I read somewhere on here that the main explanation for the massive swing towards the GOP in rural areas in the Midwest and Northeast comes from the southernization of Northern Rural areas in the United States. With Southern Pride now morphing into "Rural Pride" due to Trumps candidacy. The main enemy to Rural America wasn't the "Massachusetts Liberal" but instead the "Coastal Elitists".

Is there an inverse effect happening to Urban and Suburban areas in the South? Like where now Southern culture is becoming Rural culture is Northeastern culture essentially becoming Suburban culture?
