When I was about to conduct a poll about the least liberal Democratic state, I was seriously considering which states fall into said category.
I intended to define every state as "Democratic" that has voted for the Democrats in every presidential elections since a certain year, but I wasn't sure how far this benchmark year ought to go back to.

Which presidential election ought to serve as a criterion for the definition of states as "blue" or "red", respectively, in your estimation?
