There are atheistic variants of Hinduism, which is diverse in itself and does not have a strong canon as Abrahamic religions do, that are quite interesting. Same with sects that are mainly a modified form of indigenous adivasi thought. However the establishment and how most people know it today is more harmful than most religious bodies on account of its caste system that became worse over time.

Buddhism was founded as a less extreme version of “drop out” hippie nonsense, and while more free than Hinduism, it has long past its place as a force for change. It also has an unfair reputation for being gay friendly, even though it is against “deviance” which in unwritten values of the time reflect the horrid values of a caste society.

Most Jain and Sikh bodies are led by small landowners. Sikhism was unique as a progressive force in Punjab compared to the establishment, but it quickly became corrupted. Jainism however has been reactionary for far longer, and are ardent supporters of the BJP. The classical opposition against clothing in Jainism is a unique positive of the religion in that its practical purpose is to not sexualize the nude or create markers of status.
