It's probably slightly more to do with the fact that Mastriano is universally considered a very weak candidate though Shapiro won statewide office in 2020 (and outperformed Biden by about 3 points in the process) despite statewide Democrats also losing in the State Treasurer and Auditor races and from what I hear most in the state approve of the job he's doing as Attorney General.

He has a strong personal brand in PA. He's not Casey(s) level but it's incredibly strong. People like him, even many Republicans (at the very least they don't have animous to him like other Ds)

He's gotten the most votes out of any candidate (Biden, Trump, anyone) in the last 2 major elections.

His work as AG has also helped him with people of both parties, especially his work with the church scandal.

There's a lot of PA Republicans who aren't MAGA and in a Mastriano battle, you could see a small chunk of them breaking off for Shapiro

People who don't live in PA don't seem to understand it, but a lot aren't trying to. You have to live here to understand a bit of the dynamics. People just "like" Shapiro

We have always had strong candidate in PA except Kate McGinty and Ontario in 2010 go back to Ed Rendell he built a machine along with Casey Sr, it's called machine politics

Most of the candidate are connected to Ed Rendell Sestak, Wolf, Casey and look at NM all candidate are connected to Bill Richardson

Let's be clear the reason why Rs are very competetive in PA, WI and MI is because they have Supermajority, in the state Legislature, whereas in IA, OH, FL and TX we have R state legislature and there isn't a Filibuster in the state Legislature and Rs blocked Voting Rights on a Filibuster.

NC is competetive because Cooper has a 55 percent Favs and NC state legislature isn't partisan like the other R state legislature like in NH R Govs have won due

Republicans do not have a supermajority in either Pennsylvania or Michigan.
