BREAKING NEWS
SAIL GP ANNOUNCES MUBADALA ABU DHABI SAIL GRAND PRIX
Source: SAILGP
Source: SAILGP

SAIL GP ORGANIZERS announced today the United Arab Emirates Capital of Abu Dhabi as 7th Stop of its Global Season 4 Schedule. Racing is set to commence on January 13th & January 14th 2024 to kick off the year 2024.

Statement by RUSSELL COUTTS, Chief Executive Officer at SailGP:

„This is another great moment for our global championship as we continue our rapid expansion and I am delighted that we are adding another new capital city to our event roster for Season 4. Of course, this wouldn’t be possible without our partners and in particular Mubadala Investment Company – who has increased its commitment to SailGP over the next three seasons – along with the support of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council. Together we will work to promote climate-positive solutions and foster transformative change within the region – through initiatives such as Inspire – and look at ways that we can make an impact long into the future.“

SAIL GRAND PRIX
BREAKING NEWS
SAIL GP ANNOUNCES ROCKWOOL CANADA SAIL GRAND PRIX HALIFAX
Source: SAILGP

SAIL GP ORGANIZERS today announced HALIFAX, NOVA SCOTIA as Venue for the inaugural CANADA SAIL GRAND PRIX presented by ROCKWOOL. Racing is set to commence on June 1-2 2024 with Tickets to go on sale in early 2024. HALIFAX beat three other Canadian Venues: Montreal (Quebec), Kingston (Ontario) and Victoria (British Columbia) who were also vying to host the Event.

Statement by RUSSELL COUTTS, Chief Executive Officer at SailGP:

„It is really exciting that we will add yet another new city to our Season 4 line-up and finally be able to have our first event in Canada. It’s something that we have been working on for a long time with the event stakeholders and we know in Halifax we have a really engaged audience. The venue is set up well for our stadium racing, allowing the fans to get a very close view of the action. I can’t think of a better stop for our first Canadian Sail Grand Prix and can’t wait to see the F50’s racing on Halifax Harbor.“

STATEMENT by MIRELLA VITALE, Senior Vice President, Marketing, Communications and Public Affairs ROCKWOOL GROUP:

„North America is a very important market for ROCKWOOL and our commitment continues to grow. As such we are very pleased to be the title partner of this inaugural event in Canada, and look forward to delivering a successful first edition together with the local stakeholders and SailGP.“

STATEMENT by TIM HOUSTON, Regional Premier Minister Nova Scotia:

„SailGP offers an exciting opportunity for Nova Scotia to showcase our ability to host major sailing events, as well as highlight our province's sports, culture, and heritage to international audiences. We are thrilled to be the first Canadian jurisdiction to host this world-class event.“

STATEMENT by MIKE SAVAGE, Mayor of Halifax:

„Halifax is honored to host this international event, the first SailGP event in Canada. Our rich history of water sports and sailing highlights us as a destination not only for tourism but for events on the global stage.“

STATE by ERIC HILL, President Sail Nova Scotia:

„The team at Sail Nova Scotia has worked for more than a year to secure this prominent global event and we are thrilled that it will be a reality in June 2024. It was made possible through the support of our partners Province of Nova Scotia, Halifax Regional Municipality, Build Nova Scotia, Discover Halifax, and the Port of Halifax. We can’t wait to see the most exciting racing in our harbor and know it will inspire the sailors and non-sailors of today and tomorrow.“

After a successful debut last year SAIL GP ORGANIZERS confirmed today that the cutting-edge Sailing League would return to Dubai on December 9-10 for the Emirates Dubai Sail Grand Prix presented by P & O Marinas to close out the year 2023. This takes SailGP to a Record 13-Event Calendar for Season 4.

Statement by RUSSELL COUTTS, Chief Executive Officer at SailGP:

„We are delighted to bring SailGP back to the home of both P&O Marinas and Emirates, following our successful debut last year. Returning to Dubai will help to amplify our ambitions to grow the sport across the UAE, and with two exceptional partners now onboard we are looking forward to what the Dubai event can bring this year by welcoming even more fans to the race stadium at Mina Rashid.“

Statement by ADNAN KAZIM, Chief Commercial Officer at Emirates Airline:

„Emirates has supported the sport of sailing for almost 20 years, so welcoming SailGP to our home Dubai, and putting the city as a fixture on the league’s calendar is a proud moment, and we look forward to exhilarating action and a buzzing waterfront in a few short months. Our partnership with Sail GP also underscores Emirates’ commitment to growing Dubai’s position as a centre of sports excellence and a destination of choice for elite sporting events with its world-class facilities and iconic venues. We’re confident that this event will again prove popular with the vibrant, multi-national communities here, with teams expecting to compete from 10 countries.“

Statement by HAMZA MUSTAFA, Chief Operating Officer at P&O Marinas:

„SailGP is back in Dubai! We're thrilled to host this exhilarating international sailing event at Mina Rashid Marina, the perfect destination for all things maritime. Our partnership cements our commitment to making Dubai a leading maritime hub and a global destination for yachting and sailing enthusiasts. With our state-of-the-art berth infrastructure and exceptional hospitality offerings, this year's event is sure to be a memorable experience for everyone. We look forward to witnessing world-class athletes compete in a high-profile race that will leave you breathless.“
