I am beginning an interactive timeline about the 2016 American presidential election with imaginary politicians, as Barack Obama is term-limited and Joe Biden doesn't run. It will go into 2030.

The characters must be eligible, realistic and serious.

First presidential candidates announce
March 15th, 2015

The first politicians have tossed their hat in the ring to run for President of the United States.

The popular Governor of Minnesota, John Anderson, is the first Democrat to announce. A moderate, popular governor, Anderson was a fighter pilot and decorated war hero, who walks reeling due to a crash. Recently reelected by a landslide, Anderson can bring youth and energy to the ticket, while appealing to progressives.

Chris Benoit, a former wrestler and congressman who was recently elected to the US Senate for Georgia, has became the first Republican presidential candidate. A libertarian, Benoit has drawn comparisons with Jesse Ventura, who once occupied Anderson's seat. Pundits have questioned Benoit for having barely served in the Senate and already ran for President, but remnants of the Tea Party movement have applauded Benoit.

More candidates might jump in the race.

Date of Birth: 12th March 1990

Home State: Pennsylvania

Offices Held: Pennsylvania Representative (2014-16)

Current Offices: U.S. Representative (2017-Present)

Biography: Born to Ukrainian parents in DuBois before moving to Coatesville to pursue politics and journalism. Grew up around revolutionary parents who exposed him to radical leftism. He was a journalist writing about American inequality before being an elected official. His shock win in the general election for, what was at the time, the 6th district was attributed to his ability to galvanize the working class due to strong messaging and a strong grassroots campaign. He is very cunning and is always three steps ahead of his rivals and many believe he is a top contender for the senator following either a Casey or Toomey retirement due to his populist message and large rural support.

Name:
Jesse Webber

Party:
Independent (Caucuses Dem)

Ideology:
Social Conservative/Economic New Dealer

Date of birth:
April 30th 1956

Home state:
West Virginia

Offices held:
Member of West Virginia State Senate (1999-2010)

Current offices:
U.S. Senator (2010-Present)

Biography:
Growing up in the traditionally Democratic Boone County, Webber spent much of his early life seeing the effects of the coal mines and later seeing them first hand. He eventually became a prominent UMW organizer in the state and used that to springboard himself into a position on the State Senate. Very popular among the WV Democratic Party’s rank and file, he managed to narrowly edge out Governor Joe Manchin in the 2010 Democratic Senate Primary and won the general election by a comfortable margin. While popular among WWC voters, he’s controversial with the national party for his stances on social issues including gun control and abortion. He will also likely come under fire for serving in the Senate as an independent and not a Democrat.

Senator Webber joins Democratic field
March 20th, 2015

Independent Senator for West Virginia Jesse Webber has announced his presidential campaign. Webber's political record consists of progressive economic positions together with a conservative record on abortion and gun rights – popular in his home state and the Rust Belt, but not in the Sun Belt and Northeast.

Pundits have said Webber's relative social conservatism might deprive him of the party's nomination. However, Webber is a good fit for the Midwest and might do well among rural voters if nominated. Progressive on economic issues and conservative on social issues is also an ideological niche lacking in mainstream politics nowadays.

Congressman forms exploratory committee
March 25th, 2015

US Representative for Maryland and former Mayor of Baltimore Athol Cockburn has formed a presidential exploratory committee. A staunch progressive – who has a nonbinary child – Cockburn comes from a humble background. Some pundits have laughed Cockburn off due to his lack of national name recognition, "coastal elitist" reputation and supposedly being too far to the left of the political spectrum, but some progressive youths seem enthusiastic about a Cockburn campaign.

Governor Bellic of Arizona announces intention to run for President
March 30th, 2015

Niko Bellic, the popular Governor of Arizona, has announced his presidential campaign. Bellic's main achievement as Governor was a reduction in taxes for low-income Arizonans, and he was reelected with 68% of the vote, carrying all counties.

Pundits have questioned Bellic over his age (38) and limited experience, but neoconservatives have praised the Governor.

I didn't think of this before.

But yes. As this is not a roleplay, each user can have two characters.
