Maybe worse than Buchanan, to be honest. Trump owes his momentum to the hardships of the War on Terror and Great Recession, Republicans' post-Bush wilderness, and the foundations laid by the Paulbots, Tea Party, and alt-right. His way of doing things wouldn't fly at the nadir of bland neoliberalism, and ironically, he would probably get purity checked out of his future socially conservative base's votes.
