This is not a 'gotcha question.' A miscarriage is, for all intents and purposes, a natural abortion. Whether the woman intended to carry the pregnancy to term or not, a miscarriage has the same result as an abortion and is classified as an abortion medically.

However, if abortion is murder, it's only logical to examine every miscarriage and determine if abortion-inducing medication like methotrexate (which is used to treat rheumatoid arthritis) were involved. States are already cracking down on those medications after the Dobbs decision.

This would especially fall hard on women who wanted the child but had a miscarriage. That is a very traumatizing time for women and the last thing they would need is the state or the feds questioning them for a possible murder, but if that is what abortion is, all these draconian and interrogative measures would not only be justified, but mandated.

No, but it'd have to depend on the circumstances and situation at that time (sane, normal)

Only if there is probable cause.
What would that look like for you?

Now that Republicans are more or less free to implement their community standards of freedom and security, they will have to ask themselves how far they want to go. Do they only want to close down abortion clinics where they comprise a preponderance of the electorate or they genuinely interested in fetal personhood?

If the former is the case, I imagine that they will pass their abortion laws and basically deal with abortion the way prostitution is dealt with. They will be times when your college roommate has a whole medicine cabinet full of abortifacients and other times when no one can get them because 700 people were rounded up last month by the local vice squad’s collaboration with the Diocese. Lonely upper middle class men can jump on a plane for $500 and have 30 seconds to 30 minutes of fun for another $500. Working class guys who are unpopular go on 4chan. On the other hand, they will intend to reorganize their local social contract around their new goal. So much things will change, I’m not sure how it will all work with the rest of their agenda or with the rest of the world.

Standard medical tests show suspicious activity is drug use.

What proportion of infant deaths were investigated by police when infant mortality rates were 15 or 20%, vs. today?   The rate of miscarriage without an obvious cause makes a difference compared to a much lower contemporary infant mortality rate. It doesn't make sense to investigate them generally. Drugs like methotrexate should be available for those who have a medical need for them, but if someone is distributing them for purposes of abortion that should be considered a crime.
