My school principles and superintendents who had doctorates were always referred to as "Doctor" by the students. That's literally completely normal in education and has been for a very long time.

If Jill Biden wants her students at whatever community college she teaches at to call her “Doctor,” then fine, but when she insists on using the title outside of school, it’s quite pathetic. There’s a reason the AP Stylebook reserves the actual use of the title “Dr” to actual physicians. Her insistence on being referred  to as “Doctor” in public was even more pathetic in the setting of a pandemic- where real doctors were working on the frontlines, ccatching COVID when no vaccine existed, and spending weeks-on-end isolating from their families and loved ones.

I don't know, I don't have a problem with her being referred to as "Dr. Biden".  Now, I personally wouldn't like being called "Dr." anywhere outside of a clinical setting (and even there, I wouldn't insist on it).  If someone calls me "Dr." on the street, at a party, etc., I just cheerfully say that they can call me by my first name. 

But she worked for her doctorate, she can use the title.

Anyone with a doctorate can be called a doctor, whether or not they are liberal or conservative, whether or not they are First Lady of the United States.

Even if it was a joke, it was a highly disrespectful one to those service members who have actually earned the Medal.

Trump has no respect for service members.
