We might be getting close to the point where DeSantis surpasses trump as the frontrunner. trump is as close as it gets to an immovable object in this primary, but if GOP money and media machine is switching lanes, that may be enough to deny him the nomination.

DeSantis right now. I don't see Trump running a third time due to too many scandals and entanglements.

Voted Trump right now, but DeSantis is looking stronger than he was 6 months ago.

Tbh, Lean DeSantis.

I'm not sure Mr. Trump will actually run again.

Also, today I can say I won't be backing Trump again in 2024.

As of now I think the 2024 GOP primary will be very similar to the 2016 Democratic primary with Trump being the Clinton of the GOP primary and DeSantis being the Sanders meaning Trump will likely barely win the nomination but still win a majority of delegates.

I still don't think Trump runs again. He will act like he is up until the last minute and then sit back and play king maker.

A of now, Ron DeSantis. Trump won't run if he thinks he will lose to DeSantis.

In the long run, I think Desantis certainly has a good shot, but looking almost all polling data as of right now, it's kinda crazy to think that Trump wouldn't beat him.

Why is everyone suddenly so high on DeSantis?

I've always considered RDS a formidable challenger to Trump, but I've mostly been in the minority on this position

are people coming around because of the 1/6 hearings?  or the Joe Rogan endorsement?

Hearings plus rumblings that donors plus Fox News want to move on

It's way too early for DeSantis to be anything resembling a frontrunner, with or without Trump. Right now, he's the Scott Walker of 2024.

I'm still saying Trump  has a roughly 50/50 shot a being the R nominee in 2024 (much like Biden has at being the D nominee). That's nowhere near certain, but puts him far in front of anyone else.

Biden's shot at being the Republican nominee is waaaaay lower than 50%

I'll edit it for those having comprehension issues.

Its a lot of stuff but the Jan 6th hearings are definitely not helping that poll showing 58% of Americans want trump criminally convicted shows that he is cooked and everyone can tell. Thiers blood in the water for Trump and Biden now which is why Newsom and Pritzker are considering primarying Biden. and why Fox and the donor class are done with Trump. I think the chances of 2024 being a 2020 rematch are a lot lower today than they were 3 weeks ago.

Why not, exactly? I can see it being a factor but Trump is looking weaker than he was, and this may be the "right" cycle for DeSantis. Why waste that?

Ted Cruz.
I think Trump will be in jail. And the GOP has the habit of nominating the runner-up for the nomination in the last open primary season. Cruz was in second place in the 2016 Republican primaries. Whether or not he gets the presidential nomination, I don't think Cruz will run for re-election to the Senate.

It seems like Fox has switched from Trump to DeSantis

I think Trump senses that the momentum is in DeSantis' favor. Heck, if he decides to run, he could easily announce as early as tomorrow

If he announces soon, it will be interesting to see if he goes low on DeSantis, like he did on Carson and Cruz when they became threats.
