Now that the panel is complete again and after a week of (at least?) 3½ highly controversial rulings that added fuel to the flames of division of society, I'd like to know which justices are highly esteemed by the Atlas community and which are widely regarded as pariahs, in order to get a better idea of the reputation of the Supreme Court and its members.

Kagan is the least bad at the moment. Alito has been the worst for years and years and Dobbs neither improves nor further erodes my very low opinion of his "juris""prudential" approach.

Voted Kagan for favorite, Alito for least favorite.

Same. I sometimes oscillate between Kagan and Sotomayor for the top spot, but Alito has been at the bottom for me for as long as I can remember. He's a Republican hack with some of the poorest reasonings I've ever read. On the other hand, Kagan is one of the few that could go toe-to-toe with Justice Scalia. There's a strange part of me that's missing Scalia right now. I feel like he enjoyed the fight, whereas this current majority feels angry and spiteful with a goal in mind.

I don't feel it's fair to have KBJ in this poll until she has actually written some opinions, concurrences, and dissents. She hasn't even been a Justice for 24 hours yet.

Samuel Alito is a hero of mine.

I think the least of Sotomayor, but that's not a knock.

I have no opinion on KBJ at this point.  That she could not say what a woman was in confirmation hearings isn't a good start, but I suppose there will be legal matters coming before the Court on this.

Just out of curiosity, did you hold him in such high regard a few months ago?
