There has never been a black female governor of any state, and while Stacey Abrams was often discussed, some folks now think Winsome Sears is an obvious contender. I think she and Juliana Stratton are some kind of early frontrunner in their states, for 2025 and 2026, respectively.

A dark horse on that question whose name was never mentioned is Lisa Blunt Rochester, currently the sole House member from Delaware. The state elects its governor in presidential years and incumbent John Carney is term-limited in 2024. I think Rochester would be an obvious candidate for the job, if she wants it, and would almost certainly get Biden's endorsement as well. However, it seems she' barely on anyone's radar, but could really make history with a run. And even before Sears or Stratton get their chances, unless they have to step in early via succession.

Any thoughts?
