And there is speculation that by the end of this decade, India will overtake Japan too in becoming the third largest economy in the world, after China and the United States:

This is really about the fall of the GBP relative to INR in CPI-adjusted terms.  Still, in PPP terms which factor out these current shifts, India's GDP overtook Japan to be #3  in GDP a while ago.
