How do you see the 2006 California gubernatorial election going if the recall against Gray Davis in 2003 failed? Governor Davis would serve out his second term then and 2006 is an open seat election.

Does the Terminator still run? Or is it Governor Angelides since California is a blue state and 2006 a Democratic friendly year while Republicans don't have a popular incumbent?

I actually could see Brown making a move four years early and reclaim the seat. He'd be reelected in 2010 then and Newsom already gets elected in 2014 after just a single term as lt. governor.

Very possible Brown makes a run in 2006 already instead going for AG and ultimately wins the primary and GE.

I don't think Schwarzenegger runs again in '06 after not succeeding in the recall.
