It's common belief that John Kerry would have easily lost reelection 2008 with the recession, but how about him running for a 2nd term in 2008 against Mitt Romney while there's no recession. Kerry narrowly beat W in 2004 here by flipping NM and OH.

Who replaces John Edwards as VP?

Kerry wins re-election by a slightly bigger margin than 2004.
