Insurrectionist plot by Prez/AG/other clowns to impose martial law, rig the election, and kill the game. Supreme Court intervened, then the Prez and AG were impeached, a discord log of the plot was compiled and leaked, and a new coalition of anti-coup right center and left swept the elections.

Either a realignment moment, or the game itself is dying. Maybe a mix of both.
