I'm assuming the U.S will be open at the conclusion of this turn. That said, while I don't speak for Lumine, I'm very hesitant about letting a poster join a game before they establish a posting record. Not being able to provide activity is one issue, or possibly being outed as a sock is another issue.

You could try to create an empire of Africa!

That would get me into a war with four different European Powers, and I'd lose that (except maybe against Belguim over the Congo. I've got a feeling they wouldn't be willing to fight over that).

Just want to give a comment on how well Devout Centrist played as Emperor Hirohito.

If it weren't for the fact that FDR's probably on death row, or at least unable to communicate with the outside world, I might have considered having a jailhouse statement from him to mark Hirohito's presumed death.

My congratulations to YPestis for his - as usual - very skilled performance. Still writing the end turn, but we will need a new France for the 1940 turn.

The new French player is meant to play President Petain, but he could also pick his chosen Premier in the understanding that he will have to contend with a powerful president.
