SailGP though is different than the America's Cup. It's an Annual Championship much like Soccer, NBA, NHL, Formula 1. Get ready for some excitement starting Saturday.

Shoot in a former life I'd be out on a spectator boat watching the races here in Chicago. That's what I did when the America's Cup World Series came through here back in 2016. But that's probably not in the cards for me this year. Parenting is a full-time job.... Will be fun to watch the highlights though.

It is really crazy because in small boats where this course is going to be used to be TERRIBLE conditions for sailing. The wind would be so shifty with all of the skyscrapers creating interference with the prevailing winds from the west. But these boats are so insane it doesn't matter how fast the wind is or where its coming from. They are going to fly up and down the course.

That's because they now have a 29M High Wing & Light Air Foils. The 29M Wing was specifically designed for a 0-5 Knot Wind Range or 0-12 km/h.

Yeah, I agree, should be no problem for the boats to fly around Smiley

SAIL GRAND PRIX
BREAKING NEWS
Sydney announced as 9th Event of Sail GP's Season 3
Early this Morning AEDT (Australian Eastern Day Time) / Early Evening (Central US Time) SAIL GP ORGANIZERS announced ahead of the Chicago Sail GP Event that its cutting-edge Sailing League will return to the iconic Harbour City of Sydney in February 2023 as part of a 3-Year Deal reached with the New South Wales Government & Destination NSW, their Sports and Tourism Agency completing the Leagues Season 3 Calendar.
Sydney already hosted SAIL GP Events in 2019, 2020 and 2021.

AUSTRALIA SAIL GP TEAM CEO & DRIVER Tom Slingsby:

We are stoked to be able to work with the NSW Government to secure this world class event in Australia for the next three years. Now having ten F50’s lined up and racing for the first time on Sydney Harbour is going to be a pretty incredible sight for fans and with the calibre of athletes we have on these boats in Season 3, we can expect action-packed and very close racing. We won in front of our home crowd at last year’s Sydney event and our team is laser focused on repeating that again for Australia.
