Nice! Kudos to the North Carolina Democratic Party for going above and beyond like this.

Hi Matthew, my name's Drew and we're texting you because your name was listed on a petition submitted to help place the Democratic Party and its candidates on the North Carolina ballot in 2022 and 2024.  We just wanted to confirm whether you signed this petition?

I have to wonder what people would say if that had been the text and it had come from a Republican.

Even after failing to invalidate the signatures, the Democrats in collusion with state board removes Hoh off the ballot

Gee, that's what happens when a party has to lie and use fraudulent signatures to try to make the ballot: https://www.wunc.org/news/2022-06-30/nc-elections-board-denies-recognition-of-green-party

Three Democrats think that there might be a possibility that maybe a few of the signatures could, perhaps, be not technically valid despite having been already thoroughly scrutinized and validated by the county boards of elections, so therefore the democratic right of people to participate in an election should be denied based upon the cherrypicking of "evidence" by the DSCC's lawyers that seems to, potentially, indicate this (meanwhile, the Green Party's lawyer's only question to the board chair, asking whether or not the board was even actually contesting any of their 16,000 validated signatures, went unanswered and he was muted via Zoom for even daring to ask it). Cool.

Quote
The board said the investigation also identified 145 signatories who sought to revoke their signatures, three individuals who claim they did not sign the petition and several signatures from deceased voters.

wow. a whopping 148 plus "several" other signatures which are allegedly invalid. despite the fact that the green party submitted >2,000 more county-validated signatures than they needed so it wouldn't even make a difference anyway. makes sense.

Someone make a “F off I don’t believe in that made up nonsense” for the NM state legislature forcing Otero county to verify its results and then a “so true” for the NC boars of elections disqualifying the greens on vibes alone meme.

This isn't a "trick". They're flat out asking if the person wants to do that and can only take action with their permission.
They’re pretending to be the Green Party while doing some of the calls, that’s excessive trickery.
Cite? And proof that this is illegal?
BAN and the numerous Hoh supporters getting calls. It ain’t illegal but still a ratf•••, don’t deny it.

Hopefully the Democrats keep up the good work
You want to set the precedent for Republicans to pull the same stunt and go through all sorts of tricks to get your preferred candidate off the ballot?

Unlike Get Republicans Elected Every November party voters, I don’t waste my vote.  So no, I’m not worried about Republicans doing this

If those folks weren't going to vote Democrat anyway, how is stripping their candidate of choice of being on the ballot going to convince them? If they stay home it makes no difference and if a few vote R out of spite due to being denied their choice (likely a small percentage) then that hurts Ds.

No one is obligated to vote for the major party closest to their views and if the D loses in any race it's their own fault for coming up short not the voters' fault. A view to the contrary is extremely elitist, basically implying that the "dumb" electorate got it wrong.

People vote third party to send a message that they don't like the two main choices they have. If you are really displeased with both major parties then that's the only logical course of action. Progressives are expected to vote D religiously but are consistently undermined in D primaries as candidates. Ds want to just run their preferred establishment candidates and to win leftist votes automatically which doesn't make much sense together.

The idea that most of the third party vote is to “send a message” to either larger party is inherently wrong. They do so because they are unrepresented by either larger party and have been courted by the third party one way or another. Most third party votes are just demographic votes by members whose demographic isn’t being served to.

With the case in court, in a surprise twist of events, DSA mouthpiece Jacobin Magazine has released this article in support of the Green party. This is the only article mentioning the Green party or a currently existing left party in more than two years.

The greens have done an amazing job of amplifying the concern to the general public.

even the AP and NPR have run stories on it (and even portrayed the green party's perspective in a fairly sympathetic light for once). honestly some of the best national press the greens have gotten in like... forever

the state board of elections are apparently having another meeting this coming monday re: the petition, and the first court hearing starts the following monday. ballots are due to be printed mid-august so a decision will have to come before then

The Democratic party is intervening on the case, and the greens are trying to get them off the court case

Not even the Maine removal, where the green party has a strong presence in, has gotten much statewide or national attention. This is a league over the norm from the media.

Hopefully the Green party learns to always stand against the injustice they are facing, the caving in California’s recall was particularly saddening.

NC elections system needs an overhaul though, especially cause imo the legistlature has too much power and almost all NC's institutions are controlled by partisans including Dems in some cases such as this one. NC is firmly one of the places I believe that is most at risk of elections beginning to fail, especially given it's importance in the national political picture.

Awful.   He should've been kept off the ballot.   He's a fake anyway.

I would assume he would still be able to run in 2022, no?

What BS, the Green party should sue

The Greens need to start running more candidates in swing states to take revenge at the behemoth.
