I'm guessing the early money on State Sen. Jennifer McClellan, but there are some who say the late Congressman's widow, Richmond Commonwealth Attorney Colette McEachin, is the lone true successor to her husband. There's even some who say another State Sen., Joe Morrissey, is the one, but he is an oddball on the level of the infamous Edwin "Crook" Edwards, and for reasons beyond the impropriety allegations with the Millennial woman he eventually married.
As for Leon Benjamin, he might have pockets of strength around the western Hampton Roads area and in both Southside Virginia and Richmond's West End, but other than that he's a heavy underdog who will get slaughtered everywhere else in the district, even with the Glenn Youngkin endorsement. But if the Blexit crowd wanted to have a golden opportunity to surprise people, this would be an early test of that.
On an unrelated note, this is going to be a heavily retconned TL now given that Trump is in, Biden is in, and several of the Rs who won in the beginning of the OG TL are not in their positions. I was right on Katie Hobbs and John Fetterman for the Democrats and Anthony D'Esposito for the GOP, but Christine Drazan and Doug Mastriano aren't there (though the latter's eye-popping loss was definitely of his own doing, even taking away the childish denialism about 2020 - name one Republican who thinks avoiding the mainstream media for interviews is a "winning" strategy!).

AS THE DUSTED SETTLED OVER BORDER SECURITY BILL MORINING SHOWS TEARING INTO SCHUMER FOR HIS OPPOSITION
On MSNBC's „MORNING JOE“ fellow Floridian Joe Scarborough called Minority Leader Charles Schumers (D-New York) Move OPPOSING THE BORDER SECURITY BILL dangerous while his Co-Host Mika Brzezinski claimed Schumer was playing with quote „Our National Security“ unquote.
Scarborough also called on „Certain Achors on the Network“ to tone down the temperatures & rhetoric towards this Administration and the President.
During „CBS MORNINGS“ Host Gayle King voiced DISAPPOINTMENT that the Border Security Legislation did not get more Votes in the Senate and questioned Minority Leader Charles Schumers (D-New York) motives for blocking it. She also quickly shut down the notion that the Bill has quote „Racist Language“ unquote. That is simply not true King said.

CNN announced today that the Network has selected longtime Anchor & Chief Washington Correspondent DANA BASH as permanent Replacement for its early Evening Show „THE SITUATION ROOM“. Bash will replace Wolf Blitzer who retired earlier this year. Her Selection drew widespread support across the Political Spectrum. Upon learning her Selection Bash said she feels „Incredibly humbled and grateful to be selected as the next Host of the Situation Room and she is keenly aware of the legacy that Blitzer left behind who she still considers as Mentor & Friend". Bash will assume her Duties as new Host on Monday, March 5th 2025.

President RON DESANTIS today signed the „SMALL BUSINESS ENHANCEMENT & REINVESTMENT ACT“ into Law providing much needed Relief for the Countries Small Business Community who are still reeling from the COVID-19 Pandemic. This Bill was originally known as the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 which passed under a Democratic Congress in the Biden Administration during 2022 except that it didn't reduce Inflation at all. The Republican Congress made Major Changes including repealing the 87,000 IRS Agents as well cutting the Biden Administrations Climate Change & Fossil Fuel Provisions out of the Bill and replacing it with Provisions for Small Businesses.
Attending the Sign-In were the Republican House Leadership, the Republican Senate Leadership including Republican Conference Chairwoman JONI ERNST (R-IOWA), a Co-Sponsor of the Bill, Senator KEVIN MCCARTHY (R-CALIFORNIA), Senators JD VANCE (R-OHIO) & JIM JORDAN (R-OHIO) who were also Co-Sponsors and some moderate Democratic Senators.

KAYLEIGH MCENANY: Welcome to todays White House Press Briefing! I'll get a few Points across and then I will answer some Questions. As already being reported the President today signed the „SMALL BUSINESS ENHANCEMENT & REINVESTMENT ACT“ into Law providing much needed relief for the Small Business Community in this Country which we believe is still the backbone of our Economy. These Communities were living under the burden of the Biden Administrations draconian Regulations including the 87,000 IRS Agents and they deserve better. Between 5PM ET and 6PM ET Secretary of Defense KENNETH BRAITHWAITE will give another Update on the Situation in North Korea. Finally next week the President will make some Appointments & Nominations in Relation to the Administrations Ecucation & Economic Policies.

Nancy Cordes, CBS NEWS Chief White House Correspondent: Kayleigh, can you elaborate about the Town Halls the Vice President will be holding later this month in various States around the Country. What is this all about?
KAYLEIGH MCENANY: One thing I can tell you Nancy, it is not a Campaign Trail. As alluded by the VP's CoS STEPHANIE GRISHAM it's the way how we cummunicate to the American People. They have the right to know how the Border Security Legislation will be implemented and VP HALEY will outline that during these Townhalls and will also talk further steps this Administration will take towards reforming our Nations Immigration System. As you and many people in this Room may have already figured out we have been one of the most transparent Presidential Administrations in its First 100 Days in a long time despite suffering a lot of hardships and curveballs.

Cecilia Vega, CNN Chief White House Correspondent: Kayleigh, what do you make of the Statement issued by Mexican President Christina Pardo this morning?
KAYLEIGH MCENANY: Well, I can tell you this Cecilia that President Pardo and President DeSantis are very much on the same Page. The President can't wait to travel to Mexico later this month as he was locked in the Country for the past 100 Days which is unusual in itself but given the Challenges we faced was reasonable I think. President Pardo understands that Border Security & National Security are as important to Mexico as they are to the United States.

Kristen Welker, NBC NEWS Chief White House Correspondent: To follow up on that. President Pardo said that Mexican-US Relations have been strained over the past four to eight years. What do you think she meant by that?
KAYLEIGH MCENANY: I'm saying this in hindsight Kirsten that former President Trumps Phrase „We will built a wall and Mexico will pay for it“ probably wasn't the smartest of ideas but neither was having a completely open border with bascially zero restrictions. That's why the Meeting is very important to restrengthen those Relations.

Political Commentators across the Early Evening Cable News Shows on both sides of the aisle noticed that the DESANTIS' ADMINISTRATION Press & Communications Team took a far less confrontational tone during the first 100 Days of this Administration compared when President DeSantis was Governor of Florida or when Press Secretary MCENANY briefed the Press during COVID-19 during the Spring & Summer of 2020.
CNN Political Commentator Scott Jennings said during Jake Tappers THE LEAD: They have taken a very different approach. The Press Secretary refused to go after the Senate Minority when it comes to opposing the Border Bill. They seem to have taken the approach that they led the American People judge and decide these things. I have to say though that History won't be very kind to Senate Minority Leader Schumer (D-New York) of what he did in the last couple of Days.
During the Daily Pentagon Briefing Secretary of Defense KENNETH BRAITHWAITE confirmed that South Korean & US Forces have taken control of the DMZ given that North Korea has literally no Government at the moment. North Korea Jihad has done Two Circles aroung Pyongyang which neither the Chinese nor US Forces have been able to penetrate. To complicate things the North Korea Jihad has control of the biggest Nuclear Power Plant in the Country and they have threatened to blow that up which could cause a Humanitarian Catastrophe three times bigger than Chernobyl. Braithwaite said that there will soon be Phase 2, a large scaled Air-Attarck Millitary Offensive by Chinese, US, Japan and South Korean Air Force to incapitate front line positions by the North Korea Jihad around the North Korean Capital to make the way for Ground Forces.

The United States House of Representatives today passed a bipartisan bill by a Vote of 402-31 with two Abstentions (UT-2 and VA-4 are Vacant) creating the talked about 4/22 Commission to investigate what happened on that fateful Day in Houston, Texas. Standing in front of the National Press inside the Capitol after the passage House Speaker STEVE SCALISE (R-LOUISIANA) and Democratic Minority Leader HAKEEM JEFFRIES (D-NEW YORK) reiterated what they said a couple of Days ago that the American People deserve answers of what happened in the lead up to April 22nd.
Some Progressive House Democrats did not vote for the bill citing it as a ploy to investigate the Biden Administration.

During ABC's World News tonight with DAVID MUIR ABC Contributor Maria Elena Salinas, who travelled across the Country particularly in States that had a Border to Mexico, had a sit down with the Anchor discussing the recently passed Border Security & Protection Act and offered clues to the Hispanic Community living in Border Towns.
Salinas said Residents were very appreciative to the DESANTIS-HALEY Admistration for trying to secure the southern border to Mexico. Voters in Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and California were telling her „Ending Title 42 was the worst thing that happened to our Border Communities and Towns, a full disaster. We welcome Migrants but that has to be done in an orderly manner and not them swarming our communities“.
Salinas called the Meeting between President RON DESANTIS & Mexican President CHRISTINA PARDO a very important one which could yield a breakthrough. She also called the recently announced Town Halls by the Vice President a Great Idea to hear directly from Residents.
Salinas also offered a warning to Democrats as the once core voting group for the Party is changing and can no longer be assumed voting that way. We've seen a Hispanic realignment in 2024. Whether that will last is too soon to tell but if the Administration manages to get an Immigration Reform Bill passed next year with a pathway to citizenship we could see more Hispanics gravitating towards Republicans.

During FOX NEWS SPECIAL REPORT with Anchor BRET BAIR Senate Majority Leader JOHN CORNYN (R-TEXAS) vowed to put the bipartisan bill creating a 4/22 Commission that passed the House overwhelmingly today for a Vote on Monday and urged Senate Minority Leader CHARLES SCHUMER (D-NEW YORK) to support it although Schumers Office already said that he would vote against it saying quote „Republicans have been investigating the Biden Administration for the last two years and I will not allow that to continue“.
Cornyn for his part said „It is complete malpractice Bret! We have a totally new situation with the Houston Attack that occured a couple of weeks ago. Americans deserve answers of what happened in the lead up to that Event and we will provide that. Once again the Minority Leader is putting his own interests over the Country just like he did with the Border Security and Protection Act“.

"A DAY IN THE LIFE OF THE WHITE HOUSE : White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany today announced that the President and First Lady will be the subject of a special two-hour Fox News Special on a "Day in the Life of the White House", Co-hosted by Bill Hemmer and Shannon Bream. The special program will be recorded over a 2-day period & will air on Friday, May 9, 2025. There will be a 30 minute segment dedicated to an interview between the President and Shannon Bream. The focus of the interview is expected to deal with the President's upcoming meeting with the Mexican President, as well as his visit to Canada to attend the annual G-7 summit and his visit to Europe.
