I'll do the 1988 election and Harry Parker's presidency, then end the series.

During his second term as Vice President, Harry Parker focused on working with President Reagan to fight the farm crisis through import and export deals, and the expansion of farm credit. He was also involved in the Iran-Contra Scandal due to supporting the Nicaraguan rebels, and allowed the expansion of sentences for drug possession.

Parker was know as a good speaker and effective worker, though.

Harry Parker announces presidential campaign; focuses on farm crisis, healthcare
March 15, 1987

Today, Vice President Harry Parker has flied to his home town of Springfield, Missouri, where he held a rally attended by 20,000 people; there, Parker announced his campaign for President of the United States.

Before his announcement, Parker's speech focused on America's issues the Reagan Administration did not "substantially" address in his view. After saying he was running for President, Parker said his Administration would increase farm subsidies and take steps to stabilize crop prices, comprehensively reform healthcare, create a negative tax for small business owners, create a federal network of trade schools while expanding the number of school vouchers in circulation, provide favorable tax treatment for companies not outsourcing jobs, ratify a constitutional amendment banning abortion except in cases of rape and life-threats, ratify the Equal Rights Amendment and a balanced budget amendment, spend "billions" of dollars in modernizing American industry, and expand offshore drilling.

Parker has a considerable lead in the polls over contenders Jack Kemp, Bob Dole and Pat Robertson.

Harry Parker names campaign team
March 17, 1989

Vice President Harry Parker, who announced his campaign for President two days ago, has named a team for the Parker campaign.

The chairs are US Senator for Missouri John Danforth, and Governor of Iowa Terry Branstad, both of whom accepted the offer.

The Parker campaign manager is no one other than Lee Atwater, who has ran several ruthless attack campaigns for Republicans in South Carolina. Will he do the same again?

Harry Parker rolls out healthcare plan
April 4, 1987

This morning, the presidential campaign of Vice President Harry Parker has released his plan for comprehensive healthcare reform.

It consists of:

- Malpractice reform;
- Protections for people with preexisting conditions:
- The creation of a $35,000 tax credit;
- The addition of a prescription drug benefit to Medicare;
- The provision of healthcare vouchers for these with a lower income;
- Wider HSA deductibility;
- An increase in the bargaining power of small employers with insurers;
- Extended sick leave;
- Higher pay for nurses and hospital staff;
- $1 billion spent on modernizing health equipment.

Experts have praised Parker's healthcare plan, but it has also faced criticism, with liberals saying it did not go far enough and conservatives seeing it as unnecessary.

Harry Parker says Administration will discourage outsourcing, create negative tax for small businesses, ratify balanced budget amendment
April 29, 1987

Today, Vice President Harry Parker has given a speech in Dearborn, Michigan where he announced his Administration's economic strategy, which pundits have regarded as surprisingly liberal.

Parker said his Administration would provide tax credits and deductions to companies if they avoid outsourcing, create a negative tax for small business owners, ratify a balanced budget amendment into the constitution, reduce the estate tax, close corporate tax loopholes, end duplicate government programs, and spend $10 billion dollars into modernizing American manufacturing.

Republican runner-up Jack Kemp has criticized his plans as "contradictory and unnecessary"

Ending this timeline.

Harry Parker was elected over Michael Dukakis by roughly the same margin as Bush. Lamar Alexander became Vice President, and Parker promised not to raise taxes.

As President, Parker reformed healthcare and education, created tax credits and deductions for these starting new businesses, slightly increased farm subsidies, closed corporate tax loopholes, ended duplicate government programs, and unsuccessfully pushed for constitutional amendments banning abortion and requiring a balanced budget. On foreign policy, Parker invaded Panama while overthrowing Saddam Hussein following the invasion of Kuwait; this and his breaking of the tax promise caused him to lose reelection.
