Washington, District of Columbia - Never

If DC had been given electoral votes after the Civil War, I kind of wonder when it could have gone Republican, if ever.

1924 and 1928 are definitely possible, but I think it would have swung hard against Hoover in 1932 because of his response to the Bonus Army March.

For whatever reason, the whole DC metro area swung hard towards Dewey in 1944 and 1948, so I'm not ruling out a win in either of those years, especially the latter.

Ike won Baltimore City in 1956, so he conceivably could have won DC as well. That's the absolute latest it could have possibly happened.

county I lived in from age 6 and up, Iredell, NC: 2020

county I was born and lived in until age 6; Mecklenburg, NC: 2000

county where I attended college; Orange, NC: 1928

Finding out that last fact reminded me that Jesse Helms called UNC "the University of Negroes and Communists" during his time as a WRAL-TV commentator, prior to being elected to the Senate. The closest a Republican has come since 1928 was in 1956 when Stevenson beat Ike by 51.90% with 4,743 votes to 48.10% with 4,396 votes.

Home (Essex, NJ): 1972 for president and Senate, 1985 for Governor
College (Cook, IL): 1972 for president, 1978 for Senate, 1994 for Governor
Current (DC): Never for president, but there was an at-large City Council member who won in 2004.

1988. Coalitions were very different then; so much of the voting divides then were class-based. Some suburbs which went >65% Bush went almost 65% Biden.
