He has a lot in common with Romney. Both are liberal republicans too.

Watching Fetterman v. Oz play out is giving me warm nostalgic flashback vibes of the sort that I felt around watching the 2012 Presidential race, the first time I was seriously invested in politics outside of the childhood Bush-bashing you'd expect from someone of my background, so sure, let's go with that.

One big difference: Romney has actually won multiple, statewide elections over the course of his political career,  something it seems increasingly unlikely Oz will do.

No — Romney lacks the celebrity background that I consider part of what makes Oz such a disasterous candidate.

That being said, they are similar in many other ways and give off a similar 'out-of-touch rich person' vibe.

Nah. Underneath Mittens's Mr. McMahonesque elitism and own Medicare privatization plan which proved formative in my perception of the GOP's attitude towards have-nots lies a competent corporate officer. He masterfully organized the most recent American Winter Olympics, a task which would make any project manager blush. Likewise Bain Capital continues to flourish. He's a good businessman, you simply can't run a country as a business because the fiduciary duties are so different vis a vis an elected official.

In contrast Oz is a charlatan, quack, grifter, and never passed a 100-level statistics course. He might still win as the all-important Keystone State will likely feature a plurality Trump-voter electorate this fall. However, such an underqualified, unappealing candidate might just be a bridge too far for the aging Appalachian ConservaDems whose world-famous 2016 defection harpooned the GOP's great white whale.

Oz is hardly a "liberal Republican." The guy seems to have no real ideological beliefs whatsoever, and any he's had he's willing to flip-flop on (kind of like Romney). His only real beliefs seem to be based on grifting and opportunism.

So from that it sounds like the comparison should be apt, but I would agree with this:
One big difference: Romney has actually won multiple, statewide elections over the course of his political career,  something it seems increasingly unlikely Oz will do.

On top of that Romney does actually have appeal to at least some demographics in the country, Mormons specifically, but Oz doesn't seem to appeal to anyone.

Romney lost Pennsylvania by 5 points, while Dr. Oz is going to get blown out by high single digits.

You could say he is a mix of the worst of Romney and Trump.

Oz isn't running on privatizing Social Security and Medicare, so no. He's a much stronger candidate, all things considered.

Romney has voted twice to convict Trump on impeachment charges. Does anyone here think Oz might do that?

One big difference: Romney has actually won multiple, statewide elections over the course of his political career,  something it seems increasingly unlikely Oz will do.

How do you define "multiple"? Romney lost his first electoral bid -- the 1994 US Senate race in Massachusetts against Ted Kennedy. Then eight years later, he won a gubernatorial race in Massachusetts. Then ten years after that, he won 24 states in the presidential election of 2012 -- is that what you mean by "multiple"? Then six years later he won the Senate race in Utah. Not counting his presidential race, he's only won two elections.

Errr....I define multiple as more than one, as I thought everyone did.

Romney's main problem was flip-flopping on one of his main accomplishments as Governor, Oz is just a bad candidate, they aren't the same.
