Around the turn of the century it was regarded as a conservative urban area which is what you'd expect in Idaho. Gore lost Ada County almost 2-1. Now the city is a D stronghold and the county is close to flipping.

What happened? Like what is attracting liberals to somewhere in Idaho?

It's been growing quickly partly as a result of the tech industry. Most of those tech workers are going to vote D.

Against all expectations, the trend has been so hard because the Boys from Boise have been most fruitful and multiplied.

It's really, really sad that even though I have been to that dump called Pocatello (there is a damn good reason that "they" never, ever go back there, trust me), I have never paid a visit to the  Boise Boys (BB's for short).

Aside from existing urban v rural polarization trends, Boise is a growing city, and I imagine much like the larger growing cities in the interior west, much of the growth is transplants from the coast looking for a smaller, more affordable city with beautiful scenery.
