We have far less at the Southern Border then we need. We need more to be quite frank!“

REPORTER # 1: Given that previous Attempts to reform our Immigration System failed what makes you to believe you will be able to get something done this time?

House Speaker Steve Scalise
„The Country was very divided back then. We will have the Public on our side this time I believe. As I said in my remarks this isn't a Republican or Democratic Issue, it's an American Issue. There is no reason we can't craft an Immigration Bill that can pass with overwhelming bipartisan Majorities and I am sure we will other Democrats besides Senators Sinema & Kelly who are standing behind me. Thank You!“

OFFICE OF THE VICE PRESIDENT: VICE PRESIDENT HALEY TO ATTEND HOUSE LEADERSHIP MEETING WITH CONGRESSIONAL DELEGATIONS FROM TEXAS & ARIZONA AMID BORDER CRISIS
Soon after House Speaker Scalise wrapped up his Weekly Press Conference CNN learned through Spokesperson for VP that Vice President Nikki Haley will attend that Meeting. This comes amid increased Speculation that President DeSantis is ready to tap his Vice President as BORDER CZAR sometime next week.

Also shall mention that the three Latina members from the border between Laredo and McAllen will also be joined by Morgan Cisneros Graham (whose district includes Brownsville) and Tony Gonzales (whose stretch of the border goes from north of Laredo all the way to just outside El Paso).

Also, for the House as a whole it shall be noted that New Hampshire's 1st District is now represented by Karoline Leavitt who in this TL is going on her second term as the baby of the House. Babysitter and adult diapers not included nor even necessary, though it's fair to say she will already have been on a number of "30 Under 30" lists and multiple Young Republican speaker engagements.

On some other appointments, may I suggest former U.S. Ambassador to Spain Duke Buchan as USAID Administrator? (USAID is the agency dealing with the implementation of foreign aid). Also, I would suggest former U.S. Ambassador to Mexico Christopher Landau as a Special Advisor on Border and Immigration Policy within the DeSantis administration.

On the military front, I would suggest the following names:
  • Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff: United States Central Command commander, Gen. Michael Kurilla, has taken over for Gen. Mark Milley, with conservatives viewing the promotion of "Gorilla" to succeed Milley as an "infinite improvement" given that Sean Hannity among others has viewed Milley as a "traitor".
  • Secretary of the Army: Rep. Mark Green of Tennessee, who was nominated by Donald Trump for the same post but never confirmed because of backlash over past comments regarding transgendered folks and Islam. He has since been elected to four congressional terms, and his congressional service will likely be of greater interest than whatever past comments were made in his pre-congressional days. He is also a fellow native of Jacksonville alongside President DeSantis.
  • Secretary of the Navy: Hung Cao, two-time former congressional candidate in Virginia who had two very strong performances against Rep. Jennifer Wexton. Cao's story as a Vietnamese immigrant who went on to serve his country is likely to be of great interest.
  • Secretary of the Air Force: Retired four-star general and SpaceX employee Terrence O'Shaughnessy, who retired in 2020 after 34 years of service to the Air Force including several tours as a Commander.

Lastly, it will be interesting to see if Raymond Arroyo (Fox News commentator and news director for EWTN) does indeed become U.S. Ambassador to the Vatican. Still looking through the Foreign Service and elsewhere at the very critical ambassadorships to Russia and China...

ARIZONA OFFICE HOLDERS JOB APPROVALS
Governor Katie Hobbs 38 % / 58 %
Senator Mark Kelly 57 % / 41 %
Senator Kyrsten Sinema 55 % / 42 %

Secretary of State Mark Finchem 49 % / 47 %
Attorney General Abe Hamadeh 45 % / 45 %

Do you Approve/Disapprove of the Job President Ron DeSantis is doing as President?

And if the Candidates were Katie Hobbs, the Democrat and Meghan McCain the Republican whom would you vote for?
Meghan McCain 51 %
Katie Hobbs 40 %
Undecided/Refused 9 %

Pollster Mike Noble: Since there was so much talk last week about Border Security and Immigration Reform we decided to go into the Field to gauge what Voters are thinking. Our Poll was in the Field from Feb 12-16 and we polled 650 Registered Arizonans.
The big red flag is obviously for Governor Katie Hobbs who has only a 38 % Overall Job Approval but her Approval on Crime and Border Security is much lower and sits in the mid to low 30ties.
Hobbs would trail all her potential Challengers next year from anywhere between 6 to 15 Percentage Points.
We've seen a massive shift from Voters towards Border Security although that is in line what we saw in the 2024 Presidential Election when President DeSantis pulled out a surprisingly large Victory and made huge inroads into the Hispanic Community.
Voters have a mixed additude towards a Border Wall but would support more Border Patrol Agents, Law Enforcements and Background Checks to those who enter Arizona through our Border.
Voters are also approving of the Job President DeSantis is doing but are also reacting very positivly to Senators Kelly and Sinema. 3/4 of the Voters we polled support their efforts to secure the border and overhaul the immigration system who many say is broken.

TUESDAY FEBRUARY 18 2025: THE CONFIRMATIONHEARINGS ON BARBARA LAGOA'S NOMINATION AS ATTORNEY GENERAL,  BEGAN TODAY, JUDICIARY COMMITTEE CHAIRMAN,  LINDSEY GRAHAM GAVELED THE COMMITTEE ROOM TO ORDER. GRAHAM RECOGNIZED, RANKING MEMBER DICK DURBIN, WHO ASKED HIS STATEMENT INTO THE RECORD. BOTH SENATOR'S MARCO RUBIO & RICK SCOTT, INTRODUCED JUDGE LAGOA.  LAGOA'S OPENING STATEMENT WAS BOTH CONCISE AND LEFT NO ONE IN ANY DOUBT, THAT SHE WAS PREPARED FOR ANY QUESTION DIRECTED AT HER.

Judge  Barbara Lagoa
For most of her time facing the committee, Lagoa effortlessly swatted questions directed at her by the Democrats. It became clear to many of the Democrat committee members that Lagoa was being given free rein to the content of her responses. A heated argument between  Alex Padilla of California and Mike Lee of Utah broke out, on the issue of abortion. Lee , kept saying "Out of order, Senator!" Graham informed Padilla , that his microphone would be shut off, if his tone wasn't in keeping with Senate decorum.
The proceedings for the remaining of her time before the committee was without incident.

POLLING DATA IN ARIZONA COULD SPELL TROUBLE FOR HOBBS. HOWEVER TROUBLE COULD BE BREWING FOR DEMOCRATS IN THE GOLDEN STATE AS WELL. IMMIGRATION MIGHT BE A BIG ISSUE IN ARIZONA,  BUT CALIFORNIA ISN'T IMMUNE,  AS NEW POLLING SUGGESTS DEMOCRATS ARE FACING STRONG HEADWINDS
ON THE QUESTION OF IMMIGRATION AND BORDER SECURITY! ALSO A WHOPPING  52% OF CALIFORNIA VOTER'S lARE LOOKING FOR A NEW DIRECTION IN HOW THINGS ARE DONE.
.  Democrats "...have largely ignored these issues and weaponizing it to great effect  against Republican's to great effect and then having the media shield them...but now folks want abswers!" quipped Scott Jennings, who once worked for George W. Bush, '...we tried to fix immigration under Bush" Added Jennings and Obama didn't  do anything either! Now we are where we are!" David Gergen, who once worked under two President's of two different parties, Reagan and Clinton,  "To his credit Ron DeSantis has it in his gift to not only fix the border situation, but overhaul and reform our immigration system, and with the exception of both Kelly and Sinema, it appears that Democrats are unwilling or unable to act, if they fail to do so, it will be noticed". Charlie Cook of the Cook Report, stated "Last year Democrats were caught wrong footed by what has become the DeSantis factor and it appears the Immigration issue and Border security has revealed a big gaping vulnerability! And what I can see, they seem unable or unwilling to come up with solutions!" Coolk went onto explain, what has been happening in Arizona, appears to be a contagion, that is infecting the body politic in California!"
Through to what Cook was suggesting, Voter's in California are suddenly waking up and demanding answers of their elected officials.Democrats from their Governor  Gavin Newsom to those who are vying to succeed him in 2026 (Newsom is term limited), they include Lt. Governor, Eleni Kounalakis , as well as Xavier Becerra,  Eric Garcetti and Hilda Solis . Will be forced to answer those questions, even Kamala Harris , should she decide to run, will be in the cross-hairs, after all when she was Vice President, Biden placed her in charge of resolving the problem and nothing was done. Ambitious  Republican's such as Kathryn Barger , along with Kevin Faulconer and Mike Garcia will most certainly capitalize on such a policy vacuum. For the first time in 20 years, Republican's might be able to run the table in California.  "For the most part the GOP have good reason for optimism, considering the success that Kevin McCarthy enjoyed, as well as the inroads that Ron DeSantis ", stated David Urban, who added "....Admittedly there were different issues in the 2024 cycle, but the inability of Democrats to get ahead of both the immigration and Border Security issue,  is seriously hurting their brand".

Next Up: Outwitted by Lagoa, A Democrat registers concerns, that Logoa is a "Trojan Horse" and performs a walkout!

Wednesday February 19 2025, Second day of hearings for the Lagoa , was less dramatic and more weighted on what Lagoa envisaged for the DOJ going forward, and informed the committee, that going forward, that her role going forward would be to enforce existing law's and it was not the DOJ's role to interpret which law's these were. She spoke about how it was her intention, on adhering to "separation of powers, in the execution of her responsibilities. One member of the committee, Sheldon Whitehouse of Rhode Island, Inquired if as Attorney General, would  Lagoa "...thought it was the responsibility of an individual state, to enforce current abortion law, or was it a federal matter, since the Supreme Court's decision to overturn Roe vs. Wade?" Lagoa , cited existing precedent, using the Voting Rights Act of 1965, as an example, stating as follows, "The responsibility of the Department of Justice at the direction of the Attorney General, is to enforce existing law's or judicial rulings...nothing more". For the most part, the remainder of the hearings dealt with matters concerning DOJ oversight of the FBI, and issues of immigration law. Lagoa's responses were rudimentary and she merely referred to existing practices and requirements. At the end of the session, the Committee chairman, Lindsey Graham , made closing statements, following those made by the ranking member, Dick Durbin. Scheduling a final committee vote for the following day. There were minor fireworks when one of the Democrats on the committee, Alex Padilla of California, referred to Lagoa as a "Trojan Horse" and announced he was boycotting the remainder of the hearings.

Looks like California is in play! Though I shall note that Kevin McCarthy's victory was in large part owed to the Democrats being shut out of their primary for Senate, with McCarthy having defeated Ric Grenell in November of 2024. Still, the fact that Republicans are even talking of a "California Comeback", and also given Gavin Newsom is term-limited, has to be unsettling for the Donkey Brigade.

@SaintStan86, I am developing a some polling data, in keeping with the idea that California might be in play, using the Immigration issue as my lynchpin! Note the 52% I cited, that was roughly the same % that DeSantis won by on a national scale. Who I ever have emerging on the Democrat side, will face a backlash, because of a lack of a message or having literally nothing  to say on the Immigration problem. Going to play the Immigration angle up.

WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 19 2025, SPECIAL REPORT ON FOX NEWS, HOSTED BY BRET BAIER,  AND WITH GUESTS AS JOYCE KERNS GOODWIN,  MICHAEL BESCHLOSS AND KARL ROVE, ALSO APPEARING ON THE SHOW. The news show had several segments dealing with both the Border Security situation and the outstanding problems with the Immigration system. With Michael Beschloss opining, "...Ron DeSantis for better or for worse is on the right side of history on the Immigration situation and by identifying the problem during his presidential campaign, he wants to find a resolution to the problem!". Joyce Kerns Goodwin, stated that, "...President DeSantis is in the position to remake the political landscape in his image, and his speech next Wednesday night, will be a game-changer". For his part, Karl Rove, who once was a political strategist for former President, George W. Bush , suggested, "There was a reason for DeSantis's success with average Democratic voter's, and these same voter's went for him in droves, for a very good reason, and when you have Lawrence O'Donnell, Joy Reid and Alex Wagner, doubling down on suggesting the Immigration problem is made up, then it's them, along with those in positions of leadership in the Democratic leadership, people like Schumer attacking both Kelly and  Sinema who know better than most it's not a problem that has been made up, so because they want to cooperate with Republican's, they are attacked, Democrats are not paying attention and this s why DeSantis has been doing so lately in polling".

CAMPAIGN NEWS 2025/2026
TROUBLE BREWING FOR DEMOCRATS IN GOLDEN STATE…NEW CALIFORNIA POLL, VERY MUCH LIKE THE POLL CONDUCTED BY MARK NOBLE ON HOW THINGS ARE GOING IN ARIZONA.
IN POLLING DATA, FROM A SURVEY OF A POOL OF 9,254 VOTERS, SUGGESTS A YAWNING CHASM BETWEEN VOTERS AND DEMOCRATS.
A poll conducted by Mark DiCamilio, on behalf of both the UC Berkeley Institute of Governmental Studies, Politico, the Los Angeles Times and the San Diego Tribune, indicated problems for Democrats, and suggests that the party has an uphill struggle to retain the Governorship next year. amongst those issues that were cited by voters, include Crime, immigration, Taxes, Government regulation and voters gave Democrats negative marks.

Tab Berg, a Sacramento based Republican political consultant, that Democrats failure to address the immigration matter, particularly in California, has created a perception issue among voters, that Democrats are prepared to ignore a problem such as immigration, it appears that they prefer to weaponize, the issue of immigration especially at election time and attack anyone who tries to fix the problem. It’s the height of cynicism and has worked for the longest time, but that seems to be no longer the case.
Tony Smith, A University of California Professor of Political Science and Law, said Republican’s under Ron DeSantis have regained the initiative and now have a clear message.

FRIDAY FEBRUARY 21 2025: FIRST POTENTIAL CANDIDATE FOR GOVERNOR OF CALIFORNIA, ESTABLISHES EXPLORATORY COMMITTEE ON CANDIDACY.

Young Oak Kim
Republican Congresswoman Young Oak Kim who currently represents California's 39th District, and has done so, since her election to the seat in 2020, has established an exploratory committee for the Governorship of California. Kim , will be the first figure of either party to register interest in seeking the office, which is currently  held by term-limited Governor Gavin Newsom . It is recognized that while Kim is the first to declare her interest, she certainly won't be the last. Speculation has centered around Kamala Harris , the former Vice President, as well as Xavier Becerra , as well as Los Angeles Mayor, Eric Garcetti and Hilda Solis. Kim will probably likely have such competitors as Mike Garcia, Former San Diego Mayor, Kevin Faulconer and Kathryn Barger-Leibich. Before serving in Congress Kim was a member of the California state assembly from the 65th District. She is a graduate of the University of Southern California (BBA, and was born in Incheon, South Korea. She married Charles Kim in 1986, they have 4 children and reside in La Habra, California. Should Kim succeed in winning the Republican nomination, she would be the first woman since former Senator Dianne Feinstein in 1990 to represent either major party in a general election. It must be noted that Feinstein lost the contest for Governor, to then Senator and former Mayor of San Diego, Pete Wilson.

@PRESIDENT STANTON,
Poll seems very unrealistic. Unlikely DeSantis has a 57 % JA in CA. Also as @SaintStan86 mentioned CA has still a Top-2 Primary System. Regarding Hispanic Voters in CA, they are generally speaking more liberal compared to the rest of the States with high Hispanic Populations (Remember how Sanders romped Biden in the Democratic Presidential Primary in 2020 among Hispanics). That doesn't mean Republicans can't win if Newsom drives the State more into the ditch.

It would be interesting to know how much inroads DeSantis made into the Asian-American Pacific Islander Community. My guess is that someone like Rep. Michelle Steel or Rep. Young Kim would have a better chance compared to Faulconer or Garcia.

I would guess the most likely scenarios for Republicans to pick up the Governor's mansion in California are Democrats locking themselves out again (they have a bunch of possible candidates, and it's not like Harris is going to clear the field if she runs), or Harris being the leading Democrat facing a single strong Republican (possibly someone Falcouner or Grennell) after the top-two primary (she's easily the weakest potential candidate, and that's without counting her in-timeline 2024 performance).

I think a non-Harris Democrat should still win, assuming Democrats don't lock themselves out again.

THE BIG WEDNESDAY
Washington D. C. wakes up to a cold, rainy and grey Day in February, Wednesday the 19th of 2025.
For one particular Woman residing in the Naval Observatory and a nearby House this Day was different, the Vice President of the United States of America Nikki R. Haley. Today she would be put in charge of a 1,945 Mile Border between the Country and it's Southern Neighbor Mexico. She wasn't afraid. She had never walked away from a challenge before. The Mass Shooting in Charleston in her Home State of South Carolina in 2015 and being felt vulnerable as Governor afterwards as well as being the Ambassador to the United Nations during the Trump Presidency had toughened her up.
What she felt was the burden of expectation! With Republicans enjoying unprecedented Majorities in both Houses of Congress due to her Boss's landslide Victory in the 2024 Presidential Election for the first time, maybe the only time in this Countries History, meaningful Border Security and subsequent Immigration Reform was possible. How could you not fell the weight as Daughter of Indian Immigrants?
Haley recalled in her mind a conversation she had with then Presidential Candidate & Florida Senator Marco Rubio in 2016 when she campaigned for him to draw strength from it:

Rubio in 2016: "Nikki, Immigration Reform & Border Security will be hard, it will take years but if I am fortunate to be our Presidential Nominee and become President I will do everything in my power no matter how long it takes to get it done".

There she was, at the crossroads of something he wanted to do all those years ago. But so many had crumbled before with this issue! George W. Bush, Barack Obama, Donald Trump and lastly her Predecessor in the previous Administration, former Vice President Kamala Harris, who was put in the same Position she would be put in today. As she embarks on her way to the White House for a Press Conference that would be put together for the 2pm Hour she said to herself:

"Not this time. This time we will get it done for the good of the Country however long it takes."

MEANWHILE DURING THE CNN MORNING SHOW „NEW DAWN FOR AMERICA“ (RENAMED FROM NEW DAY IN RECOGNITION OF PRESIDENT DESANTIS FIRST 100 DAYS IN OFFICE) WITH ALISYN CAMEROTA & JOHN BERMAN A HONEST CONVERSATION TAKES PLACE BETWEEN REPUBLICANS (SCOTT JENNINGS & MARK MACKINNON) AND DEMOCRATS (KIRSTEN POWERS)
Scott Jennings: What I worry most Mark & Kirsten is the sky high expectation the Administration has put themselves under particularly on the issue of border security & immigration reform. Even with the large majorities you pointed out you can't just wave a hand and it happens. It is going to take years to really go into effect. People crumble under that sort of pressure!
Kirsten Powers: True Scott but President DeSantis has really good Advisors on this issue I think. Look at Secretary of Homeland Security Carlos Gimenez and the majorities Republicans have are really large with 270 Members in the House (when all the Specials have been filled up) and 65 Seats in the Senate. I think it all comes down how many concessions the more conservative fraction in the House & Senate are willing to make. Border Security is one thing and mostly everyone will agree that we need more border reinforcements but what are you going to with the almost 6M People who already came here illegally? Deport them? Seperate their Families like Donald Trump & Kirstjen Nielsen did in 2017/2018? I don't think that is what President DeSantis wants given his historical gains he made with the Hispanic Community last year. And keep in mind despite the border being not secure at the moment rougly 60 % still favour a Pathway to Citizenship.
Mark Mackinnon: What we first need is clean the border of those drug dealers & cartels operating at the southern border and we can't do that all alone by ourselves Kirsten. President DeSantis and Vice President Haley (who will be tapped as Border Security Czar today) need some help. While I absolutely despise the rhetoric of former President Trump when he said "We will built a wall and Mexico is going to pay for it" the Mexicans do need to sent some border security reinforcements to prevent those folks I mentioned from crossing over. That's why the Ambassador to Mexico along with Haley as Security Czar and Homeland Secretary Gimenez is so important to this. As for those 6M People who already crossed we need to run background checks on them to make sure they don't have a criminalistic one and if people behave like a normal American Citizen offer them a Pathway to Citizenship after a resonable time.
Kirsten Powers: I agree with this Mark. That would be a good place to start!
Scott Jennings: I wouldn't be surprised if President DeSantis sents VP Haley and a Delegation to Mexico soon.
Mark Mackinnon: Maybe Congress passes a Border Security Bill first and then afterwards dealing with these 5.8 to 6M People House Speaker Scalise mentioned who crossed the border illegally?
Kirsten Powers: We shall see!

ON ABC'S GOOD MORNING AMERICA FORMER NEW JERSEY GOVERNOR CHRIS CHRISTIE WEIGHED IN ON THE DESANTIS' AGENDA IN GENERAL
What I really like about this Administration George is that there is some sort of burden sharing. We knew Vice President Haley would take over more of the National Security matters like border security given her time at the UN while President DeSantis will most likely unveil more of his Economic Agenda soon.

Around 10.30 Vice President Nikki Haley arrives at the White House, takes some refreshment and does some editing in her Office.

Around 12.30 Nikki Haley goes into the Oval Office, meets President Ron DeSantis, National Security Advisor Dina Powell-McCormick, Homeland Security Advisor Ken Cuccinelli, Homeland Secretary Carlos Gimenez, Chief of Staff Byron Donalds, Senior Advisor Brad Herold and White House Counsel Chris Sprowls. They are having Discussions in the Oval Office.

Around 1.50: DeSantis, Haley, Cuccinelli, McCormick-Powell, Gimenez and Donalds make their way to the Press Room.

President DeSantis, Vice President Haley, Homeland Security Advisor Cuccinelli, National Security Advisor Powell-McCormick, Homeland Secretary Gimenez and Chief of Staff Donalds come out of the Door and enter the White House Press Room.

President Ron DeSantis: Good Afternoon! Today as President of the United States who has a constitutional Duty to protect our Country I am announcing further steps to protect our southern border. I am appointing my Vice President, NIKKI HALEY, as my Border Security Czar and Nikki has gratefully accepted this Appointment!

Vice President Nikki Haley: Mr. President, I humbly accept your Appointment as Border Security Czar and with this new role I pledge to do everything in my power to help secure our Southern Border paving the way for Immigration Reform this Country badly needs.
Like the President said these are just further steps to reach that goal. On this occasion we should mention our border patrol agents who are performing so admirably under a lot of stress & adversity and they are vastly outnumbered but I have good News for them. You are heard within these four walls of the White House and accross Washington and help is on the way soon.
I also want to thank our communities living on the border for their resilience over the last four years. You will not be forgotten like you have by previous Administrations. Over the next few weeks I will strongly collaborate with Homeland Security Advisor Cuccinelli, National Security Powell-McCormick, Homeland Secretary Gimenez and I plan to visit the southern border as soon as practically possible. Thank You!

HALEYS APPOINTMENT AS BORDER SECURITY CZAR DRAWS WIDESPREAD POSITIVE REACTION DURING THE AFTERNOON AND EARLY EVENING NEWS SHOWS WITH ONE EXCEMPTION
VP Haleys Appointment as Border Security Czar drew widespread positive Reaction during the Afternoon and early Evening News Shows.
FOX NEWS Pentagon Correspondent Jennifer Griffin weighed in during THE STORY WITH MARTHA MACCALLUM saying quote "The Country needed a Course Correction after the failed Policies of the previous Administration and these new steps will provide that. She also said VP Haley showed an EAGERNESS to visit the border as soon as practically possible and to be quite frank Martha we never saw that eagerness from former VP Harris when she was in the same postion."
On ABC WORLD NEWS WITH DAVID MUIR ABC's Chief Foreign Affairs Correspondent Martha Raddatz weighed in saying quote "These are just the first few steps to resolve the issue of Immigration. It'll never be an easy fix David but the new Administration is making all the right moves here."
Meanwhile on MSNBC Joy Reid & Alex Wagner accused President DeSantis of playing "Gender Politics" again. Reid quipped: "Kamala did not lose because she was a bad Candidate. She lost because a certain Florida Governor played Gender Politics during the 2024 Presidential Election" Soon after Alex Wagner joined the Chorus.

Is Grenell going to skip out of his UN gig to go back to California to redeem himself for losing to McCarthy? What about Garcia?  The polling data has him doing better, than other
Republican's against each of the other potential Democrat competitors. All of the Democrats appear to be weak, and could end looking weaker, if they can't get their act together on the Immigration issue. From the trend I'm seeing in the Arizona numbers, the Democrats like Kelly along with Sinema are doing better, while  Hobbs is losing against any of the Republican's she faced, and considering how Harris only paid lip service to the border security issues and Immigration, but basically did diddly squat. I smell a vulnerability and an opportunity. I'd have any Republican's hitting her hard on those two issues, if she makes the cut!

The 57% JA for DeSantis is the honeymoon factor at play, nothing more. I don't believe for one minute, California voter's aren't tired of being in the ditch, and remember the picture is likely to be different, when it's closer to when voter's are about to have their say.

@PRESIDENT STANTON,
That is an interesting move you made there on the MTP Round Table: Republican Strategist Al Cardenas is the Husband of frequent Contributor & Political Commentator Ana Navarro, who was very divisive during DeSantis tenure as Governor of Florida. Cardenas is a Floridian.
Equally interesting is to have Kate Bedingfield there. That is really the first time we have a high ranking Govtm Official of the Biden Administration there since DeSantis was inaugurated as President. I wonder what she is going to say. She seems more smart though than these MSNBC hacks. I am really curious now what happens this Sunday on this TL.

@2016, well I have seen Al Cardenas on MTP in the past, he seems to be the mature adult in the room, as for Kate Bedingfield, thought I'd use her in the round table discussion, as you said, she's smart as hell; as for Lindsey Graham , targeting Democrats for engaging in "distortion and scare attacks", I'm sensing a new line of attack by Republican's on that party; further emasculating them; guess Democrats are frustrated and skittish, in how they are being outmaneuvered at every step. Once the DeSantis speech is out of the way, will have to see how things pan out in the Florida, Texas and Utah special elections and of course let's not forget the Obama presidential library opening. It should be fun to do the set up of a possible  Biden & Trump interaction between those two. Might get some movement on some exploratory efforts on the California Governor's front, never too early. Could have some surprises too.😉

Friday February 21 2025
FRIDAY HAS STRUCK IN THE NATIONS CAPITAL...
Fridays are usually slow News Days in and around Washington but maybe not today?
ON FOX AND FRIENDS WITH AINSLEY EARHARDT, STEVE DOOCY AND BRIAN KILMAEDE FROM NEW YORK GRENELLS CONFIRMATIONS TO THE UN, THE NEW AMBASSADOR TO MEXICO & HIS DEPUTY AND THE PRESIDENTS ECONOMIC TEAM WAS DISSECTED...
Ainsley Earhardt: I want to bring to attention what DANA PERINO, Co-Host of the "FIVE" & former WH Press Secretary under George W. Bush said late afternoon yesterday answering a Question by Katie Pavlich.
Dana Perino: "To answer your Question Katie and I am bold on this: My guess is that Congress will pass a Border Security Bill in the next four weeks or so with massivly increased Law Enforcement Officials & Border Patrol Agents which will lift the burden of these Communities living at the border. It takes about I would guess 12-15 months to lower migration closer to the level before President Biden took office and then they will pass a larger Immigration Reform Bill in the summer of 2026. If they can get this done it could change the whole 2026 Campaign around and should Democrats be still opposed to this they will have to eat it. I am basing this on all the moves the new administration has made over the past 10 Days or so. There is also a lot of things we even didn't see in public. These conversations about border security & immigration reform took place even before President DeSantis was inaugurated. They are smart people from what I could gather from the outside looking in."
Brian Kilmaede: Also, here is what former Congressman Henry Cuellar of Texas, who has now been appointed as Deputy Ambassador to Mexico by President DeSantis, said in September 2022 after then Vice President Kamala Harris told Chuck Todd on MTP the border was secure: "The border is not secure, with all due respect to the VP. This — look, we get thousands of people along the border, from 6,000 to 8,000 people a day. They’re releasing people, and we can send you pictures and videos of what’s happened in Del Rio, the valley, El Paso and other places. People are coming in,
"We have 1.7 million people that were encountered last year. We’re going to have 2 or maybe 2.2 [million] by the end of this fiscal year in about two more weeks. That’s almost 4 million people," he warned. "That doesn’t even include the getaways. Getaways are the people that border patrol has a good idea that evaded them. So you’re talking about almost 4 plus, maybe 4.4 million individuals in two years."
"If you call that ‘secure,’ I don’t know what ‘secure’ is."

Democrats ignoring FACTS Kilmaede quipped to Earhardt & Doocy.

Also, the former Chairman of the National Council of Economic Advisors under President Trump, Larry Kudlow joined FOX & FRIENDS expressing concerns of the vastly inexperienced economic team of President DeSantis "Look Steve, maybe I am wrong on this but his Team does look somehow less experienced compared to the Team we have had."
Also, Florida Senator Marco Rubio, who is a Member of the Senate Foreign Relations Cmte hit Democrats on their posturing, delay, scare and stall tactics when it came to confirming Ric Grenell to the UN. Rubio affirmed that he would vote to confirm Lagoa this afternoon.

MEANWHILE ON ABC'S GOOD MORNING AMERICA...
Senator Mark Kelly of Arizona said that quote "Speaker Scalise was I little bit too kind when he said last week that we had 5.8 to 6M Illegal Immigrants crossing our border during the Biden Administration. It's probably closer between 8-8.5M. Kelly said Lagoa had impeccable credentials and good judgement, exatly what we need to prosecute some of these cartels, smugglers and drug dealers trying to evade our country."

LATER IN THE MORNING...
The House Republican Caucus wrapped up it's week and minor business before heading to Virginia Beach, Virginia for their 3-Day Winter Retreat. Scalise, flanked by Majority Leader Banks, Majority Whip Ferguson and Conference Chairwoman Hinson, giving his Weekly Press Conference jokingly said: Senate Majority Leader Cornyn was way more busy these last four weeks so when we come back next week and the Presidents' Speech is done I return the favor and get more busy. (Drawing a laughter from Banks, Ferguson & Hinson").

VICE PRESIDENT HALEY HEADS TO THE STATE & LABOR DEPARTMENTS TO ADMINISTER THE OATH OF OFFICE FOR RIC GRENELL AND BLAKE MASTERS
Vice President Nikki Haley was busy as well this Morning administering the Oath of Office for Ric Grenell as Ambassador to the United Nations and Blake Masters as Secretary of the Labor Department after both were confirmed yesterday by the Senate.

Thank you @2016.
FRIDAY FEBRUARY 21 2025, after gaveling the Senate Judiciary Committee, Chairman  Lindsey Graham held a vote on the nomination of Judge Barbara Lagoa to be Attorney General, for the most part the committee vote was along party lines,  however there were two Democrat defections. As expected Alex Padilla voted against confirmation. With this piece of housekeeping addressed, the full Senate voted, the vote was 69 in favor and 30 against. After the vote Graham spoke to a gaggle of reporter's and criticizing Democrats "We now have an Attorney General who can address the disgraceful border situation...and despite efforts by Democrats to stall, delay prevaricate on the confirmation of President DeSantis nominee's to fill position's in his administration. It appears to me that Democrats only embrace bipartisanship, as long as it is on their terms....I hope the American people are paying attention, especially the antics of Senator Padilla , I would like to congratulate our new Attorney General, Barbara Lagoa , as she prepares to assume her new position.

CNN BREAKING NEWS: "Hi this is Wolf Blitzer at CNN, welcome to our viewer's here and around the world, Barbara Lagoa, has been confirmed as the nation's 87th Attorney General, this means that all of DeSantis's administration position's are now filled, we have Kaitlin Collins over at the White House, standing by, Kaitlin could you tell us what will happen now?"
Collins: Well Wolf, its all hands on deck, here at the White House, from what I have just heard, there will be a swearing in the Oval office, with the Vice President administering the oath of office and fron what I have heard, the President and the new Attorney General will make statements after the swearing in. With the Lagoa confirmation a done deal, it is expected that both Lagoa and Vice President Haley will visit the southern border to assess the seriousness of the crisis. I also understand that the president's upcoming message to congress is being described as a state of the union message, message which will deal with the border situation and a description on how to address the problems, Wolf back to you!"
Blitzer: Thank you Kaitlin, now over to our panel, with me, I have Scott Jennings, Susan Glasser
Priscilla Alvarez and Jessica Schneider.
First of all Jessica Schneider, what will be Lagoa's priorities at DOJ?
Schneider: Wolf, it is clear as day, that the DeSantis administration  will make the Border situation a top priority going forward and it is safe to say that Barbara Lagoa now in place, along with Carlos Gimenez at Homeland Security, that the administration can be safe in the knowledge that they won't be regarded as Anti-Hispanic, because of their efforts, it must be understood, that Barbara Lagoa will ensure that the letter of the law is followed when addressing the immigration and Border Security issues.
Blitzer: You want to say something Priscilla?
Alvarez: The Border situation will need to include a legal remedy which is solely not directed at the illegal and undocumented who are crossing the border daily, what the administration needs to do, is target the cartel gangs and those who exploit these migrants for their bottom line.
Blitzer: Scott Jennings, your thoughts from what you've heard?
Jennings: I agree with what both Jessica and Priscilla,  but that being said, I can't help but feel mystified by how Democrats stubbornly refuse to accept that everything at border is fine and then you have Lawrence O'Donnell claiming that there's no crisis and  Republican's are making things up, well I have a suggestion for Lawrence O'Donnell, go to the border or even ask two Senator's from Arizona, who also happen to be Democrats , they are  Mark Kelly and Kyrsten Sinema are saying that the Emperor has no clothes and indeed things are rotten at the border.
Blitzer: Susan Glasser, why hasn't there been an bipartisan effort on immigration?
Glasser: Because Wolf, we have has a situation in this country, that Democrats are not interested in immigration or Border issue's and Republican's used it as a campaign issue, but that was before now, in fact I will go so far to say, I think DeSantis wants to do something  about the Border and Immigration and that has to be refreshing.
Blitzer: Well thank you guys, and thanks to our audience for watching in. So if you don't know it yet and if you are tuning in, Barbara Lagoa  has been confirmed as Attorney General and will be sworn in at the White House and we will bring the swearing in to you live. Thank you for tuning in.
(Switch over Fox and then C-Span, nothing new)

New Attorney  General Barbara Lagoa

FOX NEWS ALERT! THIS IS SHANNON BREAM,
AND THERE HAS BEEN AN UPDATE ON DETAILS SURROUNDING THE SWEARING IN CEREMONY OF INCOMING ATTORNEY GENERAL BARBARA LAGOA

Bream: This is Shannon Bream, reporting here, and we have an update concerning the arrangements for the swearing in ceremony for the Attorney General, we have Peter Doocy at the White  House, Peter what do you have for us?
Doocy: Shannon, the swearing in ceremony was scheduled for late afternoon, has been postponed,  due to a snafu, apparently Judge Lagoa's family Bible isn't in Washington, but rather in Florida, so the swearing in has been rescheduled for Tuesday.  The president from what I have heard will be travelling  to Virginia Beach, to join both the First  Lady and Vice President; apparently the President had planned to fly with the Haley's and First Lady on Marine One to Joint Base Andrew's, but was unable to do so, due to Secret service security protocols, which stipulates that both the President and Vice President travel separately. Apparently the President was unaware of this fact. Despite this hiccup, the president's good mood wasn't  affected as he headed towards Marine One, this is Peter Doocy reporting for Fox News at the White House, Shannon
Bream: Thank you Peter, apparently not everything runs smoothly for President's or Attorney  General, back to Fox and Friends.

LATER FRIDAY AROUND 3.30PMET WHITE HOUSE ANNOUNCES LAGOA TO BE SWORN IN TUESDAY
Brooke Baldwin: We've just received some BREAKING NEWS from White House Communications Director Christina Pushaw who just sent out a Statement that newly confirmed Attorney General BARBARA LAGOA will be sworn into Office on Tuesday ahead of President DeSantis' Speech to a Joint Session of Congress which is slated to take place on Wednesday.
The Reason for this Delay is that neither President DeSantis nor Vice President Haley will be in Washington this weekend as they will both travel to Virginia Beach, VA later this afternoon to join the Republican House Caucus for their Winter Retreat Meeting. DeSantis & Haley are slated to return to Washington on Monday.

DURING THE 5PM HOUR
Wolf Blitzer: What you are seeing her on this Split Screen are Marine One on the left and Air Force One on the right and you see of course the President, the First Lady, the Vice President and the 2nd Gentleman making their way towards Marine One as the embark from the White House. Marine One will take them towards Joint Base Andrews where they will board Air Force One to fly over to Virginia Beach, VA where they will join the Republican House Caucus for the Winter Meeting. Always a Special Moment for a new President when he takes his first flight out of Town. President DeSantis stayed largely in Washington for the last four weeks so this will be the first time he leaves the Capital. Let's see if he says something to Reporters before he boards the Helicopter.
WH Reporter: Mr President, how do you feel?
President Ron DeSantis: Very well. Think about this: My Cabinet got confirmed in record time. Never happened before. We'll have a great Celebration on Tuesday for Judge Barbara Lagoa as she gets sworn in as Attorney General. So tremendous success! We are all looking forward to that. But I've a plane to catch (LAUGHTER) so I see you on Monday Afternoon/Evening.
