This story will revolve around the story of a popular young Democratic President who is about to complete his second term and involve American politics in the aftermath of his presidency. The character is a blend of the star power of Barack Obama, the dynastic connotations of the Bush's, and the spousal ambitions of the Clinton. As already stated the story will begin in 2024, on the eve of a presidential election, and continue into the distant future. There will be referrals to possible outcomes in both domestic affairs and America's engagement in global affairs. There will be maps focusing on party Primaries in 2024, and in future electoral cycles, maps of potential election outcomes; any idea's will be welcomed. Remember my storyline is strictly fictional and any mention of names of other fictional candidates, is purely unintentional. The characters will be composite of real life characters.

How has Alexander's presidency gone? How did he deal with COVID? Ukraine? The economy?

Covid as it turned out, was the non infectious variety and couldn't be transmitted to humans, the economy because there was no pandemic, is strong and there are no supply chain issues; as he won his second term in a 49-state landslide, and as such he had generous coat-tails. In the ATL (Alexander Time Line), Republican's won control of the House in 2018 and due to this fact alone, Democrats had a 96 to 104 seat gain and a 12 seat pick up in the Senate, the Alexander character does quite well and he is able to gain passage of a very ambitious infrastructure reform package; the withdrawal from Afghanistan 🇦🇫 turns out to be every bit as disastrous as it was in the OTL. Eduard Sharapov,  the Russian President, is a facsimile of Putin and launches his invasion of Ukraine 🇺🇦, emboldened by his successful intervention into Kazakhstan 🇰🇿 in January, 2022. The pull-out from Afghanistan 🇦🇫 in August 2021, emboldens Jihadists like Al-Qaeda and ISIS to foment revolutions in not only Kazakhstan, but also in Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, which leads to civil wars in these Central Asian Republics in late 2023, the so-called Central Asian spring, proves to be the most daunting foreign policy challenge since Vietnam. Intervention and non intervention is like the proverbial catch 22.

A 49 state landslide is impossible by this point. US politics are simply too polarized.

As I referred to before, it is a ATL universe, so it's different to the OTL in many respects, but similar in other's! So you need to view things through the prism constructed in this thread.

No sooner than JBA (James Benjamin Alexander had been sworn in as America's 45th President, he is confronted with his first domestic challenge, when Chief Justice, John Eisner dies within 24 hours of the inauguration; he is now required to find a replacement, and knowing how conservatives will resist his efforts, if he selects a Liberal firebrand, so Alexander adopts a less confrontational route and selects someone who is regarded as a moderate, who also happens to be a Latino woman and a sitting Justice, so he elevates Justice Millicent Acosta to the position of Chief Justice, and because of her gender and ethnicity, he bets that opposition will be more muted, and he appoints Liberal federal circuit court Judge Joseph Truitt and after two weeks of hearings, both Acosta and Truitt win confirmation by a 55-45 vote on February 17. The president, dispatches his Vice President, Elizabeth Oates to Europe, to signal a stronger NATO alliance. Already it has been revealed that Russia had interfered in the 2016 election; the investigation launched by the FBI has established that the email dumps via HeisenbugDrip (twitter OTL) implicated that Alexander's opponent in the 2016 election (Vice President Brian Pike), had secretly authorized arms shipments (in defiance of an embargo), by major Arms dealer, ARES to Yemen. The so-called Yemengate investigation, had established links to Russian activity in hacking Pike's private email account. These revelations were costly to Pike politically. Also the former Vice President's "hot mike" moment, in which he referred to his running mate as a "Beaner" (Pike's V.P. pick was happened to be Hispanic), Arthur Martinez, who was represented Virginia in the Senate, threatened to resign from the ticket. The Ambassador to the United Nations, Peter Collins, recommended that because of Russia's suspected interference in the election, the sanctions regime, already in place against Moscow (due to there annexation of Ukraine in 2014), needed to be tightened. Collins indicates that Russia's efforts in Syria against ISIS was virtually nonexistent and Sharapov (Putin's avatar) can't be trusted.https://talkelections.org/FORUM/GALLERY/18439_01_06_22_11_12_41.png.

You have to upload it to an image server (for example imgur.com). After that you have to put the image address (you can find it with right click, copy image address - it should have a .jpg or .png etc. extension) between the [img] and

That works to a point, but image isn't visible for all to see on post, just the link.

The Investigation into Russia's interference in the 2016 presidential election, is led by Jay Rollins, a well regarded prosecutor appointed by the previous administration's Attorney General, David Nolan, reveals gaping security gaps in the servers of both the RNC and Pike's own private servers, that social media networks were compromised by trolls originating from Russia, Rollins has also expanded his investigation into the activities of Ares, regarding illegal arms shipments to Yemen and did Pike use his government position to facilitate those shipments in exchange for the funnelling of monetary donations into his election campaign. Pike's running mate, Arthur Martinez is absolved of any knowledge regarding the fund raising activities. It should be noted that the previous President, Richard Donnelly and Alexander's own Defense Secretary, George Clay were the co-founders of Ares; before Donnelly entered Politics.

Russia 🇷🇺 in whatever Universe you place them, are bad actor's 👎 and the fact if it's Putin in the OTL or Sharapov in the ALT,  there's no getting away from the fact, they are trouble. Pike in the ALT, is not a bad individual, just a flawed one, and like Hillary, he's been outspent and out hustled by Alexander, as Hillary and McCain were in 2008 by Obama. Pike goes the old fashioned and conventional fundraising route. Unfortunately for him he gets involved with George Clay, a bad actor, who's unable to get the Pentagon job in Donnelly's administration due to conflict of interests; so Pike and Clay become pretty good buddies. There's a flavor of Romney in Pike; they are both Mormons and Pike is ambivalent towards Sharapov and his corrupt kleptoracy. So Sharapov is looking for payback and is hell-bent on sabotaging his presidential campaign, as Putin did with Hillary. It should be noted that Alexander is no Sharapov stooge as was the case with Trump and Putin. Sharapov just doesn't want Pike to win.
