Tax Cuts and Jobs Act passes the House of Representatives
March 28, 2017

The bill, which lowers taxes across the board while reforming the tax code and providing a tax credit for those starting new businesses, has passed the House of Representatives.

With 246 Republicans and 189 Democrats, 241 Republicans voted for the legislation and five against it. All Democrats voted nay on the legislation.

Representative Maxine Waters explained her opposition to the TCJA by saying: "This bill is not only damaging to our economy and security. It also contradicts the Donnell Administration's agenda on deficit reduction and fighting climate change"

Ed Donnell visits Ohio, promises to renegotiate NAFTA
March 31, 2017

The President has embarked on a trip through the Midwest region. His first stop is in Ohio, more specifically its northeastern region.

Donnell has spoken to blue-collar workers in Youngstown, and promised to renegotiate NAFTA and TPP, to revitalize American manufacturing:

"I will continue to fight for American workers like you, and revitalize American manufacturing. First of all, the Donnell Administration will renegotiate unfair trade agreements such as NAFTA and TPP, so they're fairer for American workers and businesses. We are going to take action on China, such as formally declaring the communist country a currency manipulator, and ending their most favored nation status. Furthermore, Americans starting new businesses will receive a tax credit and deduction. All Americans are going to prosper over the coming years"

On April 4 2017, Ed Donnell signed the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act into law. It was similiar to OTL, except rates were slightly higher, and there were tax breaks for those starting new businesses
